An affordable product that offers a reasonably good technical support
I rate the product's initial setup phase an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is a difficult setup phase, and ten is an easy setup phase. The product's installation phase took me around two weeks. On average, it usually takes about a week or two to deploy when everything is in place. The solution is deployed on a hybrid cloud from Azure.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Nutanix has its own backup system known as HYCU, as well as its own virtual server."
"We use this solution as an integrated backup solution and it is integrated from the backup provider to the Nutanix solution."
"I like the autofill-over feature and the simplicity of the solution."
"Nutanix, in my opinion, will eventually take over."
"Nutanix can converge legacy-style rack mount servers, so it is highly scalable."
"We find the ease of use valuable."
"Nutanix Mine Integrated Backup is useful for those who run an infrastructure where there might arise a need to do some transition or want to opt for digital transformation."
"Our primary use case for the solution is to back up our devices and equipment for employees and some equipment in airport software."
"Sandbox feature is like a power tool for troubleshooting."
"Veeam Is very useful for most environments and can scale up in most environments - such as Amazon or Azure."
"I spend 75-80% less time managing backups than I used to, troubleshooting is easier, and it has fewer moving parts than traditional backup solutions."
"I love the ability to either restore the entire VM or just a single file if needed."
"Replication, Sure Backup and Instant Recovery are very easy to use."
"The flexibility is the most valuable feature; it is an all-in-one solution for all kinds of infrastructure (physical, cloud, VM)."
"It lets you verify a backup with the least amount of effort."
"The features that I have found most valuable are its back up and recovery, as it is a simplified backup because you can do both databases - VM and HyperV, and it is a faster backup than the conventional methods because it takes up the bare metal."

Cons

"It could be cheaper."
"The pricing could be improved. It's an expensive solution."
"The solution could be cheaper and they should include more education or marketing materials for users to understand how to use the solution."
"The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"I would like to see the multi-cloud improve."
"Nutanix is not secure enough, and it needs to be more resilient."
"This solution could be improved with regards to the hosts that integrate with the platform itself. Each of the hosts integrated with the storage and networking only provide one instance of a backup."
"The solution's setup process should be simplified."
"The initial setup could be simplified."
"There is always scope for improvement (in fact with the v8 version there will be improvements in fact!), But already it is great!"
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having better integration with the cloud. Additionally, they do not have direct integration to S3 or Azure storage for the backups of the VMs. This feature would be beneficial because we have to go through the scalable repository which I do not like."
"It could also improve on its cloud tier, to tier data to the cloud once it is backed up."
"Its native capability for talking to the public cloud needs improvement. Connecting to a public cloud is a little bit more of a challenge when it comes to Veeam than it is with Rubrik or Commvault. There are still some hoops that you got to jump through in order to send Veeam backups out to public cloud repositories. It is not as simple as it is with other products."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by making the monitoring system free. If I would like to have any monitoring system by Veeam I have to purchase it. It should come free with the solution. They should provide a monitoring system to make the work easier and smooth."
"In the next release, I would like replication directly to the cloud to be included."
"The direct SAN backup integration can be perfected by improving the snapshot removal mechanism and process from the storage volumes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"While Nutanix Mine is extremely expensive for small businesses, it is a very cost-effective product for enterprise businesses."
"Nutanix Mine Integrated Backup is fairly priced."
"I rate the pricing a five out of ten because the price is average."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is affordable or low, and ten is expensive or high, I rate the price as two."
"The licenses are code-based or server-based for Veeam ONE. The last version is 12, and it is host-based, I don't like to move to a code-based solution."
"If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
"The product is expensive for small businesses."
"Customers require a perpetual license for the product. However, along with the license, they must also subscribe to the support service for one year or three years under a separate contract."
"The price of the solution could improve when comparing it to competitors. The market is very competitive and they should have some discounts or special offers."
"My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point."
"I consider that the product's price falls under the middle range category."
"The tool is reasonably priced for the quality it provides."
