Removes gaps, helps with business aspects and improves material planning
Pros and Cons
  • "It's helped with business aspects and improved material planning and RMA processes."
  • "During parallel preparation of go-live processes, SAP B1 and S4H transactional data alignment can be difficult to track."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to import master data. We use classic resolution to collect local US company material masters and align HQ material masters' numbers. We import FI/CO/MM/PP/SD IMG and opening posting accounts and stock.

We use it to import transactional data. We collect purchase orders and sales orders into S4H

We also use it to import security. We collect user roles and permission objects.

We provide training requirements for logistic modules for sales orders to intercompany purchase orders and make production orders for goods issued and goods received. Finally, we run production order confirmations for cost variants.

How has it helped my organization?

We removed gaps for MRP planning, forecast data, and PIR purchase orders. We integrated overall sales commission collections and sales profits management.

It's helped with business aspects and improved material planning and RMA processes.

It's helped with service aspects and improved customer service and spare parts management.

It's good for HQ FICO aspects. We consolidated P/L statements, cash flows, and income statements.

For supply chain aspects, we integrated the last puzzle piece for material control.

What is most valuable?

We found the solution integrated with HQ and local material number for batch orders to split several partial orders.

For customer service and RMA views, material alignment or aggregate is evolving. The US can assign sales forecasts to distribute Asia-built finished parts. This business model can accumulate mass stocks for replacing parts and labor maintenance services. If sales order to shipment can align with the ERP platform, the materials to order can support visibility across Asia/the US/the EU. The integration not only speeds up order processes but also controls solid stocks and costs.

What needs improvement?

During parallel preparation of go-live processes, SAP B1 and S4H transactional data alignment can be difficult to track. The approach is to have the same sales order amount and quantity to compare the correctness so both sides are matched, according to FI concerns. For project purposes, we need to figure out if there is any solution or approach when considering data migration for sales orders and purchase order imports. THe validation is also the key to review bothe side data of correctness.  Any resolution for an add-on program to validate reports can be useful.

Great user experience, easy to use, and well centralized setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The user experience is quite attractive, and maybe the efficiency around the consolidation part as well."
  • "There is value that has been realized."
  • "More integration is necessary."
  • "More integration is necessary. Some struggles remain, especially regarding SAP's integration with other SAP modules."

What is our primary use case?

I am one of the implementing partners for SAP, specifically for HANA. I have worked on quite a few projects where I executed transformations with my clients, and I have found that the transformation has occurred. There is value that has been realized.

What is most valuable?

The user experience is quite attractive, and maybe the efficiency around the consolidation part as well. Everything is in one place, and the ease of use is significant. There is a lot of real-time interaction, and people have highlighted the efficiency and insights that come with it.

Pure Infinity is especially effective in improving the user experience, and the preconfigured apps facilitate and expedite implementation time. From the governance point of view, I've seen positive changes, especially in finance and the transport management system as well.

What needs improvement?

More integration is necessary. Some struggles remain, especially regarding SAP's integration with other SAP modules. For example, integration between S/4HANA and Business for Logistics needs improvement. These issues exist within the integration space and present challenges during implementation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for almost over six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are quite a few factors to consider, which may not be necessarily attributed to SAP and instead to other players. For example, issues related to the public cloud version, such as connectivity, could impact product stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scale is quite significant. It is very scalable, to be honest.

How are customer service and support?

I have a very good relationship, so I would rate it an eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup might be less straightforward, around four to six out of ten. Some elements are not as easy as one might expect.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's quite expensive, to be honest. Technical upgrades, especially for those moving to SAP Cloud, can be significant. The cost might range between two to three million US dollars.

What other advice do I have?

SAP for Canada is my primary job. Depending on the market, I focus on ground sales and private clouds. It's a good product.

I would rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Has industry-specialized modules like retail, hospitality, and manufacturing
Pros and Cons
  • "The core accounting model is robust, so we don't have any issues with it. It has industry-specialized modules like retail, hospitality, and manufacturing. Many industrial-specific modules are very helpful. It's a very robust, reliable, and simple-to-use product. In my experience, it's straightforward."
  • "I would like to see improvements in the graphical user interface and core modules in SAP S/4HANA. Even after 20 years, there haven't been developments in these areas. The purchase order, sales order, and core modules like CRM have remained unchanged. The financial data and modules have also stayed the same. Fiori is available but hasn't brought many changes to the core modules."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution as an ERP system for our retail operations and manufacturing.

What is most valuable?

The core accounting model is robust, so we don't have any issues with it. It has industry-specialized modules like retail, hospitality, and manufacturing. Many industrial-specific modules are very helpful. It's a very robust, reliable, and simple-to-use product. In my experience, it's straightforward.

From a benefits perspective, the main advantage that SAP S/4HANA brings to our organization is that we can have one system for everything. It is used for retail, distribution, and manufacturing engineering. Having a single system allows us to meet our total requirements.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see improvements in the graphical user interface and core modules in SAP S/4HANA. Even after 20 years, there haven't been developments in these areas. The purchase order, sales order, and core modules like CRM have remained unchanged. The financial data and modules have also stayed the same. Fiori is available but hasn't brought many changes to the core modules.

I'd like to see more features in the core ERP module to make it affordable and manageable for small and medium-sized companies. Big companies can handle additional modules like CRM, but smaller businesses struggle to afford and maintain these.

The solution's implementation cost is high.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is easy.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our current number of users for the product is 200, but it will increase. We have it implemented across multiple locations and departments. Our environment spans different countries with various currencies and services. For example, we operate in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, each with its own SAP instance and currency. The solution is easy to scale.

How are customer service and support?

We have support from an internal team as well as SAP. Its support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The tool's deployment is easy.

What was our ROI?

The product's ROI is good.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product a ten out of ten.

A robust application with embedded analytics and an inbuilt native mobile app
Pros and Cons
  • "Only SAP payroll products can handle data management in IT and HR, processing millions of payrolls monthly for big organizations. S/4HANA payroll can manage massive volumes of data, process payroll in minutes, and provide outcomes. Other applications cannot process more than 4000-5000, but SAP S/4HANA payroll has been proven for 30-40 years."
  • "S/4HANA is like a ready-made suit, but it could be improved by adding more customization options, such as different colors and attractive themes in Fiori. From a functionality standpoint, there's always a workaround solution, and we've been working on SAP for the last 18 years."

What is most valuable?

My general opinion of SAP S/4HANA is that it is a simplified and faster application. It is robust, with embedded analytics and an inbuilt native mobile app, eliminating the need for a front-end application. I believe that the tool is one of the leading ERPs. Its architecture, security, user experience, and database performance are fantastic. I have not seen any other ERP that can compete with it.

Only SAP payroll products can handle data management in IT and HR, processing millions of payrolls monthly for big organizations. S/4HANA payroll can manage massive volumes of data, process payroll in minutes, and provide outcomes. Other applications cannot process more than 4000-5000, but SAP S/4HANA payroll has been proven for 30-40 years.

The tool's most valuable feature for our operations includes its finance, sales and distribution, procurement, and time management applications modules. It supports various industries with specific solutions such as oil and gas, student life cycle management for education, IS retail for retail, IS agriculture for agriculture, and chemical solutions for the chemical industry. Additionally, it offers SAP Media. Essentially, S/4HANA provides solutions for any industry and business.

The solution offers real-time analytics. The user interface, Fiori, is excellent. Fiori replaced the SAP NetWeaver portal and serves as the front end. It's a very solid front-end application that allows extensive customization and extensions. You can tailor it to your needs, making it a robust application.

User adoption has been smooth with Fiori. We have various methods for adopting the application, such as SAP Build Work Zone and SAP Fiori Launchpad. Fiori provides a simplified user experience. For example, creating a sales order involves minimal fields and is straightforward. Users don't require training to use the applications as they are user-friendly, similar to downloading and using a mobile app. Any technical changes are managed by the IT team, but overall, the adoption is very easy for users.

Integrations are made very easy with S/4HANA, so you don't have to struggle much. However, we face timelines, cost, and budget challenges. We are confident in customizing and delivering requirements if something is impossible as part of the standard. There are situations where certain features are not available in other platforms like SuccessFactors, which can lead to challenges in implementation. However, with the product, we have confidence that we can provide value-added solutions and deliver them, even if there are some limitations compared to on-premises or cloud solutions.

The tool's accuracy is 99.9 percent.

What needs improvement?

S/4HANA is like a ready-made suit, but it could be improved by adding more customization options, such as different colors and attractive themes in Fiori. From a functionality standpoint, there's always a workaround solution, and we've been working on SAP for the last 18 years.

I expect more functionalities related to cloud applications and integrations with third-party applications in the next release. Given the complex architecture and data storage in the SAP database, simpler plug-and-play integration methods would be beneficial. While SAP S/4HANA currently ranks second in cloud comparison integration models, easier integration methods would be a valuable improvement.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool's stability a ten out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's pricing depends on customers and how much discount they can get. However, the list price is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product a ten out of ten.

Helpful to handle a lot of analytics and reporting areas of businesses but needs improvement in the pricing aspect
Pros and Cons
  • "I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine."
  • "I think that the cost is a big area of concern, considering what users get out of the tool."

What is our primary use case?

The tool is like a spinning desk mechanism where a lot of data comes from multiple sources of multiple applications using a kind of main single source or an index from a single source through a system of record. For multiple applications holding all their data that pertains to a certain piece of data that is housed in a different application database over here, SAP S/4HANA builds models to basically collect all that information and figure out how to build reports out of each of the applications based on their datasets with a key from one of the datasets. If I have a transaction, but my transaction originates in the system over here, and the system has a lot more information, then the transaction makes its way into our system of record, after which it pulls data from the system of record, but it also pulls information from the other system to get more context to the application.

What is most valuable?

The most critical feature of the product for my company's operations would be the conglomerate business modeling which is good. I think the clients I work with are very concerned about their own data and the data of others, so they do need things in real-time, but they need more context around it and why it is being used, but otherwise, it is just a bunch of numbers.

What needs improvement?

I think that the cost is a big area of concern, considering what users get out of the tool. I believe there are some tools and even some cloud-based kind of data modeling tools, which once you start putting applications to the cloud and sharing search services in databases, I think that can kind of buy you what SAP used to put together years ago to sell, and it can be helpful for the power of what you are trying to do with it. In our company, I don't think we are building models constantly, like the real-time decision-making AI models right now with the current tool. In our company, I don't think we will ever be able to get to the aforementioned point with the use of the tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with SAP S/4HANA.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product's scalability is very good, but again, I think our company's clients don't use it for what it is made for, specifically in terms of its cost. I think it is a more powerful tool than our company's clients need.

How are customer service and support?

For support purposes, my company used to approach the main vendor of the product who helped us with the implementation part.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I work more on the functional side, consisting of reports in Power BI.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of the product's initial setup process, I would say that my company is in a very unique situation with our clients. The product's initial setup process is pretty difficult to handle. On a scale of one to ten, where ten means it was easy, I rate the setup phase a three.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

The solution deployment took a few months because only a few experts knew how to do it. A lot of people were involved in getting the information ready and requirements done, but only a few experts could manage it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is expensive. On a scale of one to ten, one being the lowest price and ten being the highest, I rate the product price as seven or eight.

What other advice do I have?

A few of the products that my company uses are from SAP. My company mostly prefers an application-based or platform-based environment, so we are not on a single source platform. I think we are moving to Azure's cloud services, which will help enable our company to use some of the aforementioned areas. My company uses some NetApp tools to help with our data integration needs, especially since our systems are integrated. There are some API integrations with various applications that we use in our company.

There are some people in our company who deal with SAP S/4HANA set, and then what they do is they replicate data through the models and then expand that to Microsoft Power Apps and Power BI to create reports for everybody.

The tool must handle a lot of analytics and reporting areas like financial information, location information, and other things to support our company's core business processes.

I think because of the size of the data and some of the network support that my company has had on the tool, I can say that many of it wasn't in real-time. The tool hasn't really lived up to what it needs to be, especially from a cost perspective; it is too much, considering what our company gets out of it.

Migrating to SAP S/4HANA has affected our company's data management and reporting in a positive way. The tool gave better access to the information that can then be either viewed or manipulated externally through a different BI or utility. It did give more flexibility in building models. I think we had old warehouse mechanism information many years ago, so I believe that there is a need to do data mining of old transaction journals, which would take a long time, while SAP S/4HANA definitely has helped to speed up the process and actually regenerate the reports. I think sometimes making changes to the tool has been a problem because certain things that are not are just not built the way you want them to be, and so there can be bad information available inside out. I don't think our other tools feed SAP S/4HANA system to have the data in order to actually make it usable without some intervention.

I rate the tool a six or seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

The overall complexity level needs to be simplified
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution."
  • "The problem with the tool is that its complexity is very high."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company, which is basically a warehouse enterprise. The solution optimized our company's core business processes, considering that it used to be a legacy SAP system, which migrated to a new system. The tool is used for consolidation purposes and for rolling out to multiple countries in Europe.

What needs improvement?

There are products equivalent to SAP S/4HANA available in the cloud, but simplification is a part that I feel is very important. The product needs to be simplified. SAP S/4HANA is like a monster, while Salesforce is easy to implement and is like a SaaS product. SAP comes in a SaaS model with S/4HANA cloud.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP S/4HANA for around eight months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. The problem with the tool is that its complexity is very high. In the tool, the business process complexity is very high, and so either one should accept SAP's best practices or change SAP according to the business, but there will be a lot of support tickets raised after that, which leads to a lot of delay in the process, and you won't be able to do things on time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

During the role of the product across multiple countries, the first one was successful, while the second one led to losses, and the project in the third one was shelved.

There are around 3,000 people in my company who use the product.

The product is regularly used in my company.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support was from a third-party company, and I found that they lacked in the area of knowledge since it is managed by juniors while others were just running the show from the front end, leading to a disaster.

How was the initial setup?

If the tool is deployed on the cloud, it could take a maximum of ten to twelve weeks. On an on-premises model, it takes its own course in terms of the time required for the deployment phase to be completed.

The product's deployment phase was a massive transformation program, so we could not build it on our own in the company, a reason we had to look for third-parties, like Wipro, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, IBM, PwC, or KPMG, who could help us.

A third party, Infosys, takes care of the team required to manage the maintenance and deployment since it is a massive transformation project.

What about the implementation team?

The product's deployment phase is done with the help of a third-party consulting firm.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The problem with SAP is that it offers two licenses, namely runtime license and enterprise license. If you have a runtime license, then you are doomed since you can't take any data out from the tool. The product's licenses are expensive.

What other advice do I have?

In terms of the impact of the real-time data in SAP on our company's decision-making, I would say that we are heading towards building reporting or analytics solutions, but we haven't started with it yet.

There has not been much difference in the area of workflow efficiency from the use of the tool.

In our company, we are shifting our roadmap from the legacy ERP system to a new ERP, and I would say that it is the only difference, but apart from that, there is not much difference. SAP’s Fiori UI in the tool is quite interesting.

All the processes in our company are the same. For example, the procurement, delivery, and finance stages are all the same, and there is not much difference.

It is a complex solution, and the project for which it was used was shelved. With SAP S/4HANA, the project could go live only in one country. SAP S/4HANA messed up the implementation process in the second country because of which in the first quarter, the company went into a negative revenue. After the implementation of the product in the second country was unsuccessful, my company did not go ahead with the use of the tool in the third country, after which the project was shelved.

If a business is very massive, then I can go with SAP S/4HANA. I don't recommend SAP to businesses that are small to medium.

I rate the tool a one out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Offers a user-friendly UI to users
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface of SAP S/4HANA is user-friendly."
  • "The product's high cost is an area of concern where improvements are required."

What needs improvement?

Based on my knowledge and experience during the transformation phase with the tool, I think the product provides things in a very planned manner in terms of the data, migration with different phases and testing, and servers to move to, making it a very easy process and very comfortable to move to it from another solution.

The product's high cost is an area of concern where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP S/4HANA for a few days. I am not a user of the tool, but I work as a support in my company to help integrate the solution with some other software products. I look into the secondary sales systems. I am not the core user of the product.

How are customer service and support?

My company's technical team and IT team may have had the need to contact the solution's technical support team.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company switched over to SAP S/4HANA from SAP ECC, which was a legacy system and did not operate in real-time while there was need for some customizations leading to different challenges. Globally, every organization has moved to tSAP S/4HANA for improved processes and real-time analytics. I think the core objectives of the founder of the organization stems from the aforementioned details.

How was the initial setup?

The solution can be deployed and implemented in a year because my organization has a very huge infrastructure of SAP. My company has bought different modules and data from SAP, so going through the documentation and everything takes time during the implementation phase.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Whether the product is expensive or not is something that may vary from company to company. If I consider my organization, I feel that the product is a bit expensive. Myorganization is not currently using big modules like S/4HANA and the other different modules. Though National Food Limited is a global organization, I think the tool is costly. National Food Limited wants to grow up with the technology since the founder states that they have a certain benchmark in the world. The product is worth the money.

What other advice do I have?

My background is in providing support for software tools our company uses for order booking and for secondary sales software, which consists of mobile booking for markets and stores. For analytical dashboards, my company uses Power BI, which is connected to the software tools we use in the company. For integrations with SAP S/4HANA, my company has connected a few databases with inbound and outbound APIs.

My company is very satisfied with the tool and I believe that it is going to be a very good transformation for our organization. Before my company used to work on SAP ECC, and now we are migrating to SAP S/4HANA. Everyone in our company has very good experience with SAP. Now, my company is going to go live in a week or two.

My company uses the tool to make end-to-end processes easier, and we have a consultant named Reynold from PwC. My company uses the consultancy service offered by PwC to manage National Foods Limited and SAP.

My company plans to use the tool for real-time analytics or decision-making. I think the founder of my organization admires the fact that with SAP's technology, we are able to use real-time information and it is a good improvement in the strategic area and the directions. SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Forecasting Algorithms can definitely be helpful.

I am not able to comment much about the solution since my company is still in the transformation stage.

The user interface of SAP S/4HANA is user-friendly. In different modules, like financial and production ones, I have experienced the use of the tool with different people who have mentioned that it is a very helpful product for them.

I have worked with Fiori UI/UX and also with SAP IBP and SAP SAC. In SAP, the dashboard can be managed in real-time.

The product helps increase the data processing speed, especially in areas like workflow. When it comes to the financial aspect, the tool provides very strong financial and credit limits, which is a very good feature of the tool, as it can help the organization move to a certain level.

I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

An ERP system for financials, logistics, human resources, sales, distribution, and billing
Pros and Cons
  • "SAP S/4HANA dominates around 70 percent of the ERP market in Chile, and I believe this isn't merely coincidental. I've always maintained that if someone believes SAP S/4HANA lacks a certain functionality, they haven't explored it thoroughly. However, there's a widespread lack of understanding regarding its full potential and how to configure it."
  • "I think the user interface still needs improvement. While efforts are being made to enhance and make it more user-friendly, there are still shortcomings. Fiori is a great step forward, but work must be done. So, I believe SAP S/4HANA should focus more on improving GUI access. We also had a difficult time migrating the fixed assets."

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool  as an ERP transactional system for financials, logistics, human resources, sales, distribution, and billing.

What is most valuable?

SAP S/4HANA dominates around 70 percent of the ERP market in Chile, and I believe this isn't merely coincidental. I've always maintained that if someone believes SAP S/4HANA lacks a certain functionality, they haven't explored it thoroughly. However, there's a widespread lack of understanding regarding its full potential and how to configure it.

Many businesses in Chile and elsewhere underutilize SAP S/4HANA, limiting its use to basic tasks like document entry or accounting, which is unfortunate considering its capabilities. SAP S/4HANA offers integration, consistency, security, and potential for user-friendliness. Nonetheless, initiatives like Fiori and SAPS/4HANA seem to be moving in the right direction to address this issue.

I can discuss one of our largest clients, a utility company. They specialize in generating and commercializing electricity, primarily for industrial customers. They utilize the tool, encompassing standard ERP features like logistics, human resources, and financials, and integrating their core business processes into the entire system. It adds great value to the company.

For instance, by integrating metering systems online into the ERP system, all billing and operational processes become online. The system connects with the CRM system and incorporates the physical network. Let me provide an example. If there's an outage at your home, contact the utility company, and the tool will identify your location and provide access to relevant client information.

The entire process is seamlessly integrated into the system. When the affected individual is eventually billed, they will receive a discount due to the outage, as per our loss analysis for such situations. It's all integrated, making the experience seamless, efficient, and pleasant for everyone involved, from the call center staff to the customers.

The solution's most valuable feature is integration. Our core data services are very powerful, and they allow a whole new reporting capability that was not present before. Another valuable feature is energy data management, specifically the processing of metering information from utilities, which has benefited our organization the most. It allows us to monitor real-time consumption data.

The use cases I mentioned before all involve customization in terms of parameterization and custom developments. We strive to keep things standard, but there are cases where centralization or more specific development is needed. Through both of these means, we've successfully delivered projects and provided meaningful solutions to our customers.

What needs improvement?

I think the user interface still needs improvement. While efforts are being made to enhance and make it more user-friendly, there are still shortcomings. Fiori is a great step forward, but work must be done. So, I believe SAP S/4HANA should focus more on improving GUI access. We also had a difficult time migrating the fixed assets.

For how long have I used the solution?
