Relying on dependable communication features for efficient collaboration
I work with Microsoft Exchange. We use Microsoft Azure, though I am not involved with the back-end operations. I work with Microsoft Exchange and ServiceNow for the service desk. I do not work with Cloud Observability or Automation Engine. We use Microsoft Copilot with Teams. We do not use Microsoft Security Copilot as it is not cloud-based. We have moved from Skype for Business to Teams recently, though some of us still use Skype for Business because it is convenient. Skype for Business is particularly useful for remoting onto people's devices. I prefer Skype for Business over Teams for screen sharing. Sometimes there are compatibility issues when running Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business together. Phone calls in Teams might ring and then go silent, or the microphone might not detect calls from either application. I rate Skype for Business a 9 out of 10 because it works effectively with minimal issues.

Is excellent for video conferencing, with a very high usage rate
There are a few technical aspects that might need assistance, such as enabling Vidyo inside a web browser as opposed to using it via an SDK in an app. Occasionally, issues can arise when using video conferencing in third-party applications. Feedback from developers could be beneficial for improving these areas.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The calling features are most valuable, especially now as we are working remotely."
"It's a good and stable product that fits my needs."
"You can do meetings of up to two hundred people in a single conversation."
"It's a good product, we like using it."
"The solution is easy to use and includes the ability to text message, video and voice chat, and transfer files."
"I have found Skype for Business to be stable."
"The integration with Microsoft Outlook for creating and scheduling meetings is nice."
"File sharing and email invitations for a conference. I can have a meeting with people at the opposite end of the Earth, sharing documentation; it is quite easy."
"Vidyo is excellent for video conferencing, with a very high usage rate alongside Epic Solutions."

Cons

"I don't recall coming across any big missing features."
"Make it user friendly."
"It would be ideal if the solution could make instant messages more permanent. Currently, if you close the conversation, you lose the instant messages that you shared during the meeting. If those could last beyond the meeting, that would be a great addition, due to the fact that frequently, people give each other key details, important information, or email addresses, etc., during the meeting. If you don't write it down during the meeting, after the meeting closes, it's gone forever. That can be quite frustrating."
"The solution isn't connected to Microsoft Teams, and I feel like there is better communication on that particular solution. The group capabilities are a bit less than Teams."
"I am not familiar with all of the features or whether they can hold conferences because we use Zoom for that. But, in my opinion, if they can do something similar to what Zoom is doing, it will be a complete solution."
"Sometimes Skype is slow, and we cannot use other elements of our devices while using the Skype solution."
"We overcame the audio quality issues by asking users to use the 'Call Me' feature with their desk phone."
"The group feature of Skype for Business needs improvement. It should also be improved for online lectures."
"There are a few technical aspects that might need assistance, such as enabling Vidyo inside a web browser as opposed to using it via an SDK in an app."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have been able to save money by moving our conferencing solution to Skype for Business Conferencing."
"We purchased an open license."
"Previously, I did not use another solution."
"The cost of Skype for Business is incorporated into our Office 365 licenses."
"I am using a corporate account for which I have not made any payments."
"Skype for Business' pricing is reasonable."
"Our company pays for a license for us to use the solution."
"The pricing is really good. It is quite affordable because it came with our Office 365. It is on a per-user license, which is nice. I quite like that they have made it very granular with all of their licensing."
