Decades of use have delivered secure, customizable control for public sector operations and finance
I have just completed three assessments: one on inventory demand planning, another on using artificial intelligence to bring supplier contracts in portable document format directly into PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft works both internally as well as with third-party products that integrate seamlessly with PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft operates both from a need-to-know-only basis as well as being able at the same time to do group purchase and realize large quantity purchase discounts. My clients have used marketplaces, and it is really industry-specific whether they use one or not, or if there is even one available. I would rate this product nine out of ten.

A customizable, end-to-end solution for Performance Management, Learning, and Succession Planning
* There should be a feature for succession managers to add employee-specific comments so that it is visible only to the manager. * Not sure how this can be made easier, but the development of interface from the core HR system to this system is a tedious and time-consuming process, involving multiple iterations of modifications and testing. * Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of the solution is its stability."
"I often say that PeopleSoft's greatest feature is how customizable it is."
"The solution allows us to explore the databases and enables people to properly develop their work."
"Our end process is going through multiple procure-to-pay systems, so the most valuable feature of PeopleSoft is the collaboration that it provides between our procurement/purchasing and accounts payable."
"The breadcrumb approach to navigation in PeopleSoft is good. nVision is also a good supplement."
"The most valuable feature is that it's wide and broad and it does about everything anybody needs in a major organization from a back-office systems point of view."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"A solid and mature product."
"System usability has improved to a large extent and our manual effort has been reduced."

Cons

"The Work Center feature in PeopleSoft is a step in the right direction in consolidating someone's role-based interaction with the system. This enhanced functionality streamlines workflows and improves efficiency."
"The bugs are always in the latest release, so I always tell my client to be one release behind, let somebody else find all those bugs, and their response time in fixing those bugs sometimes takes a little while."
"An area for improvement would be PeopleSoft's global payroll capabilities, which could be easier to use."
"It would be nice if it became even more declarative in its development."
"There could be more adaptability of the system."
"In my opinion, it needs more performance, maybe something technical related, because it's very slow for us and even small activities take a while."
"The solution could improve by offering PeopleSoft site licenses. Currently, Oracle is pushing for everyone to transition to the cloud, but clients are discontent with this approach. Offering new PeopleSoft site licenses would be the most beneficial for our clients."
"Technical support is not very good and needs improvement in the area of speed in responding to issues."
"Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution offers annual licensing. We pay per user."
"I would consider this to be an expensive product, but the quality justifies it."
"One of the cheapest solutions available and also one of the best."
"The main issue we have with the solution is that it is very expensive."
"The product's cost depends on the number of people in your company or the number of paychecks processed. They charge based on these factors, plus a maintenance fee. I'm not sure about current pricing since Oracle took over."
"I don't know if they are still providing licenses or if they have suspending licenses."
"We are a University and the cost and license are negotiated privately."
"The solution is priced per module."
"Licensing is quite flexible, but please ensure that you have the right team negotiating with them."

What is your experience regarding pricing and costs for PeopleSoft?
The pricing is customer-specific, so I am not generally privy to what the pricing for licensing is. However, generally, I think PeopleSoft is certainly cheaper than cloud solutions.
