Has supported multi-branch connectivity effectively and still has potential for deeper feature utilization
Centralized management via FortiManager for my organization is very useful and a must-have. I have used Sophos Central as a manager and Fortinet manager as well. I believe Fortinet Manager has more in-depth features compared to Sophos or some other manager. The threat intelligence integration in Fortinet FortiExtender helps me to meet my industry's compliance standards. Fortinet FortiExtender brought many benefits to my organization. It was a very useful solution for us to have such a service.

Centralized features have simplified deployment and improved day-to-day network management
One of the best features of HPE Wireless WAN is Wi-Fi Direct, as it provides dual-band frequency and helps to connect Bluetooth with IoT devices. I am comfortable with this feature and find it beneficial for connectivity. I use centralized management features such as WLC. They have improved operational efficiency significantly. It is one of the best tools we have for centralized management because it is easy to manage, manually delete, and create sites. This makes it easy to implement policies across the network. I see measurable benefits from this centralized solution, which is quite easy to handle as people are comfortable managing the tool. Users do not need hardcore technical expertise to operate it on a day-to-day basis, making it quite comfortable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With Fortinet, it's cheaper and we don't sacrifice quality."
"The product is easy to use and easy to integrate."
"Having the FortiExtender as a part of an SD-WAN topology is a major competitive value."
"The overall stability deserves a perfect rating."
"Centralized management via FortiManager for my organization is very useful and a must-have."
"We appreciate that this solution can be used as an active secondary link as well as a backup."
"The integration is easy and it works as a normal internet connection."
"For me, the best feature of Fortinet FortiExtender is its integration with an external solution such as a 5G LTE broadband modem, wired modem, and cellular network. I also like that the product can be integrated into one device or a unified device, and that is one of its best features because it allows you to manage and centralize the control of every device."
"We primarily use this solution to back up everything and we use it for sharing files."
"It is a good and stable solution."
"What's most valuable in HPE Wireless WAN is that it works fine for customers with existing HPE controllers."
"This is a product that I would recommend because of its quick and easy setup."
"I like their features, such as reliability and high availability."
"HPE Wireless offers easy approval due to its budget-friendly pricing, is scalable and user-friendly for administrators, has commendable stability with no issues in almost two years of use, and its ease of cloud-based management is a standout advantage."
"We've found the scalability to be good."
"The most important is that the solution is stable."

Cons

"I would like to see them make it smaller in the next release so that it has a smaller footprint for mobile clients."
"What most of my clients are telling me is the price is a problem."
"The product is also not as user-friendly, so that's another area for improvement."
"We would like to see some improvement in the price for 5G models, as they are currently very expensive."
"The solution would be a lot better if it was a little bit more intuitive. Additionally, the help menu would be a lot better if it was easier to identify the items that I was looking for. I find the graphical interface a little bit difficult to navigate. And I find the font that is used on the HTML interface not conducive to being able to be read in low light situations."
"The engineering of the solution has some negative points, especially in terms of troubleshooting. It's difficult to troubleshoot when we have a problem. It's not like other products like Cisco or Palo Alto which make troubleshooting much easier."
"There is a huge downside because we need to remove and insert the SIM to get it working."
"In future updates of Fortinet FortiExtender, I would definitely want to see AI. They are working on the AI feature, but so far it is a great, amazing product."
"It's very old-fashioned, which is why we have made the decision to replace it."
"Scalability is an aspect of this product that should be improved."
"Integration might be improved, particularly with a single sign-on for Active Directory."
"There are some areas that need improvement, such as connectivity issues and additional features that other products have."
"The scalability and the support could be better."
"HPE should improve performance and stability."
"The HPE Wireless dashboard could be more user-friendly."
"The solution works smoothly unless more than twenty users connect to a single access point, at which point it becomes overloaded."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I've only used the open-source version of Fortinet FortiExtender, but I know that it has some features that require you to pay for a license."
"I'm not sure what the cost is. However, I anticipate that the purchase price will range between $2,500 and $5,000."
"The solution is not that expensive."
"The solution is quite expensive. You have to pay for every node and it can get expensive fast, it is approximately £3,000 per month."
"There is a license for this solution and the license is normally paid annually but this depends on the contract."
"If you are concerned with your budget, then you can go for the cheaper model."
"The price of HPE Wireless WAN is high."
