Prominent pros & cons

PROS

InfluxDB operates quickly and integrates seamlessly with Grafana, offering excellent scalability and stability.
InfluxDB enables proactive system monitoring and trend analysis using a simple query language.
As a time series database, InfluxDB is powerful, lightweight, and capable of handling heavy workloads efficiently.
InfluxDB's cloud offering is affordable and effective, enhancing real-time data monitoring and performance analysis.
InfluxDB excels in analytics and alerting, integrating well with other tools and optimizing database storage through powerful queries.

CONS

InfluxDB can improve its query language by reintroducing a more SQL-like option, as the current language imposes a learning curve.
Challenges exist with backups, especially when running InfluxDB in Microsoft Azure Kubernetes clusters.
InfluxDB struggles with high-cardinality data and makes writing queries labor-intensive, alongside issues with the bulk API.
Configuration issues can disrupt data collection, and there are problems with password encryption for authentication, needing additional scripting.
Customer support and documentation, particularly on Flux, require enhancements to be more comprehensive and beginner-friendly.

Sometimes, when we write too much data within a minute, the data count becomes excessive, reaching perhaps 100,000 or 500,000 data points, and InfluxDB gives a timeout exception, which we must handle in our application.

However, I do wish the documentation and community resources around Flux were more extensive and beginner-friendly.

However, I cannot ignore the challenges I faced while configuring the database with my message brokers, whether Rabbit or Kafka, because the documentation is not properly provided.

InfluxDB can be improved in several ways. The Flux query language needs to be learned, but if there were something similar to SQL or previous options, it would be much easier for users without imposing a learning curve.

If it gets a little bit more into the metric side, then it would really be great, similar to Prometheus.

I chose an 8 out of 10 because there is room for improvement, such as regarding backups and enhanced security through other types of authentication or encrypted data in TLS.
