Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"The solution is very stable."
"We are saving a lot of money on costs right now since we have implemented the solution and we are using the community version."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore, and this solution is also easy to use."
"This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows."
"Veeam makes modular solutions, so you can install Veeam Backup for Office 365 and Veeam Backup and Replication in one single server. You can do an all in one installation, and roll it out."
"The customer service and support team are good."
"I appreciate that Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 allows me to back up on both local storage and cloud storage, providing two options for data restoration."
"We are able to store it on various cloud providers such as Amazon S3, Rocket, Azure, and IBM Cloud. It can also do on-premise integration, and we are able to use storage from on-premise. We are also able to recover data. It is a really good and intuitive solution. Veeam has developed a fantastic product. I've never seen anything that I don't like about Veeam. It looks like a very complete solution. It is really mature, simple to use, and quite interrogative. It also has APIs for writing scripts."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is its performance. Additionally, the user interface and documentation are easy to use and navigate."
"The most valuable feature is the built-in integration with Office 365, which helps us protect email accounts and servers. We use it on virtual servers on the cloud with Azure, or we can use an agent on physical servers."
"The feature that I like the most is the system backup recovery from OneDrive."
"Its absolute functionality and intuitiveness are the most valuable features."

Cons

"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"The backups can go slow."
"Interface could possibly be improved."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"Some users might think the interface could be improved."
"If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do."
"Troubleshooting is very hard."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"Currently, I'm working for Huawei and they dropped the support for Huawei, so that's an issue for us."
"Pricing is an area for improvement, and I would rate it at five out of ten."
"In some instances, a customer is not necessarily backing up Microsoft 365. For instance, they might be backing up a large Oracle database. It would be nice if they could tweak it to compress the file, so it's easier to transfer a huge file."
"The solution should provide more integration with Teams and SharePoint Online to perform other tasks."
"They could include WAN acceleration to compress the traffic to make things faster."
"Veeam has a lot of costs that are not clear when you start it, which makes it less flexible than Altaro, but only after half a year, you can be really sure that you made a good decision."
"It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good."
"The integration and the coverage of all the features related to the protection of Teams could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"There is a license required for this solution and we pay annually."
"The pricing is middle-of-the-road compared with competing products."
"The cost is a bit on the high side."
"For the number of users and amount of storage you receive, it is not expensive."
"We have 2000 users and pay about $10,000. It may be a little bit more per year. We have an education institute and may have fewer expenses."
"The solution is very, very, very, cheap."
"It is strictly subscribed on a per-user basis."
"This is not a stand-alone product and requires a standard Veeam license for your organization in addition to the cost of the solution."
