User-friendly interface has enabled intuitive operations while customization of reports needs polishing
Each product has its disadvantages; for Infor ION, reporting is the biggest downside. The standard reports available are not particularly impressive. When users click for a report, they expect it to be visually appealing, which is not the case, especially with Infor M3. From a technical standpoint, comparing Infor ION to SAP and Oracle, SAP HANA appears much better currently. However, this depends on the application level or the customization that vendors provide. The UX or UI component is crucial, which is why multiple small organizations focus specifically on UX/UI development. They develop visually appealing reports that can be used in Excel or Outlook. Some customers even create orders from Outlook. The implementation quality ultimately depends on the expertise of the person implementing that particular functionality.

Simplified integrations bring flexibility and efficiency to diverse industries through comprehensive features and robust support
SAP is already trying to make improvements for SAP Process Orchestration by releasing updates every quarter, including patches and modules, and from a security standpoint, while it's a tightly coupled tool, they are introducing a lot of enhancements aligned with current market trends. There are standard contents readily available for starting integrations, which suit around 90% of every industry across verticals including pharma, manufacturing, and employee data central with SuccessFactors integration. Regarding functionality-wise improvements in SAP Process Orchestration, they are now incorporating the Salesforce system. Previously, we needed to rely on a third-party adapter for integration within SAP, but now they are building their own adapters to connect with Salesforce. Additionally, there are options like data connectors using Ariba coming up with SAP Process Orchestration. There's much more to explore, especially as they release new patches, enhancements, and adapters each quarter.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ION acts as a middleware that allows me to handle all the volumes of incoming and outgoing documents with partners."
"I have found the most valuable feature to be the ability to monitor integration performance and the reasons for the failure of inbound and outbound transactions. We can see both inbound and outbound transactions, and it gives us a mirror image or the whole history of all inbound and outbound transactions between Infor M3 Business Engine and the third parties."
"The tool's most valuable feature is middleware capabilities."
"When you buy an Infor ION product, you can start using it from day one, and there is a very short learning curve."
"ION is good for building custom middleware boxes."
"We haven't had any issues with ION so far."
"Its stability is commendable, as I rarely encounter bugs or problems."
"Great monitoring tools and has its own alert framework."
"The monitoring is one of the greatest features in Process Orchestration because it is user-friendly and easy for somebody who is not experienced."
"The most valuable feature is the seamless integration with backend systems."
"The solution's technical support is good."
"The most valuable features of SAP Process Orchestration are its system monitoring and alerts."
"SAP Process Orchestration is middleware where we are able to manage and interact with everything from a single location. One of the most beneficial areas is monitoring which is very easy because it is all in one place. There are many adapters added recently that can be used for new functionality. The solution is easy to operate and it is more mature than the cloud solution provided by SAP."
"I rate the product's setup phase a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy since it is a very easy process."
"The product has good technical support but you usually will not need it because it is quite stable."

Cons

"ION's integration with older applications could be better."
"The main issue for me is that the current product is obsolete, and I need to migrate to Infor 10 for more features."
"The main issue for me is that the current product is obsolete, and I need to migrate to Infor 10 for more features. Accessing the interface and monitoring aspects is problematic, and I hope it improves in the new version."
"Infor ION doesn't provide connectors for all integration touchpoints. Sometimes, we may have to build our own. It incurs additional costs for the customer."
"Each product has its disadvantages; for Infor ION, reporting is the biggest downside. The standard reports available are not particularly impressive."
"I would like to see ION add automated setup and integration with Salesforce. They need to work on these types of tools."
"The dashboard is not very simple and can be a bit tricky."
"SAP should improve the user interface, as it often lacks modern features and aesthetic appeal."
"SAP Process Orchestration could improve from an API standpoint. This is not an API management tool, which is one of its drawbacks. However, SAP has released an SAP Cloud Platform Integration which has all of the features, such as API management along with process integration to replace what they had previously."
"There are two main areas for improvement: performance and cost."
"This is an on-premise platform and one area they can improve on is having the ability to work with SaaS solutions."
"The solution could be more scalable."
"The monitoring governance offered by SAP is too technical and needs to be geared more toward business users."
"It is not a scalable solution for the cloud. I would not recommend this for the cloud."
"The product roadmap suggests it will approach the end of support in several years, and a lot of innovations are now implemented by SAP not in SAP PO, but in SAP Integration Suite, hence, the platform is stable, but doesn't receive a lot of new features in recent updates."
