HR has gained clear analytics for attrition, goals, and appraisals and manages talent efficiently
SAP SuccessFactors has a low error rate. We had many ad hoc reports that we needed to generate, and it was very easy to do so in SAP SuccessFactors. We also created many in-house reports according to our specific requirements with the help of this tool, which was a really big game changer for us. We did not depend on advanced Excel in those cases. We generated a lot of detailed reports whenever we needed them during emergency cases or board meetings. A lot of usefulness and time were saved in those cases. I will also mention that we conducted a comparative study for some recruitment cases. We had a recruitment model where we were looking for a very niche profile. Since the job profile was really different and rare, we had to depend on analytics to understand and shortlist from a large pool of candidates that we already had in our database. Analytics was really helpful in this situation.

A customizable, end-to-end solution for Performance Management, Learning, and Succession Planning
* There should be a feature for succession managers to add employee-specific comments so that it is visible only to the manager. * Not sure how this can be made easier, but the development of interface from the core HR system to this system is a tedious and time-consuming process, involving multiple iterations of modifications and testing. * Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"As for the product itself, I like its flexibility and configurability."
"We can design a quick and dirty solution or very complex services, we can manage small enterprise projects (in our experience 150 users) as the big organization (in our experience 40000 users), all with the same solution, and this is a big saving of time, costs, and team usage optimization."
"They are the easiest to use without additional instructions."
"The tool has a unique talent management platform."
"It's brought to our organization a big big improvement. We would give it a good rating."
"The standardized procedures and best practices embedded in the system are very valuable."
"It has a global database, and it is globally accessible with the integration with the management."
"It is a very stable solution."
"System usability has improved to a large extent and our manual effort has been reduced."

Cons

"User-friendliness is a major concern for me, which affects my overall experience."
"The analytics capabilities are not very in-depth. While you can get reports, there are limitations when retrieving specific data such as questions from SCORM 1.2 or 2004; the system can only retrieve answers but not questions."
"The single problem that needs to be solved is that once you submit a form it cannot be edited."
"The solution needs more localization, especially for the Middle East and Russia."
"SAP SuccessFactors functionality doesn't meet the expectation of our end users. There are other solutions that have better functionality, such as Workday, which is one of the top applications. Additionally, the solution could be easier to use."
"The complete integration process between SuccessFactors modules is not at the level that all customers expect when it comes to complete HR user experience from all angles."
"The reporting tool is not as good as IBM Cognos which is very, very powerful."
"The SAP SuccessFactors integration with old versions can improve. We are using an older finance module but we are having migration issues."
"Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think the pricing is a little better than most solutions out there. There are reasonable prices when it comes to some of the modules such as the Payroll module, and for the remaining modules I believe the pricing is fair in comparison to the rest of the market."
"It could be cheaper."
"It is not cheap, but it is reasonable."
"This is a more costly solution than comparable products, and training is not available in the open-market, so this has to be purchased separately from the vendor."
"The price of the solution depends on too many factors to provide an estimate. However, the price of SAP SuccessFactors is competitive."
"Probably, it is one of the priciest products, and is very costly to put up and maintain but because it is a good solution end to end, people take it."
"If you go by best practices and do it right from the outset, the setup won't be a costly endeavor. In terms of setup, there is a lot of flexibility compared to three years ago."
"It is not expensive because it is a complete suite with a module-based cost."
"Licensing is quite flexible, but please ensure that you have the right team negotiating with them."

I see them less in recent new contracts for larger organisations, which are typically won by the other ones mentioned in Q2. From what I have seen from Sumtotal, it is a fine LMS but may be a bit old fashioned with less appealing learning experience. Other attention points are availability of experienced consultancy services in your area and the integration with other modules in the Talent suite, as some of these have been acquired, so integration may be an issue.
