Scalable solution with good technical support services
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution."
  • "Its integration with one of the third-party platforms could be better."

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature is BigQuery. We can train models for forecasting and predictions by just writing SQL queries with it. Also, GKE features work best, along with integrating Istio for monitoring purposes.

What needs improvement?

The solution's integration with Oracle could be better. We encounter issues while migrating the database from Oracle to another SQL server.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable and has automatic features for it. I rate its scalability a nine or ten.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support is good. We also contact other vendors trained in Google Cloud support in case of queries.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I rate the solution's initial setup process a seven out of ten. We need to understand its complete landscape for more straightforward implementation. Although, its deployment is faster and takes over a month to complete.

What about the implementation team?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution has OpEx and CapEx, pricing models. Thus, the cost depends on specific use cases.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Easy to set up and get started with
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a perfect tool for startups."
  • "When companies grow at a larger scale, they may shift to a different cloud services provider like AWS or Oracle."

What is our primary use case?

We use Google Cloud to deploy our servers on containerized token servers and store user databases, which mostly consist of 5S data. It is very useful for authentication, as most of our back-end operations are powered by Google.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the ease of use. Google Cloud has mastered the user interface and user experience so much that it is very convenient. The 5S is the best tool for startups to set up things quickly and powerfully. Apart from that, Google Cloud has a lot of features. We can deploy with really powerful servers, auto-scaling, and all. Yeah. That's it. I tried AWS, but it has too many features. So Google Cloud is simple to use to start with.

What needs improvement?

When the companies grow at a larger scale, I often see them shifting to a different cloud services provider, like Oracle or AWS, because they may have critical features or preferences over Google Cloud. While Google Cloud is expanding, there is still room for improvement in flexibility.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Cloud for more than a year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. For starters, it is very scalable, but when we use it for a month, we may have to look for a different setup on Google Cloud. But, yes, it is very scalable.

I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We are happy with the scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service is pretty supportive. We are also in the Google Startup Program and they have been very helpful. The support is amazing.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is super easy. I would rate it a ten out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

Google Cloud has amazing documentation. It took a few hours to deploy the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Some options might be cheaper for much larger scales, but at the scale, we are operating on, Google has very convenient pricing. I'd rate it a three out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I highly recommend using this solution. It's very easy to set up and get started with and is a perfect tool for startups. They have amazing support with their programs as well.

Overall, I would rate it a nine out of ten.

Useful auto-scaling, highly reliable, and straightforward setup
Pros and Cons
  • "Google Cloud's most valuable attribute is its capability for on-demand auto-scaling, and it also simplifies numerous intricate tasks for its users."
  • "The price of the solution could be more transparent."

What is our primary use case?

We are migrating some of our application workloads from an on-premise system to Google Cloud using Kubernetes.

What is most valuable?

Google Cloud's most valuable attribute is its capability for on-demand auto-scaling, and it also simplifies numerous intricate tasks for its users.

What needs improvement?

The price of the solution could be more transparent.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Google Cloud within the last 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Google Cloud a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability of Google Cloud a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used the support from Google Cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Google Cloud is straightforward. However, the migration of workload is complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We approached Google Cloud with certain cost assumptions but were surprised to find that our actual expenses were higher than expected. Initially, we had anticipated spending a set amount on the solution, but in reality, we ended up spending more than that. It would be helpful to have greater transparency and educational documentation on the cost-related aspects of Google Cloud.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others wanting to use this solution should have a migration strategy and there are other solutions on the market with similar features. User education is critical to be successful with the solution.

One of the challenges when it comes to Google Cloud is how to familiarize traditional Java developers, working database administrators, or data engineers with its offerings. The question is how to teach them to use it effectively and ensure that it functions properly. If the education is successful, Google Cloud can be a fantastic solution to work with.

I rate Google Cloud a nine out of ten.

User-friendly, easy to configure, and no downtime
Pros and Cons
  • "There is no downtime. It is very reliable."
  • "Integration is always something that can be improved."

What is our primary use case?

I was investigating a couple of machine learning files and I loaded them into the Google Cloud Platform.

I load and edit notebooks and add more resources to increase computational power. It satisfies the GPUs, basically.

I tend to use their standard configuration and focus on editing the notebooks. I do not use it in a production environment.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution meets my needs for the most part. Everything I need is there, and it has an interface I am familiar with.

What is most valuable?

There is no downtime. It is very reliable.

The UI is very familiar and user-friendly. I like ht interface.

The configurations are very easy.

Also, if you need to increase computational power, you can do so.

I find the system itself to be very convenient.

It is always easy to access.

It's stable and reliable.

The solution scales well.

What needs improvement?

The product is very good. I don't have any notes on areas for improvement.

Integration is always something that can be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution in the last 12 months. I use it very regularly.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is extremely stable. There are no bugs and glitches and there is no downtime. I find it to be extremely reliable. I've never experienced any kind of problems. I'd rate the stability nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm using the solution in the context of a small company, and I just use it on my laptop. Therefore, I've never pushed scalability to the maximum.

I'd rate the scalability nine out of ten. The level of scalability on offer is very high. It has a lot of computing power.

How are customer service and support?

I've never needed the help of technical support. I cannot comment on their level of service.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used other solutions in the past and was disappointed with how there was always something not working properly. Also, I did not like how I had to buy credits, which was time-consuming. I had to increase my credit in order to sustain an increase in computing power. Google Cloud is very reliable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. I'd rate it seven or eight out of ten in terms of ease of implementation. It's not overly complex.

It is available on the web. You simply go to Google's website and it is there and accessible.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user.

I am using the latest version of the solution.

I'd advise others to try it out. They can use it with confidence. I'd recommend it to others.

I would rate the product nine out of ten. It's reliable and scalable.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Google

Simple with a straightforwards setup but does not seem to provide virtualization
Pros and Cons
  • "Technical support has been good."
  • "I find it hard to download items, especially on their operating system."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for data. For example, we use it for email and Google Docs and sheets and content of that nature.

What is most valuable?

I find that Google Cloud is easier to understand than other options.

I like its product offering, which is simpler to figure out and automate.

The setup is straightforward.

It is scalable.

The solution is stable.

Technical support has been good.

What needs improvement?

I'm still confused by the usefulness of the cloud and I'm not sure why everyone is moving there. I don't trust the act of sending my company's information to whoever knows where instead of having it safe on my own servers.

I find it hard to download items, especially on their operating system.

The Google operating system leaves a lot to be desired.

It does not seem to provide any virtualization whatsoever.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cloud providers like Google are designed to be scalable. The issue is you are supposed to be bursting at the seams before you scale and that doesn't make much financial sense.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service is very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm also familiar with Azure. I've used Microsoft products for ten years or so, however, I find Google to be simpler.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was pretty straightforward and simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing is pretty good. However, all cloud products offer pretty close to the same pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I haven't used a lot of cloud products and haven't experimented too much with Google Cloud, beyond playing with Google Workspace.

From what I have experienced, I would rate it seven out of ten.

Improved our web apps so that we can have a canary deployment
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has improved our web apps so that we can have a canary deployment. GCP also helps us upload new features and changes to our software without impacting a lot of users with the network. The AI features have improved the software as well."
  • "The UI is beautiful but not easy to use, and also a little slow. Anything that you click is slow to load. It is also not easy to find something. I do not find the left-hand side menu good. We have a lot of options mixed there and we need the best way to deploy cloud resources. I prefer Azure ARM templates since their JSON files are easy to manipulate and integrate with other tools."

What is our primary use case?

We have an ERP platform in our organization to manage things. Such platforms work well in medium and small-sized companies but we have a lot of modules and hence use GCP as a platform to deploy our web. We will also incorporate AI features in the future to improve the software.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has improved our web apps so that we can have a canary deployment. GCP also helps us upload new features and changes to our software without impacting a lot of users with the network. The AI features have improved the software as well.

What is most valuable?

I have found the AI features, networking, and quality of Google products valuable.

What needs improvement?

The UI is beautiful but not easy to use, and also a little slow. Anything that you click is slow to load. It is also not easy to find something. I do not find the left-hand side menu good. We have a lot of options mixed there and we need the best way to deploy cloud resources. I prefer Azure ARM templates since their JSON files are easy to manipulate and integrate with other tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Cloud for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable though some of the features don’t work.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. There are three users of GCP in my organization.

How was the initial setup?

I am the solution’s administrator and have deployed it in my organization. The setup is not so easy. Following the steps that are shown on the screen is okay but the problem arises when we have to create new users. For example, it is not easy to get permission for creating service accounts for users. You have to edit the users, insert a lot of documents, and search the internet to find a solution.

What was our ROI?

There is good ROI with the solution because we have a lot of solutions and some of the features come for free. Even the paid features are priced fairly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is not easy to calculate the price of the solution from the pricing table since they are not standard rates. However, I find the solution’s prices to be fair and reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. The solution is easy to maintain. I would recommend anyone willing to try the solution to study the platform and do some courses on it. I studied the platform a lot before using it. If you do not study the platform, you will find it very disorganized and difficult to maintain.
