Top 5
Straightforward installation
Pros and Cons
  • "I think that they have been doing a great job for a long time now when it comes to installation and user experience."
  • "Although the solution has been pretty nice to use, I have encountered certain bugs in the updates."

What is our primary use case?

I am using the latest version.

I use it on my personal computer for such things as emails and Youtube. What with the current pandemic, my kids use it for homeschooling.

What needs improvement?

Although the solution has been pretty nice to use, I have encountered certain bugs in the updates. Other than that, things have been pretty good, although I do prefer Mac over Windows nowadays, having a couple years' experience with it in the past. I feel it to be a better operating system when compared with Windows.

While I consider Windows to be one of the most user-friendly operating systems and a market leader, the bugs which have plagued it's updates all along are problematic. This is why I choose to deduct a point from its rating.

An example of a bug I encountered one or two months back involved the malfunctioning of certain keys on the laptop. When I removed the update, things reverted to normal. This can be a problem when one of the keys is part of your password. It necessitates use of the virtual keyboard, which is open to others. These are issues Microsoft should be addressing and should resolve prior to releasing the patch.

QA needs to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Windows 10 for the last two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

While the solution has been good, overall, the bugs I have come across have been an issue.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never had occasion to contact technical support. As a technician, myself, I've managed to fix things on my own.

How was the initial setup?

The installation has been pretty straightforward. I think that they have been doing a great job for a long time now when it comes to installation and user experience.

A single installation takes no more than 25 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

One can handle the installation on his own.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Every time I've bought Windows, it came bundled with the laptop, so we are talking about a perpetual license. I'm not sure how this would operate in the retail market.

What other advice do I have?

I would, definitely, recommend this solution to others.

I make personal use of it.

I would not rate Windows 10 as a ten out of ten, but would give it a rating of nine.

Easy to use for everyone, simple installation, but expensive
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use. It is the most used operating system in the world."
  • "The solution can improve by making it more private and allowing users to know what operations are going on in the background code."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 can be used for running personal or business applications.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use. It is the most used operating system in the world.

What needs improvement?

The solution can improve by making it more private and allowing users to know what operations are going on in the background code. More transparency is needed. For example, there is a project called Purism which is a Linux operating system that comes in a form of a phone or a laptop. Their focus is transparency, if I wanted to know what exactly is happening on my device, I can always go to the project documentation and take a look for my peace of mind.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for approximately five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Everyone in my organization is using this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never needed to open a ticket with the Microsoft technical team.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Purism Linux.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is simple and anyone could do it.

What about the implementation team?

We have a team that does the implementation and maintenance of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution can be expensive for businesses to use Microsoft Windows 10.

What other advice do I have?

I would not recommend Windows 10 personally, but because it is the most used operating system, most employees in an organization would adapt to it quickly. They are familiar with it.

It is good to look at alternatives and evaluate. At the same time never underestimate the effect of rejection that end users can have if you change the technology.

I would advise others using Windows solutions to invest heavily in the security products, they are the most used operating system. That does not make it less secure than other operating systems but it makes it more targeted. When it is more targeted you will have more vulnerabilities and therefore it is really important to focus on the security aspects when it comes to Windows infrastructure.

I rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.
