I am a consultant and do not recommend specific products. I work with customers, and they decide what they want to buy. I'm a CISO as a service, dealing with security. I'm from an integrator company, and they usually sell a few products. One customer uses NetScaler for a VDI system with Citrix…

Reliable network monitoring and proactive analytics enhance decision-making with areas for configuration improvement
NNMi is an OpenText product and serves as the OpenText Network Node Manager monitoring tool. OpenText Network Node Manager is used for network monitoring of switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and all network devices. It can support any SNMP protocol. The advantages of OpenText Network Node Manager stand out because it can build the topology, Layer 2 topology, and Layer 3 automatically once devices are added, connecting them together, such as device one, for interface one, connected with interface one on another device. The integration capability of OpenText Network Node Manager is excellent because it integrates directly, and I can configure the integration to feed the CMDB, from where I can get all information from network monitoring into the CMDB, linking it with the infrastructure and correlating events. I use advanced fault monitoring and management features in OpenText Network Node Manager for topology and fault monitoring, as it can alert or generate an event if the value exceeds or falls below a predefined threshold for SNMP traps. The predictive analytics impact planning and optimization strategies because the product can be linked with another product for analytic analysis, allowing me to see the interface utilization trend and proactively take action if the utilization increases. The automated network discovery features and topology mapping in OpenText Network Node Manager have a positive impact. It supports a bundle with another product for NetFlow to monitor traffic, ports, protocols, and SLAs, and I can build compliance reports to address security vulnerabilities, such as identifying all devices using outdated protocols.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's technical support is good."
"Allows the user to easily scale out application delivery. Provides secure remote access. Ease of management and business continuity support. Powerful, reliable, and feature rich solution all in one appliance."
"Citrix Director has been great. It gives us one pane of glass to be able to monitor what's going on with the user sessions as well as to keep on top of the virtual desktops, any servers that may be offline or behaving suspiciously, or any troublesome spots like disconnections. We also use Citrix Studio for maintaining the actual servers that are hosting these applications. We use it for delivery groups in case we need to modify delivery groups in regards to which groups have access to which applications. It has been very helpful."
"Load balancing, cache redirection, content switching, all connected with traffic management."
"If a company wants to have a secure environment and they want the performance then this is a good solution."
"Easy, user-friendly setup with content switching and integrated caching features."
"Citrix ADC is a product that I can recommend, without any doubt or hesitation."
"With Netscaler, we have a solution divided in two data centers, a secure and unique point of access, and balanced traffic between all the critical components in the Citrix solutions."
"A good enterprise-level solution."
"A complete solution for network monitoring."
"It gives us a good overview of what's happening in our networks and the devices in the networks."
"Topology creation is the most valuable feature."
"The best feature is the solution's entire credibility with all vendors."
"The HPE suite is amazingly beautiful, has a fantastic user experience, and provides a high amount of simplification across transactions when adopting cloud technologies significantly."
"We do not have any issues stability-wise."
"Overall, the tool helps maintain the health of the network."

Cons

"The technical support has room for improvement."
"But if they're consulting as an enterprise product and in a very large scale deployment enterprise, Citrix is not a complete solution."
"Citrix ADC can improve if it provides a more user-friendly interface and clear working protocols. Citrix is not working with classic RFC, it is working with Citrix RFC, which is not common in the world. If engineers of Citrix can provide us with more information on working with the classic IP networks it would be a benefit."
"The main areas for improvement would be around documentation and support. If a feature can be used in two or three ways, show that feature being used in all of those ways. Documentation seems to only cover the primary use case and leaves you to either run through trial and error or consult the user community. In terms of support, I have never actually had them solve any of my issues. I have always solved them myself and then provided the resolution to support."
"Citrix is more expensive than Horizon."
"Our customers' feedback was that support wasn't the best."
"When a new version comes out, sometimes, my existing configuration gets wiped out. They should work on this so that my existing configuration doesn't get impacted with an upgrade to a newer version. There could also reduce frequent firmware upgrade activities and have a stable version so that once we upgrade it, we don't have to upgrade it for two to three years."
"Citrix ADM needs to improve on its additional features and reduce the communication ports."
"Sometimes technical support is not so amazing. We need to wait a long time to get a solution for a ticket."
"We have not had a good experience with technical support from OpenText. Many cases take a month to be resolved."
"Micro Focus Network Node Manager is not powered to drill down for traffic visibility."
"Configuration was a bit cumbersome for SNMP traps on the routers and configuration of the SPIs was a little complicated."
"We had some issues with some of the features, some modules are not meeting expectations."
"It needs better management for the routing protocol, which right now is really not very good."
"It is hindering us so much because we cannot give it directly to customers because after a number of connections, the system goes down within one minute."
"The technical documentation takes experience and much reading to master."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licensing fees including technical support are approximately $3,500 USD."
"It is very pricey, but we get it. If you need the best, money shouldn't be a problem."
"After deployment, Citrix Netscaler shifted to a subscription-based license scheme for support, which is slightly more expensive."
"Its price is comparable to others and affordable."
"The tool is cheap."
"This product is more expensive than some of the competitors."
"Regarding pricing, while it's expensive, I can't comment on the exact ROI without a budget analysis. However, in terms of service quality, it's worth the price."
"Licensing is adequate. I wanted to have a more prominent license, but until I do they don't give enough support. The additional cost would be too much."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"The solution is priced mid-range compared to the competition."
"It's an expensive solution."
"It is more inexpensive than other products in the market."
"I wasn't involved in the pricing, but I think it's quite expensive."
