Secure management of sensitive servers and seamless applications with direct linking
The credential injection feature is highly valued, particularly for RDP sessions. A majority of customers use it for RDP, and a couple for Linux servers. The broader capabilities, including access to multiple systems, web-based applications, and clustering, have never posed an issue. The threat analytics aspect is also a robust feature that analyzes all pertinent information.

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution really makes a big difference."
"CA PAM is working well for us."
"It is the best product for monitoring the recorded session of your IT admins and external consultants."
"Comprehensive coverage of the required features for the PAM solution."
"If I remember correctly, it was the two factor authentication, and the single most important capability was it supported PIV and CAC as one of the two factors."
"We can enforce complicated password policies and very important frequent password changes."
"When we started analyzing different products, CA was really good."
"For me, it is the robust API which is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature is policy-driven control of the devices."
"The solution can scale."
"The solution scalability is very good, and we have clients mostly in medium to large-scale enterprises, with some large customers having approximately 1,300 devices using the solution."
"It has good stability."
"It has improved the way our organization functions; it provides security, and if an employee loses his or her phone or someone steals it, the data on the phone itself is secured because you can just centrally disable everything, so you only lose the device but not the data."
"Generally, I am satisfied with VMware because they have been quite responsive in terms of the kind of challenges that we have in the Central African region."
"The solution is good for providing dedicated resources for dedicated users."
"Imagine that your business apps on your mobile device, for instance, no longer require you to type in your username, password, or second factor of authentication—as long as you're handling a managed and trustworthy device, you can seamlessly log in to applications."

Cons

"Technical support is average. They took a long time to provide good answers, only recommended to upgrade SW version which in some environments is not an option and they don’t even know if that will fix the problem."
"The support for other remote assistance tools would be excellent. Free included tools in Windows (Remote Assist) and Microsoft SCCM Configuration Manager (ConMgr Remote Control) allow companies to reduce the amount of RDP connections and expand the usage of the tools are frequently used by companies to provide technical support for remote assistance."
"What I hope happens with the new product CA PAM is to keep all the useful features that exist in PA, but what I’ve noticed with many new products is the UI gets polished but systems lags stability and performance or it adds additional complexity instead of simplifying the user experience."
"Now, the reporting feature on CA PAM only shows the basic information in white-black table format."
"We have to do a lot of manual work to automate features."
"We experience stability issues after every patch upgrade. This is a place where CA needs to improve drastically."
"The demonstration and consideration portion does not work the best. It's not that intuitive."
"When there are new patches or upgrades, they need to test the new release well so it will not break the functional parts."
"It's a costly product. It would help if they could offer it at a discount."
"For the purpose that this solution is designed for it works great, but it doesn't compare well with other solutions."
"I think the product could be improved by making it more independent; for now, it's very dependent on an active directory so that you could basically tie into us for A, B or some other IDP that they provide."
"VMware Workspace ONE is expensive."
"Customer Service: With Enterprise Service agreement it is a 5/10. Without Enterprise Service agreement it is a 3/10."
"Our customers are concerned about the costs. The solution is higher than they want it to be."
"We have faced some issues with the stability of this solution. It is not as stable on mobile devices as Jamf Pro and Mac devices."
"VMware should develop an integrated platform for their security products to give a singular integrated and holistic view of the devices covered by different security products whether Workspace One or Carbon Black."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Appliances are relatively cheap, don’t skimp. Make sure you have redundancy, high availability, and enough appliances to manage the concurrent workload."
"It is more expensive than other solutions on the market."
"The prices are not low, but one can ask for a discount. It’s not the cheapest PAM solution."
"They offer per-device, per-user, or monthly and yearly licensing models."
"I would prefer better licensing options for the 20-100 users we have at a given time."
"Don’t go with an agent model. Don’t go with a model that has you buying a thousand different parts. Go with PAM that gives you everything, or you’ll just be paying costs of implementing another tool that PAM would have just given you up front."
"It is reasonably priced."
"Cost-wise, CA was better compared to others in the market. "
"The tool is expensive."
"I think the pricing of the product needs advisement. It would be great to bundle the VM products together. I think the actual box itself should be included in the license. At present, it is not paired with the mobile device."
"The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable."
"VMware Workspace ONE licensing price is good with their supportability. The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable. We are using an enterprise license."
"VMware Workspace ONE can fit any organization because if you need more devices there are only additional fees."
"All licenses from VMware are only yearly. They start with a yearly license and look for a three-year commitment and yearly PO."
"We pay approximately thirty to thirty-five euros per device per month for the complete suite, and this is a fixed cost with one, three, or five-year licensing in advance. I would rate the pricing a four out of ten, making it affordable."
"The price of the solution is costly for the number of users I am using it for."
