What is our primary use case?
Fujitsu has been involved in developing storage solutions for a significant period. Fujitsu provides both SAN and NAS storage solutions within its portfolio. They also incorporate NetApp Storage solutions as they do not have True Unified Storage solutions in their portfolio. Fujitsu’s Storage solutions are highly cost-effective options compared to other market players.
The primary uses-case of Fujitsu Storage that I will recommend is where you need top-class product reliability with a competitive price.
How has it helped my organization?
As we are a FTS (Fujitsu Technology Solutions) reseller; we have experienced positive feedback from our customers using the Fujitsu products we sold to them. We will strongly recommend others buy Fujitsu storage solutions to get the core benefit of these products. FTS offers very cost-effective solutions with far better reliability than others. Furthermore, they have full solutions for almost all customer's use cases. The customers can reduce their purchase cycle and cut down TCO with far better ROI.
What is most valuable?
Fujitsu offers competitive pricing. Fujitsu’s features are almost similar to other solutions. There is no standalone storage feature that is unique to Fujitsu. However, Fujitsu offers a cost-effective solution with better reliability. Fujitsu is a renowned brand with a strong reputation for providing SAN storage; also providing NVMe storage with extreme performance and unmatched reliability.
This is also true for their other products, Servers, Server-workstations, Desktops, Graphical Desktops, etc. The mean time between failures (MTBF) is very high in almost all Fujitsu Products to get top-class product reliability.
(The Mean time between failures (MTBF) describes the expected time between two failures for a repairable system.)
What needs improvement?
Some feature needs improvement. NetApp offers many features, while Fujitsu lacks a unified platform. Fujitsu does have all the NetApp storage solutions in their portfolio. While Fujitsu claims to have a unified system in its documentation, it is not truly unified. If a customer is planning to buy Unified NAS storage, then I will recommend NetApp.
There is no unified NAS options in Fujitsu; they have a NAS&SAN option in their storage portfolio but the customer has to make that choice before buying it.
For how long have I used the solution?
We are a Fujitsu partner and have been selling the solution to our customers since 2009.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Theses storage systems are highly stable and reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Fujitsu's storage can be configured for small to large organizations, so the solution's scalability is not an issue.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support changes from country to country. It also depends on the availability within the country.
The overall support response time is very good.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Not exactly, most customers using Fujitsu Storage either upgrade it or in some cases tech-refresh.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward and simpler than others.
What about the implementation team?
We deployed the solutions as a Fujitsu partner.
What was our ROI?
It depends on the solution; the better ROI can be achieved.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's very simple to deploy. Add-on licensing of deduplication, and remote replication are on the expensive side. Most other vendors offer almost the same.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
The solution was made considering the customer's requirements, Fujitsu storage solutions are offered/sold by us to our customers who need a product that never fails, keeps running all the time, and fits in their budget too.
What other advice do I have?
The NVMe storage solutions are extremely powerful and efficient but are expensive. These solutions are suited for artificial intelligence, large-scale government organizations, or enterprise service providers catering to millions of users. The NVMe storage solution depends on the specific customer’s requirements, use case, and challenges. If the business demands align with the capabilities of the NVMe storage, then Fujitsu's solution would be a better and cost-effective choice in the SAN environment.
However, for NAS and SAN(Unified) storage requirements, NetApp would be the best with unmatched performance.
In unified storage, my preference leans towards NetApp, owing to its distinct advantages over other solutions in the market.
