Managing diverse networks with detailed alerts enhances device oversight
FortiManager is very helpful in managing our networks. We use it to manage 20 farms and various networks with hundreds of devices. The version we are using provides more detail than the older dashboard. We appreciate the alerting capabilities, which are integrated with SolarWinds to notify our team via SMS.

Nexthink offers many features, with the best being Flow, which encompasses almost everything. We have Nexthink Workspace and Spark, allowing integration with Teams so users can find solutions without going to the service desk, rectifying issues in chat. Nexthink Infinity has brought a lot of benefits to us. There has been a very good change from integration. Integrating ServiceNow with Nexthink automates problem ticket and incident generation, enabling the team to proactively know the kinds of problem statements we are receiving. For the integration with Teams, we have not completed it yet, but we are in the planning phase, and once done, we will observe the results. Nexthink has the capability of integrating with most third-party applications, which is a great feature. With the remediation actions we have in Nexthink, it has provided great self-heal capabilities along with proactiveness. By looking at the dashboards and identifying problem statements, we can share this information with the end-user computing teams to fix issues. Nexthink has significantly helped us enhance our DEX score from 74 to 80. When I talk about features that led to the improvement of our score from 74 to 80, there were earlier issues with device performance and reliability not being addressed. Noting these, we identified devices lacking free disk space and low RAM capacity contributing to high memory usage or excessive CPU usage. Disabling unnecessary startup applications brought us to a new DEX score of almost 80.

Pros

"FortiMonitor offers comprehensive monitoring capabilities, allowing me to track network traffic in and out effectively."
"In FortiMonitor, we're linked up with our Netgear, CactusServer, and NOC. It's really valuable because everything's migrating to one dashboard for us system engineers. We can keep an eye on traffic, blocked sites, and the health of our hardware. That last part, about knowing if something's going to fail soon, is super important. It gives us time to sort things out before any big problems happen. As a system engineer, I need to keep tabs on everything – temperature, monitoring systems, and network operations. This data is really handy because it helps me ensure our site runs smoothly, whether it's turning systems on or off. Just last night, there was a system failure, but thanks to real-time monitoring, I quickly identified the problem and got the necessary replacement parts."
"FortiMonitor has a very intuitive dashboard, which makes it particularly helpful for analyzing traffic, alerts, and other information."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is what the devices are used for. We have big backups for our Cradlepoint solutions, but FortiMonitor is a great routing device and we love working with them."
"The most valuable feature of FortiMonitor is the overall ability to monitor the health of the environment."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"The solution helps to see client infrastructure. It has many boxes and blinks green or red when the station goes up or down. We have different domains for the device groups that we monitor."
"Overall, I would recommend FortiMonitor to others."
"Nexthink is a great tool for device analytics, providing complete insight into devices and great solutions with many integrations that simplify work."
"With this solution we are able to link issues to automatic actions that will solve the problem."
"I like everything about this product."
"The return on investment is great."
"Nexthink allows our customers to have visibility into their whole environment and security. And it lets you install the agent as a package for selected users instead of every user. This helps cut down on the delay involved in a bulk installation."
"Number of service incidents dropped by more than 20%."
"This solution is improved each time there is a version update."
"The DEX scores help because they give an overview of how well an organization is doing across the industry compared to other organizations."

Cons

"We use FortiToken, and it's a pain to use because you have to send things through your phone and then confirm by email. Only after this can you log in. It's dual-factor authentication. I wish that I could just log in or bring up a dashboard where I could log in from."
". Enhancements in the dashboard, such as clearer alerting, maintenance window management, software version tracking, and better visualization, would be beneficial."
"FortiMonitor could improve by having compatibility with other operating systems, such as Linux."
"FortiMonitor needs to improve its alert system."
"Sometimes, during high CPU usage, we cannot access FortiMonitor and must refresh it."
"I think the current features are really good for me, nothing else comes to mind right now. Maybe some small improvements could be made in the customization and configuration part of the UI to make it easier or more intuitive. Customizable UI options, like we saw in the demo, could be helpful for everyone. But in our operational environment, having clear health status and system details is crucial for us system engineers. One feature I'd really like to see is a credential management system. It would help us keep track of who's logged in and how many times, which is important due to user restrictions. Sometimes, we need to manage logins more efficiently, like logging off other users to free up credentials. So having a feature like that would be really helpful."
"Additionally, there are no AI features in FortiMonitor, which might be an area for enhancement."
"There is room for improvement in the FortiMonitor report. It is not ideal for showcasing to tech customers or managers, especially when trying to display high CPU usage from logins within a specific range of months or the most recent month."
"I think Nexthink could be improved regarding its proprietary query language, as it sometimes makes it difficult to create queries."
"There could be improvements in monitoring user sentiments."
"There could be a streamlined NQL and SQL query functionality, as it can be complex. An easier way to modify queries would be beneficial for the product."
"The next release could use some improvement in the tools that are provided."
"In our company, we can't deploy anything from Nexthink the way we can deploy from any other endpoint solutions. It is not possible to create any dashboard in Nexthink...One should be able to schedule monitoring in Nexthink."
"Customer support for Nexthink is a pain point due to unclear SLAs and requests for logs that are not needed. We have checked things from our end, but sometimes simple solutions are made overly complex."
"The stability of this solution could be greatly improved to avoid performance issues."
"I feel there is some gap in the application interfaces of Nexthink."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's pricing model in Vietnam is a bit high. I rate the product price as an eight out of ten."
"We have a large customer base for Fortinet, and the additional buying power got us really great discounts."
"On a scale from one to ten, I rate the pricing a nine since it is a good solution that is available at a cheap price."
"The price of FortiMonitor is approximately $200 annually for 225 users. The price is competitive."
"There are additional costs needed for certain functionality, such as scalability."
"In terms of licensing, while it may not be the most expensive option on the market, it's relatively cost-effective. You can obtain licenses at a lower cost, with the calculation being straightforward. For example, if you onboard around 5,000 devices, you'll need approximately 5,000 licenses, as each device typically counts as one license."
"Compared to other solutions, FortiMonitor is a very expensive solution."
"FortiMonitor's price is very high."
"There are certain layers when it comes to pricing. The product has three layers and these layers are associated with certain sources. For example, the top layer have the premium services and the bottom layer has the basic services."
"I have seen it help improve the user experience scores. This helped clients to save costs on another tool that they were trying to deploy in order to improve the user experience by just deploying some scripts. We were able to identify the issues and help them remediate those using our help. The process does not take much time and it provided background on end user performance. Therefore, they were able to save a lot, e.g., for approximately 50,000 endpoints at two dollars per machine per year, that is about $100,000 in savings."
"Nexthink can pay for itself quickly if you identify and complete the most valuable use cases. The tool can do so much that to purely compare the price in a static way to other tools in your arsenal would be a mistake. If you do a more dynamic comparison that’s based on the overall functionality and use cases possible then it comes out cheaper. You need to consider it a relative measurement against potential use cases, size of the organization, maturity of organization, etc."
"I would rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten. The tool's pricing model is pay-as-you-use."
"With this implementation of the Act and Engage module, I believe that there is a one-time fee for a two-month period, which is for the support team to make additional customizations."
