A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

Provides reliable performance with strong features and simplicity
SonicWall TZ is user-friendly, admin-friendly, and a beautiful product. I have been selling SonicWall since 2007 without any issues. SonicWall has been working on it excellently. They are up to date, and their research team is good, making the box feature-rich. Based out of India, I have had some issues with their faulty channel policy. It's a very good product, an awesome product for those who want to use SonicWall TZ. You can bet on it, but check out the channel policies in India. They should check out the channels in the channel business. It's just a precaution, nothing more than that. Overall rating: 9 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Generally, every aspect of it being a next-generation firewall provides good value."
"It's very similar to a Cisco firewall, yet less expensive."
"The response is very quick and they can visually resolve our problems in a short period."
"The IPsec tunnels are very easily created, and quite interoperable with devices from other vendors."
"The product is easy to use and is stable. The SV1 functionality is a benefit."
"The system is very easy to scale."
"Customers are more inclined towards FortiGate because of application control, web filtering, and anti-spam features. The support from the FortiGate team is good, and price-wise, it is affordable."
"The security for endpoints is the most valuable. It is very secure for our workers. It allows us to secure a transaction and enable security for a specific segment in the workflow."
"In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable."
"We can utilize our own network rather than paying for a private one."
"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."
"Sangfor is a good solution that provides a WAF and firewall solution. Most other vendors, like Sophos and Fortinet and Cisco, only provide one solution. That's a valuable feature of Sangfor."
"The price versus value is good because the solution is less expensive than Sophos, Fortinet, or SonicWall."
"It offers application control features."
"Sangfor NGAF's standout feature is its powerful application control, enabling precise restrictions on mobile user access to approved applications."
"Particularly good in the DPI where we can inspect inbound and outbound traffic."
"The technical support is prompt, often resolving issues quickly through remote sessions."
"The VPN is quite useful for us, as well as the ATP."
"One valuable feature of SonicWall TZ is the content filtering."
"It is a scalable solution."
"The most valuable features have been content filtering, and the interface is easy to navigate and to use."
"Ease of management and the VPN integration."
"SonicWall TZ think it's a good, solid, and stable product."
"The feature we found most valuable in SonicWall TZ is that it is user-friendly for an administrator."

Cons

"Deploying FortiGate is hard."
"FortiGate IPS is somewhat pricey compared to other solutions. There is also room for improvement in terms of the radio signals. The FortiGate WiFi has a relatively short range. I've found there is a lag in its zero-day malware response that could be better, and FortiGate could integrate better with other brands of equipment or identity management solutions."
"The management consoles can be improved."
"Fortinet can add some Machine Learning and AI to improve its accuracy and give it an edge on IPS detection and protection."
"Scalability for Fortinet FortiGate needs to be improved. SD-WAN security for this solution also needs some improvement."
"There's room for improvement in the interface, especially following their upgrade to version nineteen."
"In an incident, after a restart, Fortinet FortiGate did not connect to FortiGuard servers. Due to that reason, on the customer end, all websites got blocked."
"I would suggest that Fortinet add sandboxing to their solution."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here. There should be improvements in hardware scalability, allowing for more storage and memory capacity."
"An area of improvement for Sangfor NGAF could be in the field of reporting and logging."
"The firewall system needs gradual improvements because there are more threats and challenges every day."
"Sangfor NGAF could improve by refining its application control policies, especially in addressing challenges with certain types of applications."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"Scalability for any network device is not very easy in terms of vertical scalability."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here."
"There is room for improvement in dependency on certain infrastructure, like the DNS dependency on the current DNS server that the company has. It should be standalone. It should not depend on any other DNS server."
"I would like to see a SonicWall integration with the DLP tool, this would be interesting. Data Loss Prevention integration."
"It could be made more user friendly."
"In an upcoming release, SonicWall could improve by adding cloud management for all devices for free or at a nominal cost. Currently, they have a cloud management platform but is not free. We have the MySonicWall portal for purchasing from them for software updates and renewals."
"Getting support can be slow."
"The solution's antivirus checking could be improved so that we can have a deeper inspection of the packets."
"I would like to see lower antivirus pricing."
"The areas we would like to see improvement include more features available similar to the equivalent FortiGate appliance, e.g. SSL encryption and inspection. Two-factor authentication capability would be another additional feature that could be included in the next release."
"We have experienced some issues with SonicWall TZ and they are lacking some advanced features other vendors have."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If we have an older version, the support costs get quite high."
"Fortinet is reasonable in pricing and licensing. Overall, FortiGate is affordable. The licensing fee can be a little high, depending on the budget for your project."
"Work through partners for the best pricing."
"The price is relatively expensive compared to other solutions which are providing similar features."
"The product pricing is reasonable."
"On a scale of one being cheap and ten being expensive, I rate the tool's price as an eight."
"We pay for the solution annually."
"A year or two years back, its price was competitive and reasonable. That was one of the reasons that people easily switched to Fortinet. Over the last two years, the prices have increased drastically. However, the prices of others have also increased. An advantage is there from the price point but not as much as it was previously."
"For over 2000 users, the cost is around 5000 to 6000 USD. If you want a web application firewall, you have to purchase an additional license for it."
"The price is unmatcheable."
"Price-wise, I would not consider Sangfor NGAF to be a cheap product. It is an expensive firewall solution, though not as expensive as something like Palo Alto, which is costly. However, the higher price point is justifiable given the feature set the tool provides that other firewalls may not offer in a single dedicated appliance."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"It is one of the cheapest tools in the market."
"The product is very cost-effective compared to other brands or vendors."
"In my opinion, the price of the tool is good in the Pakistani market. We can easily get discounts if needed."
"The price is high compared to some other solutions."
"It has a yearly subscription."
"Licensing fees are on a monthly basis."
"It is a bit expensive. We have to purchase the license and the reporting part separately, which makes it a bit pricey. This is the main reason why we have thought of moving to another firewall. It would be good if they combine both of these."
"Licensing costs have been around $2,000. There are no other costs above the standard licensing fees."
"The license that we purchased is good for three years."
"The price is fair for the solution for the quality you receive."
"I give the price an eight out of ten."
