How are customer service and support?

There is a large open-sourced community that is helpful. I had a lot of problems when starting out and there was plenty of assistance throughout the community. Since everyone is helping for free the support could be better. However, this is typical when you are dealing with open-sourced solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was very easy and it took approximately 30 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

I did the implementation myself. I installed Ubunto Linux on virtual machines which not everyone knows how to do it. You need to have prior technical knowledge.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

One of the main reason users use this solution is because it is free.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

Ubuntu is mainly required for work services, your domain name services, and internet public-facing services.

What is most valuable?

It is flexible. It's the best of both worlds.

It's secure.

There is a lot of content available online that can help you, if you have an issue. There is good community support to help you with any issues you may encounter.

There are several manuals online that are free and available to help you.

What needs improvement?

The repository needs improvement. 

The repository needs to be kept up to date all of the time.

For how long have I used the solution?

With my previous employment, I have used Ubuntu Linux for approximately five years. 

It is not currently being used but has been used within the last year. 

We were not using the latest version. It was between version 16.4 and 18.4.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use a mix of different solutions, two of which are Ubuntu Linux and CentOS.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and it is only ten minutes maximum to deploy.

We have one engineer to maintain this solution. It is not complex. It's something you install, configure, and walk away from.

What about the implementation team?

We did not use a consultant, we completed the installation ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We don't pay any fees.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution, and it works quite well.

I provide products for my customers. There are no limits to this solution.

Customers can use it for almost all applications and they can use it for their own systems.

What is most valuable?

Once you are used to it, it is quite flexible. It is more powerful because you have more control over it.

It's not as easy to use as Windows by Microsoft. It could be easier to use.

I have been providing this solution to my customers for a few years.

It is stable to an extent. Microsoft and Apple are more stable.

The stability definitely can be improved. When we are implementing patches and new releases, it tends to fail.

There is a lot of support available on the internet. Getting solutions is not difficult.

I have less experience with this solution than others, however, I can't recall specific improvements or features I would like to see.

It could always be a bit more secure. If they could continue to work on making it more and more secure in upcoming releases, that would be ideal.

I've been using the solution for about two years or so at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. Its performance is good. It's reliable.

The scalability potential of the solution is good. If a company would like to expand the solution, it can do so with relative ease. It's not hard. 

We have about 50 people in total who are currently using the solution.

Whether we continue to use the solution or increase usage will depend largely on end-user requirements. It's not really up to us for the most part.

The solution has been very easy to install. It's not overly complicated or difficult. it's pretty easy in general.

Normally, the deployment is pretty fast.

We have a technical team of two administrators that can handle any maintenance requirements.

I can handle the implementation myself. I do not need to call on consultants or integrators. It can be managed in-house.

We are not buying any licenses at the moment.

We are simply customers and end-users. We don't have a business relationship with Unbuntu Linux.

We are using the latest version of the solution. I cannot recall the version number off-hand.

I would recommend the solution to other organizations and other users. We've had a good experience overall.
