Ensures efficient backup and recovery processes
The Protect and Restore features are very helpful. I can set up tags to include specific assets in our environment for backup. When I include those tags in my search, the assets are easily found and can be added for backup. I love the restore feature and how easily I can restore files, folders, or an entire image.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Working with the Clumio/Commvault team has been a very good experience."
"It has improved our disaster recovery footprint; previously, backups were only stored on premises, and having an offsite backup improves our reliability and security."
"We now have the peace of mind knowing that our entire AWS infrastructure is fully backed up into an air-gapped environment."
"Clumio has a straightforward setup"
"We now have the peace of mind knowing that our entire AWS infrastructure is fully backed up into an air-gapped environment."
"My advice to anybody who is considering Zerto is that it's an awesome product and it won't steer them wrong."
"Failover using Zerto is simply a one-button click, and it does everything else in restoring the VMs at a different datacenter (recovery site)."
"The main valuable features are the fast RPO and RTOs we could achieve and the analytics behind that."
"I like that Zerto is easy to move and that there is no effect on the user; we are in the healthcare industry and can set up a server in no time whatsoever, making it easy for us to schedule because it takes only about one minute."
"Since the log files are continuously transmitted, the granularity of restores is amazing."
"Speed of recovery has been very effective in getting our information back as fast as we're able to get it. The daily backup solution that we use alternatively only allows a single backup versus having continuous backup replication with Zerto, it's a no-brainer."
"Zerto is extremely easy to use. You set it and forget it."
"I prefer Zerto because it's a little more automated. VMware has more requirements... It's a little more click-and-go versus click-and-monitor..."

Cons

"They need to improve their SQL backup services"
"For what we got it for, it does it great. I use a different solution for my disk-to-disk local backups to where I can have a local backup of files. I don't think Zerto does that well to where it keeps a memory of the files that are there. Basically, when something is deleted on Zerto, it gets deleted on the replicated version. So, some sort of snapshotting or something where I could have backups at different points in time of files would be a really helpful tool."
"In Zerto for vSphere, it is a pain to remove the virtual appliance if for some reason you lose the host."
"We would love to have a native management pack for vROps and to be able to view a dashboard and metrics for BPGs within vROps. We would like to have a single view for monitoring and provide customers with dashboards so they can see their own BPGs."
"There is a need to allow the source vCenter Inventory to be imported with a single click."
"It would also be nice if they could find a way to make it where one VM does not impact the entire journal history of the VPG."
"The setup of the system, although simple to get working, is a little more tricky to get right. This aspect could have benefitted from a bit more explanation."
"The biggest improvement would be exporting VPGs and a configuration of VPGs, as well as increasing or improving their IP customization rule set."
"We had some issues with replication, especially on Linux, but we have already resolved them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing was straightforward."
"We find the Zerto pricing fits our budget."
"Zerto is slightly expensive, but we do see the value in it."
"Pricing is kind of expensive, but for what we get, it is probably worth it. I know they just had a huge price increase due to the VMware stuff getting expensive, which added about a thousand dollars a month to our bill."
"We're getting our money's worth with Zerto."
"There may be less expensive solutions on the market but with Zerto, you get what you pay for."
"I would suggest getting a dedicated, well-informed rep."
"Zerto's price seems fair. It's competitive."
