Reasonably pried and pretty secure but we'd like the storage to be increased
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution scales well."
  • "The scalability is awesome, we don't have to do the heavy lifting of maintaining the infrastructure or anything, as everything is bundled up by Google."
  • "We'd like the storage to be increased."
  • "We'd like the storage to be increased."

What is our primary use case?

We've been using it for a couple of school projects here. We have implemented it for a lot of schools with Google as our infrastructure. They're using Firebase for their data.

What is most valuable?

It's a nice product overall.

The solution scales well.

There's no installation process to contend with.

It is stable.

The pricing overall is very reasonable.

It has been secure overall.

What needs improvement?

Overall, I'm happy with it. It's not missing any features.

We'd like the storage to be increased.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for the last couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is quite good. There are no issues with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is awesome. We don't have to do the heavy lifting of maintaining the infrastructure, or anything, as everything is bundled up by Google. We just have to apply a code, and then we have to run it.

We have about 1,000 users on the product right now and plan to increase usage in the future.

How are customer service and support?

Support has been good overall. We have been satisfied with their level of assistance.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We're using Google and Google-related products, including Kubernetes. Those are the current products here.

We were previously using other clouds for other purposes, however, in our latest project, Google Cloud met all of our needs.

How was the initial setup?

There is no installation to speak of as the product is in the cloud.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for the service yearly.

We find it to be cheaper than the competitors. They have a pay-as-you-go model.

What other advice do I have?

I'd recommend the solution to others.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Reliable and provides easy access but needs to improve analytics for the client
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is scalable."
  • "I like it due to the fact that it can be accessed from everywhere and it can be used for every kind of solution you need."
  • "The analytics that they have are very focused. It serves Google and not really the client."
  • "The analytics that they have are very focused. It serves Google and not really the client."

What is our primary use case?

We're using the solution for multiple purposes.

How has it helped my organization?

It's accessible from everywhere. It can be used for many purposes.

What is most valuable?

I like it due to the fact that it can be accessed from everywhere and it can be used for every kind of solution you need. I enjoy the freedom and access it allows for.

The solution is scalable.

It is stable and reliable.

What needs improvement?

The cost could be lowered.

The analytics could be improved. The analytics that they have are very focused. It serves Google and not really the client. There needs to be some kind of ratio between the purpose of the service, how much of this service is for the client and how much is for the provider. Google is getting more value from the analytics services than the client.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for many years now. It's likely been five to six years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable and reliable with good performance on offer. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

You can scale the solution quite easily. It's not a problem at all.

We have more than 4,000 users on the solution.

We do not plan to increase usage at this time.

How are customer service and support?

We are internally supporting the product. We do not need any outside technical support. I've never reached out to Google's technical support services.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We've used Microsoft and IBM solutions in the past. This was before we began using Google Cloud.

We are using Google due to the fact that it's completely different. The purpose of Google Cloud is different, and the access to it is different. We are using it for wider services than for any kind of specific purpose or any kind of business focus.

How was the initial setup?

We are using the cloud. There is no installation process required before you start using it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In terms of the licensing, I'd rate the solution five out of ten. It could always be cheaper.

What other advice do I have?

I'd recommend the solution to others. I'm a user myself. It's also very popular as an option in my country.

I'd rate the solution five out of ten.

Offers free storage, stability and reliable product
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it is free. It's easy to use, and it's reliable."
  • "The Notes application could be better."

What is our primary use case?

It's mostly for storage of personal documents, some photos, and emails.

How has it helped my organization?

It's purely for personal use.

What is most valuable?

I like that it is free. It's easy to use, and it's reliable.

What needs improvement?

The Notes application could be better. Some of the email portal features can be tricky, but my mom uses it just fine, so it's probably intuitive enough.

And some of the email portal features. My mom sometimes has trouble with them, but she's not very tech-savvy, so that's understandable. The fact that she can use it at all shows that it's pretty user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using Google around 2012. I've been using the cloud version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've never had a problem with stability so I would rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have a free business account, and my family uses it as well. It's easy to use, it works, and it is free, and we all have our own domain email addresses. It's absolutely awesome.

I'm good with the free Google account I have. It allows ten users, but I only need four or five, so it's plenty for now.

If we ever need more storage or users, it's easy to upgrade by paying a small monthly fee. It is really simple.

How are customer service and support?

Never needed it. It's always just worked perfectly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Google Cloud was the first one I signed up for. It's always worked, it's always been free, and I haven't had a reason to look elsewhere. I don't see a need to at this point.

How was the initial setup?

I've been using it for so long; it just always worked. There was no setup; it just worked.

What was our ROI?

I can stay connected with others. I have free email, free storage, free notes, and free Google apps, and I use it in conjunction with the free Linux operating system on my computer.

I don't need to pay for licensing for anything.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't pay for the license. For me, it's completely free.

What other advice do I have?

Just try it out. If you like it, stick with it. If not, then look around for something else. But in my experience, if you find something that works, don't overthink it. Just use it.

It's been a great service for my needs. Overall, I would rate the product an eight out of ten because there is room for improvement.

Easy to use with good performance and a simple setup
Pros and Cons
  • "It is very easy to share documents."
  • "They could always offer even more storage at the base level."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use it for personal use. I mostly use it to access Google Drive. I use it for saving photos and sharing documents.

What is most valuable?

It is very easy to share documents.

It's very good for personal use for saving my own documents and files.

The performance is very good.

It is pretty good in terms of storage.

It is fairly secure.

What needs improvement?

I don't have any notes for improvements. I don't use it too often.

They could always offer even more storage at the base level.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Google Cloud for 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. I'd rate its reliability ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. I'd rate the ability to extend ten out of ten.

I'm not sure who else uses it in my company.

How are customer service and support?

I've never contacted technical support. I've never had any issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also use Microsoft for personal use.

I've previously used Dropbox as well.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use a free version. You can also pay for a subscription from Google Cloud as well.

What other advice do I have?

Since this is a cloud product, I am always on the latest version of the product.

I'd recommend the solution to other potential users. It is easy to set up. You can choose to have a personal friend and gain access to your documents from anywhere.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

Reliable, not too expensive and able to extend
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is pretty stable."
  • "It is complex to set up."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for extended storage or for data. It's a platform that we use for storing documents and migrating proposals. If you want to move a document from one database or person to another, you can use data as a place to hold it and keep it secure.

What is most valuable?

I like the Drive. It's easy to use.

It is scalable.

The solution is pretty stable.

The product isn't too expensive.

What needs improvement?

The subscription is expensive, and the data on offer can be too small. If you don't have the right size, it will delete what is over the allowed amount. If you go over your allotment, they want you to extend it, and you need to keep paying extra. Otherwise, you lose access to stuff that is over the storage limit.

It is complex to set up.

We'd like Google to add more storage to the license the longer you use it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for a while. I've used it since my college days.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable as long as you have the right subscription. Every month, you need to make sure you have enough storage.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable for my needs. You do have to pay more to scale. However, it's mostly affordable to do so.

I'm the only user. I use it for my own personal purposes.

How are customer service and support?

I've never used technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used Microsoft previously as well.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not exactly straightforward. It's a bit complex.

You have to be careful you are ensuring enough storage is there or being added. If you don't take a proper subscription, data will be removed.

What about the implementation team?

I can do the deployment by myself.

What was our ROI?

I've not looked into ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You do need to take a subscription. If you do not, your data can be deleted. You need to keep buying more and more storage as you grow. The licensing is paid by myself monthly.

It's not too expensive. I'd rate it eight out of ten in terms of affordability. The price isn't the factor. The storage is the issue. They need to have more storage available and constantly added.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user.

I am using the latest version of the solution.

I'd recommend the solution to other users. I've recommended it to my colleagues. It's a good way to distribute data.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

The platform performs well, and the autoscaling is useful, but I would like to see code generation features
Pros and Cons
  • "Google Cloud performs well."
  • "I would like to see more code generation features that enable you to take user input in simple English and automatically convert it to code."

What is our primary use case?

We used Google Cloud for to host our automation platform.

What is most valuable?

Google Cloud performs well.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see more code generation features that enable you to take user input in simple English and automatically convert it to code.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Cloud for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Google Cloud eight out of 10 for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate Google Cloud eight out of 10 for scalability.

How was the initial setup?

The IT team centrally manages the deployment and gives us access to the instance that hosts the automated platform.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Google Cloud seven out of 10. It increases the efficiency of any user to have a solid technology platform. You get the advantage of auto-scaling and upgrades to the latest technology.

Plenty of features, straightforward installation, and user-friendly
Pros and Cons
  • "My customers appreciate all the features that Google Cloud has to offer. They are looking for solutions for computing engines, storage, web hosting, and various other needs. The most useful feature depends on their specific requirements and how they plan to utilize Google Cloud. Each customer has their own unique set of needs and the Google Cloud provides a range of options to meet those needs."
  • "Google Cloud could improve interoperability with other cloud services."

What is our primary use case?

Our aim is to provide comprehensive solutions to our valued customers. Whether it be to fulfill their specific requests or to help them attain their desired outcomes, we utilize the cutting-edge technology available in Google Cloud. This allows us to effectively cater to our client's needs while also providing a mutually beneficial experience.

What is most valuable?

My customers appreciate all the features that Google Cloud has to offer. They are looking for solutions for computing engines, storage, web hosting, and various other needs. The most useful feature depends on their specific requirements and how they plan to utilize Google Cloud. Each customer has their own unique set of needs and the Google Cloud provides a range of options to meet those needs.

What needs improvement?

Google Cloud could improve interoperability with other cloud services.

Our objective was to attain a convenient and straightforward configuration process not only in Google Cloud but in other widely utilized cloud services. Regardless of the cloud service you are currently utilizing or intend to connect to, we desire for the process to be seamless and effortlessly attainable with only quick action. It is our hope that all cloud services possess this level of interoperability with one another.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Cloud for approximately five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Google Cloud is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Google Cloud is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used the support from Google Cloud.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS prior to using Google Cloud. I prefer Google Cloud. The interface is designed in a way that is easy to understand, even for those with limited technical knowledge. One can effortlessly acquire the necessary knowledge through online resources, allowing for self-sufficient learning.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the solution was easy. We only need to complete approximately four steps and we have a cloud instance. The process takes 10 seconds.

What other advice do I have?

There is not any specific maintenance required to be done with the solution.

My advice to others is for them to take all the advantages of the free tiers from each cloud solution vendor and then decide what they want to use.

I rate Google Cloud a nine out of ten.

Fair pricing and an easy setup with good online tutorials
Pros and Cons
  • "For us, the solution is very easy to use. We have the right skillsets for it."
  • "The documentation could be better."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for small applications. There are also a few web applications with Angular.

What is most valuable?

I'm very happy with Google Cloud. Everything works. For us, the solution is very easy to use. We have the right skillsets for it.

Users find it easy to work with it.

I don't need to create an API layer since it automatically creates it for me.

It offers a real-time database, so we get updates really fast.

The Firebase database is great.

The tutorials people can find online are good.

The solution offers fair pricing.

It's pretty stable.

The solution can scale well.

It offers a simple initial setup.

What needs improvement?

There is only one issue that I have and it is when you create an account, they limit the number of accounts you can create.

The documentation could be better.

The backup needs improvement. I would prefer to do a one-piece backup solution where I can schedule backups.

It's just too complicated to migrate from one Firebase database to another. It should have been easy.

I'd like to see something like an exchange server, a managed email server, where I can handle other clients. I'd like something similar to Microsoft Exchange yet something that is like a fully managed email service.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the solution maybe four years ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability has been great. I'd rate it ten out of ten. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. I've had no issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a very scalable solution. I'd rate its ability to expand at a ten out of ten.

We took a managed server, so it automatically scales. We've had a case where there were a thousand users streaming videos, and it all works fine.

We have 1200 users for one application. That said, we have a few applications and they all have varying amounts of users. It's likely around 1,000 users per app.

It's in our roadmap to increase usage.

How are customer service and support?

I have tried Google support. I did send emails and never got a response for some of them. Compared to AWS, AWS has the best technical support and Google's is weaker.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We're also using AWS.

For Angular apps and for real-time apps and for real-time apps, Google Cloud is much better. When it comes to cleaning lambdas and small APIs, AWS is better. And the only thing I would say AWS is better is technical support. The support is 24 hours, and they're always ready to help. Google is less expensive, however.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is straightforward to set up. I'd rate the ease of implementation nine out of ten. It's a cloud product. It's very easy.

Once you know what to do, the deployment is very quick and really easy. It's like one command line that you do to deploy. It only takes a minute.

We've got a repo. However, the deployments are done manually with just one command. They build locally and deploy manually.

Just one person managed the deployment process.

What about the implementation team?

Everything is implemented in-house. We did not need outside assistance. I was able to handle the deployment myself.

What was our ROI?

Something that used to take six months might now only take two weeks. That's quite a change and a pretty good ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'd rate the pricing ten out of ten. It is an affordable product.

The cost might be $10 a month per user, which is about $300 a month in total.

What other advice do I have?

We're a customer.

I'm using a few of the services. I'm using the latest version of the solution.

I'd advise new users to go through some tutorials. The documentation can be a bit hard to read. However, there are a lot of good tutorials out there.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
