Lightweight tool aids in remote management but needs better support
Primarily, we are using it for remote monitoring and management as an MSP. We are basically a reseller; we are a service provider, so Kaseya VSA is one of our tools which we use for our managed services The best features of Kaseya VSA are that it's lightweight over the machine and does not create…

Transition has been smooth and integration supports compliance with ease
The transition to N-able N-central was very smooth. We were confident that our migration would not affect any operations. It was easy to migrate our clients into the new solutions. What we have experienced is that only branding has changed along with the way reports are structured. The solution is more advanced and the transition was well thought out. The process is managed properly. Regarding the integration capabilities of N-able N-central, my colleagues who work with this solution recently completed an ISO quality audit. The auditor could understand and manage how we handle our assets and environment because it's quite simple, even for someone who doesn't use the platform daily. This demonstrates that we are using a solution that meets our compliance requirements. N-able N-central is easy to use. Once licenses are provisioned, it's simple for my team to deploy the solution from anywhere remotely, provided there is internet access or remote access to the device.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have all the necessary modules for monitoring on the server and workstations."
"Patch management was very useful. Backdoor access to the clients was also very useful."
"After deploying Kaseya VSA, we were able to reduce our IT by one full-time engineer."
"Kaseya VSA's best features are auditing and reporting."
"The product has allowed the company to provide faster service, which means higher customer satisfaction because when we do our jobs faster and more efficiently, the customer is happier."
"The patch management and the remote support are very good, especially the remote support. There is a module built into the solution which allows remote control without necessarily interrupting the user. We could manage things in the background without them seeing or interacting with anything, which is a very useful feature."
"The most valuable features of Kaseya VSA are remote control, live connect, and automation."
"When compared to what we were previously using, one of the most appealing features is that it combines remote control, patch management, and software management into a single portal."
"N-able N-central is very scalable."
"It's a very robust product. They're continuing to invest and put new enhancements into the product. They're very open about what their roadmap is, which is very good for us because then as a business, we can plan."
"The transition to N-able N-central was very smooth; we were confident that our migration would not affect any operations, and it was easy to migrate our clients into the new solutions."
"The most helpful features of N-able N-central include providing a single pane of glass for many insights in an environment regarding their patching, their assets, their devices in general, and the active issues that they show."
"The support is at a good level. So normally, we can always get to a solution when we are stuck with some monitoring problems that we encounter."
"I like the remote connectivity, reporting suite, and patch management module."
"N-able N-central has numerous good features. The asset tracking capability is powerful, allowing you to track hardware and software on devices connected to your network. The remote control is smooth, securely enabling remote access to servers and routers. It can be integrated with ticketing systems and other tools like CrowdStrike and N-able EDR for comprehensive network monitoring and security. The automation feature is handy, allowing you to schedule tasks, respond to system triggers, and automate problem resolution, such as handling disk space issues automatically."
"N-able N-central is an easy tool to implement with customers."

Cons

"Our main concern is related to security. Kaseya had a ransomware attack a few months ago, and it was a big concern for us because Kaseya was the main RMM tool that we were using. We faced a lot of difficulties accessing our users and systems. So, security is our main concern."
"We actually upgraded the solution due to the fact that we needed the support for Apple devices. We haven't had a chance to test that part of the product just yet, however, that was our biggest criticism of the product prior to this most recent update."
"Its scripting language kind of sucked."
"The management of patches also needs improvement."
"The user interface is somewhat outdated."
"However, we were hacked, and for a few weeks, it was quite bad."
"The UI could be streamlined. The menu has 18 options, but we only use three. It has a lot of redundant stuff. Software management, software deployment, patch management, etc., all do the same thing, but they're different programs and licenses."
"The network monitoring module today is not the best one."
"The support from our direct team is very good, but the support from their day-to-day ongoing help desk isn't that good. They have still got some work to do on that, but they have been focusing on that a lot over the last number of years. So, it has gotten a lot better than it was."
"N-central has limited mobile device management (MDM) support, specifically for Android devices. This limitation affected a deal with a client who had numerous Android devices to manage. It would be beneficial if N-central could expand its MDM support to include Android devices."
"At this moment, we encounter stability issues with N-able N-central from time to time."
"N-able N-central could improve the remote access, my technicians have complained about it. They have used other free tools instead to compensate, such as TeamViewer. Additionally, when using remote access on the web, it is lacking reports."
"The industry has moved towards Redfish for out-of-band and in-band monitoring, yet N-able N-central still relies on older protocols like SNMP."
"Involving AI in the platform could improve it further."
"We have to do the effort ourselves because Enable is not really strategically going there because I assume there's not much money to make to improve that or to convince customers to start with their product."
"The integration with other applications could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It depends on what products you want. Kaseya loves packages, and if you are packaging, it is more affordable. If you're not packaging, it tends to be a little bit more expensive than others."
"I think it costs more than ManageEngine."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable."
"With the on-prem, you buy the agent license. That's a one-time fee, and it varies depending on how many you have. You also pay annual maintenance on the number that you have. So, there are two fees involved: a one-time fee and a recurring fee."
"The solution is robust and the price is good for the features that are provided."
"Though I don't have complete visibility over the solution's pricing, the solution is not cheap, from what I remember. The solution is on the pricey end."
"The dollar exchange rate in Brazil is very high, so the price should be better for our country."
"Kaseya VSA can be described as a fairly priced product."
"The pricing and licensing are average, almost six out of ten."
"N-able N-central is not an expensive solution."
