Has required better change management and easier tool integration but supports certification needs and strong collaboration
The visualization tools are nearly similar, so it does not matter if you use DNG or even Jama Connect, but at Jama Connect, the selection and setup for running complex scripts is very powerful and fast compared to IBM, which is sometimes very slow due to the complex software which has lost focus on usability. The collaboration capabilities of Jama Connect are fantastic, and when comparing IBM, PTC, and Jama Connect, they are nearly equal because all three have recognized the importance of collaboration in today's work environment. The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools.

Have built reliable end-to-end pipelines and streamlined cloud provisioning through consistent collaboration practices
I am currently working with open-source tools such as Jenkins for my main CI/CD pipeline, and for enterprise clients, I am using Microsoft Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline. For other clients, I have also implemented CI/CD YAML pipelines through GitLab CI/CD workflow and GitHub Actions. I am creating the end-to-end CI/CD pipeline from development to deployment and monitoring all of this. Azure Boards is easier than Jira for my understanding because there are very easy points to manage the Agile methodology which we work on. Because it is a GUI, sometimes the process may take a few minutes more than the CLI process since the backend is running the exact CLI, but we are commanding through the GUI. There is definitely a time lag, but it is more secure. Microsoft Azure DevOps pipelines work very seamlessly rather than other CI/CD pipelines, as of my understanding. The downside is that the process may take more time when deploying some clusters, Kubernetes, Azure AKS service, or some vast microservice architecture deployments. There may be a little bit of lag I feel, though I cannot tell very strictly that this is a disadvantage, but sometimes it takes a little more time than other cloud infrastructures. All the major things are done by GUI, which is somewhat a little slow. However, if considering automations, process, monitoring, and provisioning, then it is the best cloud service across all the other service providers. Our implementation is a hybrid cloud. Microsoft Azure DevOps is definitely easily scalable. I have worked on many Kubernetes infrastructures and microservice deployments, and I have seen that replication is very good because it is very easy. The replication process is very straightforward. I definitely advocate for using less code because it is very time-consuming. If using GCP or Amazon Web Service, there is more interaction related to work over the CLI process. In terms of Microsoft Azure DevOps, there are many things done by the GUI, which is the best part.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is good at requirements management and test management, and for day-to-day users, it is very user-friendly."
"Support has been excellent - an advantage of working with a somewhat smaller vendor interested in making users successful."
"I can say that we enjoy Jama Connect."
"The user experience is better than the competition."
"In Jama Connect, users have the capability to view and manage all test cases directly within the platform and execute them. The entire product specification, spanning various domains such as electrical, mechanical, software, and testing, is consolidated within Jama Connect."
"We use Jama Connect mainly for requirements management."
"Jama Connect is a good tool for the entire software development cycle."
"The impact that Jama Connect provides for my company overall is significant as it saves a huge amount of time."
"I like a lot of the features in Azure DevOps, including the creation of test plans, the reporting features such as charts and progress reporting, and the user-friendly interface."
"The reports have been most valuable. We have created some dashboards allowing us to be able to check our teams, their progress, and mission plans."
"Azure DevOps is highly valued for being an all-in-one solution."
"It is a well-integrated product in terms of the development lifecycle."
"What I like the most is the DevOps Boards; it's easy to create a hierarchical project structure, assign tasks to people, and then track their tasks."
"Technical support has been excellent; on that side, Microsoft is very good, and the customer support of Microsoft has really improved this past year, and on the cloud side also we are very satisfied because it offers very good support."
"The initial setup is very easy."
"Microsoft Azure DevOps has been very good for creating pipelines, and all the solutions for creating task management for developers and for the business."

Cons

"The solution is expensive."
"I think Jama Connect's change management feature is not well developed at this stage, as it lacks many steps for marks, building IDs, and the usual functionalities such as comparing past changes and generating reports automatically."
"We did have some issues of scalability issues early on. I believe we pushed the envelope on numbers of test cases, and did suffer some performance issues, and outages in effect."
"The collaboration feature in Jama Connect could be improved because it is only used by a limited number of people within an organization due to license costs."
"Test management can be improved. It's not so scalable. The user interface needs to split things into small projects."
"The user interface could be modernized and the product lacks project management functionalities."
"There are some security concerns with Jama Connect, including two-factor enablement."
"I believe one of the weak points is the reporting side. You must export inter-readable reports from Jama if you do not use the system as a repository for your design history file. Jama is great if you keep it in Jama, but reporting out requires some customization to get it right."
"Individually, the components are not quite as good as others in the market."
"Its UI can be easier and more customer-friendly. The UI can be improved from the project management and agile perspective."
"One thing I would note is that it's hard to know what is included or not in the product."
"The solution is generally stable but not entirely issue-free."
"The dashboard could be improved. Although there is flexibility in configuring it, there are some metrics that we have to configure ourselves."
"Some things like project management, tasks, progress, and having work progress views require us to use some external tools, or to create our own internal tools. These are not native to DevOps. It would be ideal if, instead of searching for third-party solutions, they had these feature sets or capabilities included under DevOps."
"DevOps is simple to use, but it is severely limited in terms of project management."
"The initial three months were particularly challenging, and without the help of an external consultant, adapting to the change in work processes would have been difficult."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost seems very competitive with other offerings."
"Jama Connect is a little pricy."
"To have a single source for all the requirements and all the change requests our company gets is the most valuable feature. It has also helped us to keep track of reviews."
"If you want to have creative licenses, pricing may be an issue with the licenses, as it can become quite expensive over time to serve many people."
"Compared to other tools, Microsoft Azure DevOps is a cheap solution."
"Licensing cost per user is approximately $11 to $15. We have about 400 users, but not all are active. We have around 200 to 300 active users."
"The solution costs $5 or $10 per user, per month."
"I don't have a problem with the pricing."
"The main agile features are very expensive."
"For the basic license, it is around five euros per month."
"The costs are moderate and justify the value provided."
"The price is cheaper than Jira and some of the other competing tools."
