Helps us provide visibility into network performance, capacity planning, and cost analysis
Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

Simplifies RAID computation and technical support resolves issues effectively
The Lenovo configuration tool helps us with the computation of the RAID Controller and the installation of the operating system. If we encounter any sort of issue, we can troubleshoot the problem with the assistance of the Lenovo technical team. Sometimes, we do not receive complaints from the controller. We also receive software issue resolutions by managing the process with the assistance of the Lenovo technical team.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It reduced cycles for a lot of quick out-of-the-box functionality. It also allowed us to get away from being stuck in SNMP, VTP V2, based off of agent deployment."
"It’s easy to implement, a good solution for medium environments."
"Diagnosing issues is a lot faster; we can pinpoint what is going on more quickly than trying to figure it out, and with our teams being kind of split, we can all access it at the same time and see what we need to see very quickly and easily."
"Flexibility – in the sense that it allows me to monitor our IT infrastructure and application in a very holistic manner."
"The number of probes available. Out of the box, I believe about 200 probes are available. And, if there's a probe that is not available, you can write one. You can also go to the communities and suggest, and based on demand, CA will write one for you."
"In the past we would spend months in meetings with a new customer, defining what they wanted to monitor, and most of the time we would come back home to see if that was possible to do, however, with CA UIM, we can provide our clients with a predefined menu of items to collect, and we can select those faster and more efficiently."
"You can scale it pretty much however way you want to as long as you have the servers to throw at it."
"We have it integrated with Salesforce, so it’s great for auto creating, sending data to Salesforce and creating cases, proactively monitoring our customers' systems."
"The remote management capability was also good."
"The Lenovo configuration tool helps us with the computation of the RAID Controller and the installation of the operating system."
"The most valuable feature of Lenovo XClarity is the ease of use because of the interface browser that is highly compatible and it has mobile web management."
"I would rate Lenovo XClarity Controller ten out of ten."
"The product's most valuable feature is its ability to provide insights into server status and alerts."

Cons

"The company has not kept pace with developments."
"We had to do some work to make what was more of a business class solution work at the enterprise level."
"The biggest feature that I've been hoping they would enhance on is inventory management: things like adding/removing nodes."
"The biggest, most annoying problem, if you will, is the ISE that's embedded in UIM."
"Most of the time, we need to restart the monitoring server when deploying new features."
"We want to see more investment in the UI and the dashboard."
"Being able to report on the monitoring configurations and find out where you differentiate from standards. If I've deployed 500 probes to monitor Oracle, and I want to know that they're all monitored the same, I have no way to do that now."
"Scalability for redundant data centers is challenging."
"Lenovo XClarity can improve the dashboard integration. For example, graphs could be better. Additionally, more integration with other vendors is needed. For example, VMware has integration with a lot of vendors."
"Sometimes we do not receive the complaint from the Controller."
"They could enable notifications on emails and phones regarding control panel information."
"Sometimes we do not receive the complaint from the Controller. However, software issues are managed and processed with the help of the Lenovo technical team, and they sort them out."
"It worked very slowly. It was not well on performance."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
