Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Helpful dashboard, and the ElasticSearch feature helps to identify problematic components
Savision continuously develops new modules to allow further integration, so the only item would continue with this effort to allow more-and-more systems to integrate into this platform. Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Some of its valuable features include transaction traces, dashboards, and metric grouping to see combined data."
"A client claims that they have had better management and administration along with advanced reporting capabilities to the Privacy Authorities of State."
"When it was stable, Trending Reports and Response Time Distribution were valuable features."
"Most valuable features and characteristics for me are: Quick setup and good out-of-the-box value provided, usable interface and navigation, variety and value of the provided metrics, qualified and motivated support services, and customization options as you can monitor almost everything with EPAgents."
"It has a random transaction trace which gives our customers the ability to look at how their transaction performs."
"Stability is one of the strongest attributes of CA APM, as it is very stable on all platforms."
"We make custom dashboards for our development areas so they can understand how busy traffic affects their application with traffic. They can see how traffic directly affects their application in positive or negative ways."
"It helps the developers with performance testing, production pro-active monitoring and troubleshooting."
"This helps to centralize multiple monitoring solutions and streamline integration into ITSM."
"The dashboards and views available are easy to manage and share, and provide all of the metrics required."

Cons

"The documentation could better. It doesn't provide good descriptions of what some data are doing, and there's no good place to see what all the data might mean."
"It needs better documentation to help make the implementation easier."
"Deployment for large scale systems is an issue with a lot of add-ons or additional products required, for example add-ons for Oracle, Siebel, and Peoplesoft."
"The fresh technology should have been out a long time ago."
"The CA APM Command Center is very good, on paper, but in practice does not work in the best way, this promises to be an indispensable feature of the product, but has much to evolve."
"Yes, we encountered issues with scalability inside Team Center, a massive amount of universes, perspectives, applications."
"It should be easier to install or set everything up."
"Customer Service: Poor-fair Technical Support: Poor-fair"
"Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I'm unable to give information on Broadcom DX Application Performance Management licensing costs, but all Application Performance Management products have expensive pricing. This means that it's not only Broadcom that's expensive, and it would be an advantage if the cost would be a little bit cheaper."
"Dynatrace is the most expensive of these tools followed by AppDynamics which is "medium-expensive." CA APM is a bit lower in price than either Dynatrace or AppDynanics... In my opinion, if you can afford it, go for AppDynamics instead of CA APM."
"Depends on the size of the product you need."
"The licensing costs are expensive."
"Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
"The license for Broadcom DX Application Performance Management is annual. The licensing model could improve because there is not any limit to deploying the agent, there should be some limits on it."
"Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
