I am a consultant and do not recommend specific products. I work with customers, and they decide what they want to buy. I'm a CISO as a service, dealing with security. I'm from an integrator company, and they usually sell a few products. One customer uses NetScaler for a VDI system with Citrix…

Reliable network monitoring and proactive analytics enhance decision-making with areas for configuration improvement
NNMi is an OpenText product and serves as the OpenText Network Node Manager monitoring tool. OpenText Network Node Manager is used for network monitoring of switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and all network devices. It can support any SNMP protocol. The advantages of OpenText Network Node Manager stand out because it can build the topology, Layer 2 topology, and Layer 3 automatically once devices are added, connecting them together, such as device one, for interface one, connected with interface one on another device. The integration capability of OpenText Network Node Manager is excellent because it integrates directly, and I can configure the integration to feed the CMDB, from where I can get all information from network monitoring into the CMDB, linking it with the infrastructure and correlating events. I use advanced fault monitoring and management features in OpenText Network Node Manager for topology and fault monitoring, as it can alert or generate an event if the value exceeds or falls below a predefined threshold for SNMP traps. The predictive analytics impact planning and optimization strategies because the product can be linked with another product for analytic analysis, allowing me to see the interface utilization trend and proactively take action if the utilization increases. The automated network discovery features and topology mapping in OpenText Network Node Manager have a positive impact. It supports a bundle with another product for NetFlow to monitor traffic, ports, protocols, and SLAs, and I can build compliance reports to address security vulnerabilities, such as identifying all devices using outdated protocols.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The web application firewall is one feature I found valuable in the solution."
"Unified Gateway allows me to provide secure external access to applications for suppliers and customers while requiring Multi-Factor Authentication."
"The most valuable feature is the content switching."
"I think it's a really, really solid, well-run, nice solution."
"Available on any device and can be accessed on a wide area network."
"The stability is good. If there is a problem, the load will be shifted to other sites automatically, which has been a good experience for us."
"Citrix ADC is highly scalable; you can upgrade it and increase the bandwidth or add more security features, starting from the basic standard version up to the Platinum version."
"The most valuable features are for the ADMs and the overall monitoring environment."
"I would recommend the solution to others due to the fact that it's quite stable and mature."
"Our monitoring and network teams of less than 100 people use this solution. The availability and fault monitoring are good."
"It is a scalable product."
"The most important benefit is to have one controller and to get all information to a single point."
"Most valuable function would have to the internal causal engine and its root cause analyzer which keep us updated on critical errors and incidents in our network environment."
"The platform has good stability."
"Because of the topological network mapping, our management can quickly take action when there's a network problem."
"The solution is very stable, and once it's configured properly, stability and maintenance are strong with no issues in performance."

Cons

"If one device or switch fails, the failover to another device is not seamless which is painful."
"The main areas for improvement would be around documentation and support. If a feature can be used in two or three ways, show that feature being used in all of those ways. Documentation seems to only cover the primary use case and leaves you to either run through trial and error or consult the user community. In terms of support, I have never actually had them solve any of my issues. I have always solved them myself and then provided the resolution to support."
"Does not include security. A web application firewall would be a nice addition."
"I feel that Citrix NetScaler's customer support needs to improve."
"Technical support sometimes takes a little longer because of the multilevel ticket priority."
"The setup was not simple."
"The user interface could be more friendly. Some wizards and other documentation for administrators, as well as some use cases, helps us to understand the solution."
"I will try to migrate all the tools to the cloud because there is more lab and more VPN scalability available in the cloud. It is not available on-premises."
"The cost is high comparing to its competitors, but the results are awesome."
"We are very dissatisfied with the technical support. We have multiple demands and even the engineers are not satisfied."
"Micro Focus Network Node Manager is not the best when it comes to drilling down for more visibility, especially regarding traffic."
"Only to improve the GUI."
"Micro Focus Network Node Manager is not powered to drill down for traffic visibility."
"That is a little bit difficult for me because I haven't been personally dealing with the software directly, so the subcontractor has been the face in informing us what the product is capable of."
"Configuration was a bit cumbersome for SNMP traps on the routers and configuration of the SPIs was a little complicated."
"The way the solution currently works means I'm not able to customize my own reports."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In Turkey, everything is good, but it seems expensive for us due to the currency exchange. I don't have a specific rating scale, but if I had to rate the price, I would say it's around a six out of ten."
"It's not for startups or SOHO."
"This product is more expensive than some of the competitors."
"The firewall license is included by default, with no additional costs."
"We have been evaluating F5, Citrix, and other ADC products. Citrix is the most expense of all of them."
"It is an enterprise solution. Thus, its costs are reasonable."
"Our licensing fees including technical support are approximately $3,500 USD."
"We get value for money. Its price is fair. I don't think it is overpriced."
"I wasn't involved in the pricing, but I think it's quite expensive."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"The solution is priced mid-range compared to the competition."
"It's an expensive solution."
"It is more inexpensive than other products in the market."
