Improving alert visibility and reporting has reduced workload and strengthened security posture
Huntress Managed EDR could be improved by providing more visibility into each alert that comes in and what action was taken on it. There have been times when an alert was received through Microsoft Defender indicating an account was accessed, when in reality it was blocked by a conditional access policy, yet when checking the Huntress portal, that event does not appear at all, lacking indication that it was raised and investigated as not a threat. The reporting in Huntress Managed EDR is fairly basic, as the only available report is effectively an executive summary. Although it contains useful information, other platforms have reporting engines that are much more robust and customizable, functionality that appears to be missing in Huntress.

Security monitoring has provided full incident visibility and enables rapid threat remediation
For improving SonicWall Managed Detection and Response, it has to integrate some more EDRs, such as Trend Micro and multiple OEMs, such as Secure Right. They need to integrate that as well, and also integrate other firewalls such as Sophos and Palo Alto to enhance the MDR services. If there is any user who is using Palo Alto firewall and Trend Micro endpoint security, SonicWall Managed Detection and Response needs to manage that too, so SonicWall can also manage the same Palo Alto firewall and Trend Micro or Secure Right. In my experience with SonicWall Managed Detection and Response, it is functional, but they need to integrate such things to improve the MDR services.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I would absolutely recommend Huntress to other users. If you are considering it, go for it."
"Huntress helps by highlighting potential issues, allowing us to take proactive measures."
"My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is that it lets me sleep at night, knowing that the Huntress team is making sure that all of our devices are protected, and monitoring those alerts means that we don't have to be so worried about it."
"Using Huntress Managed EDR has helped reduce the need for expensive security tools and to hire expensive security analysts, which is important for our organization because it keeps the level of security heightened and across the top of all of our clients' minds."
"Huntress helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts."
"Huntress has improved our security significantly by 90 percent."
"After deploying Huntress Managed EDR, I saw the benefits immediately because as we were installing it, we started getting those alerts."
"The most valuable aspect of Huntress is its 24/7 SOC service."
"With MDR, when we purchase SonicWall Managed Detection and Response, we have visibility of our incidents and our malicious behavior traffic, and not only the visibility, they can also remediate that same thing."

Cons

"In the next release, I'd like to see more intuitive dashboards."
"The application control system could benefit from improvements in identifying and managing both whitelisted and blacklisted applications."
"There should be more engagement with the MSP group or their largest clients. They should have focus group discussions on what they can do to improve the product. A more transparent way for the support team at Huntress and our IT team to collaborate to make it faster and easier would be beneficial."
"Regarding improvements for Huntress Managed EDR, there was an example yesterday where the UI had unclear directions and it caused the agent itself to be removed from the endpoint device during a critical moment."
"One thing they could improve is evolving from an EDR to an MDR, like Blackpoint. This transition would enable automatic remediation of anything that looks dangerous, including within Microsoft 365."
"The ITDR product is coming along great, however, we are still getting many false positives."
"The product could be improved in terms of customization options available for reports."
"The alert emails that they send out with the different portions of their product sometimes are not similarly formatted, which makes automatically processing those alerts a bit more difficult in our PSA."
"For improving SonicWall Managed Detection and Response, it has to integrate some more EDRs, such as Trend Micro and multiple OEMs, such as Secure Right."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It works well for an MSP."
"Regarding the pricing for Huntress Managed EDR, I was amazed when I heard the price; I thought it was going to be way more than what it is based on the quality."
"We haven't had any problems with Huntress' pricing. We're at 250 workstations, and we've grown considerably this year. They've been able to handle everything that we've thrown at them within that time frame. They're also reducing the price based on how many endpoints we add."
"Huntress Managed EDR offers a fair pricing model."
"The solution is cheap compared to other alternatives. It offers good value for money. For the whole solution, it's up to about five pounds per device per month. Considering what it does, I think that's very good value."
"Huntress is an easy sell to clients because it does all the heavy lifting. Sometimes, they will buck a little at the price because they want a free antivirus or EDR. We tell them that we use Huntress on all our machines. That is our standard process for all the machines we roll out. When we give that advice, people are pretty willing to say okay."
"I rate the product's price a five or six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive since it is a fairly priced product."
"I believe Huntress offers competitive pricing overall."
