An agentless tool that offers great scalability and a straightforward setup phase
The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that BMC Helix Monitor is an agentless tool, because of which you don't need to deploy agents on each and every system in your IT environment. If you want to install an agent on each and every system, manpower is needed, while there is no such need when one uses BMC Helix Monitor. BMC Helix Monitor provides you with details on asset relationships. If a particular printer is connected to a core network printer or a particular desktop is connected to the servers, the product scans and gives you a free structure of relationship, which doesn't need any human intervention, making it an automated process. BMC Helix Monitor gives you the entire information about your assets, because of which you can sit in one place and keep track of whether a particular asset is online or offline.

Powerful data integration, comprehensive automation, and hybrid compatibility
The data lake is a very powerful feature within OpenText Operations Bridge. It can integrate with any BI tool to collect AI data and perform a variety of functions. It offers hybrid compatibility and supports desktop application customization and cloud integration. Another essential capability is server automation, which became significantly easier with the software appliance for deployment. This solution also provides role-based access that enhances data privacy and security.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"The service operations monitoring features are valuable."
"It is evolving more and more into artificial intelligence."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that BMC Helix Monitor is an agentless tool, because of which you don't need to deploy agents on each and every system in your IT environment."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to integrate with everything."
"The broad integration possibilities, I'd say, with any kind of product, are probably the most valuable feature."
"We use the on-premises version to monitor our systems and manage emails. All our systems use Operations Bridge, especially the critical systems."
"Flexible dashboard with the availability of widgets."
"I've found the solution to be very scalable."
"The most valuable aspect of Operations Bridge for us is its integration capabilities."
"The Performance Manager provides great insight into our systems' performance."
"It allows us to build dashboards for individual parts of the business. Our team members appreciate that they can just get a view of their part of the world without having to worry about anyone else's."

Cons

"I feel that the tool's stability has some scope for improvement."
"The initial setup of the solution is complex."
"The product must provide more information and dashboards."
"The solution's GUI and some patching-related information are areas with shortcomings where enhancements are needed, though I believe they are areas that fall under BMC's roadmap for the future."
"Reporting has to be tackled a bit more. Conceptually, it is there and conceptually it is amazing, but somehow the module itself is suffering."
"The setup process can get a little bit complex."
"The price is quite expensive, and because of this, we may try another solution."
"The pricing could be improved."
"I'm not aware of areas that need improvement."
"We are waiting for quicker release cycles. Also containerized upgrade, so that you don't have to bring a system entirely down to make a minor upgrade, in fact, or a minor patch."
"Installing and upgrading the HPOM and Operations Agent software is not always easy and the process can be quite fragile. Once it is running, it is very quick and stable, but an upgrade can quite easily break something or terminate unexpectedly."
"In a future release, we would like an improved upgrade process. When you upgrade it now, it first uninstalls everything and then reinstalls all the packages, which means any customization that you've done in the directories on the surface disappears."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product’s price could be improved."
"It is competitive."
"The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
"Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
"As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
"The cost is very high."
"Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
"The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. Cost-wise, it's much more if you have more devices and features such as infrastructure monitoring, analytic dashboard, and business dashboard in your model."
