Test Manager at a engineering company with 1,001-5,000 employees
Intuitive enough and easy to learn, but in terms of folder organization, it could be better
Inflectra SpiraTest is the new kid on the block compared to Jira and Azure. Still, when I started exploring the tool, I realized that it was no different from other tools I've used in the past, but it all boils down to adaptability because the features would always be more or less the same. I found Inflectra SpiraTest intuitive enough. It's also easy to learn, so this is what I like about it.

Integration with tool streamlines test management but needs better exporting options
I use it for test management within Jira This tool boasts an incredibly user-friendly interface that integrates seamlessly with other Jira tools. I particularly appreciate its intuitive features for designing test plans, creating test cases, and executing test cycles. Some areas for improvement,…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Over time and further upgrades these have improved."
"This is the biggest plus; for the whole time I was using SpiraTest, I had an impression of being the only customer which counts."
"I found Inflectra SpiraTest intuitive enough. It's also easy to learn, so this is what I like about it."
"It has created paper trail, and an audit history with detailed information on where the defect is currently from, what environment it is in, and whether it is being worked on, and if so, who by."
"It has helped our company to centralise our testing efforts and create better visibility into our testing."
"We were able to add a step-by-step procedure for someone to follow to assist in testing."
"Instead of IBM or HP tools, SpiraTest has affordable prices and support."
"It is the best QA management tool, good for all types of industries."
"It has integration with test automation tools."
"It's very simple to use, which is beneficial, and it has 90% of the basic features you need without having to pay a lot of extra money."
"The solution does its job well."
"We use the solution for test case management."
"At this moment, it is fulfilling our requirements."
"Now, we are getting consolidated reports in one place, we have all our metrics and repository together, and this is helpful."
"Zephyr Enterprise is a stable solution."
"If anyone is looking for a good, lightweight, flexible and agile test management product, I think they would do very well with Zephyr Enterprise."

Cons

"Areas of improvement are all minor things to streamline the process of setting up a release."
"However, when you need to apply a change to a workflow which is used in multiple projects, you need to modify the projects one by one."
"I was not that impressed with the test case creation, but it did give good metrics of number of completion, not completed, on hold or defects."
"The folder organization in Inflectra SpiraTest could be better, though I cannot comment whether that is structure-related. Most of what I need would probably be in the tool, but as a test manager, I need to be able to create dashboards and reports easily."
"Not much room for tweaking of menus. It's not open for use of add-ins/automation, or at least instability the moment a version differs."
"The deciding factor to not use SpiraTest anymore was because it was cumbersome to integrate with TFS."
"More flexibility in setting default behaviour of particular items, e.g. releases/iterations do not inherit their child nodes' test cases, the same with requirements and subrequirements."
"Customizing test reports seems to be something one must have (or gain) expertise in."
"Zephyr Enterprise needs to redesign the reporting."
"Creating better default varieties of reporting would make the product much better and more popular."
"The reporting, and the ability to reorganize the test repository, which are a little stifling. There is definitely room for improvement there."
"We have a lot of automation for our products, and we require a utility for its integration with automation. Currently, we have to write this utility ourselves. It would be great if they can provide such a utility."
"We would like support for the agile and behavior-driven development (BDD) approaches."
"The only thing I have missed is an easy way to configure showing the latest execution results of all test cases linked in JIRA (story/epic), thus, receiving the state of a feature."
"Additionally, they could improve the daily reporting. It does generate reports, but they are screen based reports."
"The solution is not really stable. Sometimes in the past, some pages wouldn't load due to issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing was excellent. I would recommend the enterprise solution."
"I Googled the pricing for Inflectra SpiraTest, and it's about $4,000 annually."
"DFS is more expensive than Zephyr. DFS is around $32 per person, whereas Zephyr is $10 per person. There is a major difference in the price, which is the main reason why we are trying to shift to Zephyr."
"It costs a couple of thousand dollars for a little more than 125 users, per month."
