Enables customers to manage security effortlessly with intuitive features and easy integration
In terms of improvements for Fortinet FortiGate, they could offer evaluation licenses, as compared to Meraki, which provides a 90-day evaluation. In Fortinet FortiGate, they do not provide standard evaluation licenses; instead, we need to request them from the OEM through the account manager for POCs. If we want to conduct a demo, we need to work with real hardware. In comparison to Cisco, we have DCloud, which helps with providing demos to customers, but in Meraki, I need to reach out to them, book a lab, and they need to provide all the hardware. I need remote access and L3 engineers to program it; only then can I offer a real-time demo to the customer.

Good intrusion prevention, firewall, and VPN capabilities
Check Point Power-1 (EOL) has reached the end of its useful life, yet at the time, they could to make some changes such as: * Integration in the cloud. It is the new trend, however, Check Point has already contemplated this and already has its own cloud device. * Automation. As the automatic creation and application of policies, this would have been very beneficial. * Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time. They must also make some improvements in their support departments since they do not comply with the SLAs that they provide.

Web filtering and traffic balancing have improved security for SMBs but threat insight still needs work
I assess the machine learning capabilities of SonicWall TZ in proactive threat detection to not be at the level of other vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Check Point. It is somewhere in between, so I would not recommend it for a large enterprise-level organization to rely on because it is not at that level. SonicWall TZ's content filtering service is reliable. We have used it, but it is not very reliable compared to brands such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, or Check Point. What could be improved about SonicWall TZ is the threat intelligence, which by far is not at the level of vendors such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, and Check Point. Their threat intelligence needs to be improved, as does the GUI, which is not as user-friendly compared to devices such as Fortinet. They could learn from their competitors by making the product more user-friendly. The product interface is not that user-friendly. By adopting a more user-friendly GUI, improving threat intelligence, and enhancing the available guides would be beneficial. In my understanding, in some cases, the KB articles and knowledge articles were not that efficient. They were useful, but they could have been more precise with the knowledge base articles. They need to provide more information about SonicWall TZ, specifically more documentation and more troubleshooting articles. Other than the threat intelligence and the user-friendly GUI, there are no other additional features that I can think of for SonicWall TZ in the future or at least in the next release to make it more competitive.

"It is a good source for firewall protection."
"Fortinet FortiGate offers several valuable features, particularly as an interface-based solution. Its design makes it easy to understand both incoming and outgoing network traffic through its interface."
"The solution is very user friendly. The user interface in particular is quite nice."
"Good anti-malware and web filtering features."

"The administration of our network is very efficient."
"In summary, this is a very good product and I recommend it."
"The solution is very simple and works great and is working fine in the regions that are here."
"The most valuable features are unified threat management which provides security intelligence and the VPN for both site-to-site and remote access."
"We have been using this product for around ten years, and we are very comfortable with this product."
"SonicWall provides each location with its own security and provides our company with the ability to centralize our servers so they can provide applications to all the locations and users."

Cons

"In FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW), my concern regarding improvements is the licensing model."
"The solution's real-time connection with the cloud could be improved."
"Fortinet FortiGate IPS could improve the VPN. There are times it is slow."
"We are not utilizing Fortinet FortiGate to its full capacity because we have to pay for every small feature."
"Fortinet technical support is lacking, as OEM support is slightly better. Improvement in their technical support could include response time as well as having more technically sound people in tech support."
"Fortinet FortiGate is not a scalable solution, as they give you a number and each box comes with concurrent connections; if you need to expand, you have to change the box."
"The product has to be upgraded every few weeks."
"To stay ahead of the competition Fortinet FortiGate IPS needs to think about how to adjust pricing."
"I have to pay Check Point for every new service I integrate in the firewall and it also has license related issue which needs to renew every years."
"Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time."
"It needs more robust self-help documentation along with examples and things to watch out for."
"Getting support can be slow."
"The product needs more free SSL VPN user licenses as the current offering is limited."
"You need to be a certificate holder to set it up and configure it. It's really important because it looks easy, but it is complex. You need to have the knowledge and experience. But this is normal for technical products. It's not a product for regular user. It's for technical people. You need to have skills."
"The VPN that is available in the new version is a bit bulky and slower in speed."
"The technology in this particular version is very old."
"We haven't found the solution to be very stable. It doesn't operate as we expect it to sometimes."
"I would like them to make the interface a little bit easier to use so you can find out where in the heck you're going instead of having to go to 15 different places to get something installed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Fortinet FortiGate IPS' licensing is quite simple to understand."
"The price of FortiGate is average and I would say that based on the top five products available on the market, it is in the affordable range."
"There is a license to use Fortinet FortiGate."
"I do not have first-hand experience with the rice of Fortinet FortiGate, but I have heard the price was reasonable."
"For the performance that we get, the price is reasonable. There are cheaper options, but they may not deliver the same kind of performance that we want. For the performance they provide, the price is acceptable."
"They need to be competitive with other solutions."
"It is cheaper and more competitive compared to other options. For example, when comparing Palo Alto products to others, Palo Alto tends to be more expensive. If you compare Cisco's platform, including Cisco Meraki, with Fortinet products, you'll notice that Cisco's offerings are generally higher priced than Fortinet's firewall solutions."
"Licensing is usually on a three-year period."
Information not available
"We have to pay yearly. Its licensing can be improved, and they should provide more features, such as AV, email filtering, and so on with the basic subscription."
"It is an expensive solution compared to one of its competitors."
"The product is not expensive, but it is not cheap."
"It is highly priced and has a slow performance compared to other firewalls."
"The price is high compared to some other solutions."
"It comes to a range between five hundred to seven hundred dollars."
"The product pricing is relatively good, compared to other products, including the licenses."
"Customers are required to pay for a yearly subscription."
