I would prefer to have the integrated heat map feature provided by the basic controller in the Solution instead of purchasing an external one. Accessing this capability directly within the controller's access point would be convenient.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar offers a scalable and centralized wireless solution with key features like Captive Portal and Spectrum Monitor. It integrates seamlessly with networks through Express mode, making it practical for environments needing efficient connectivity.

I would prefer to have the integrated heat map feature provided by the basic controller in the Solution instead of purchasing an external one. Accessing this capability directly within the controller's access point would be convenient.
I have been using the solution for the past 10 years.
The product is highly stable. I rate it a nine out of ten.
The support of this solution is great. The timeliness of their responses is crucial for me. When I raise an issue, I can count on receiving a prompt reply, eliminating the need for extensive online searches or phone calls. This efficiency is paramount in saving time. In the rare instances where problems arise, they are usually swiftly addressed.
Positive
I have worked with different solutions in the past and switched to Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar because of its quick installation time. It requires no additional preparation.
The initial setup is straightforward. In our segment, for instance, it can typically be completed within an hour. However, the total time depends on the number of equipment pieces.
At times, it appears that the solution's pricing is slightly higher. This makes it challenging to persuade customers who primarily focus on the price, especially when they are aware of more affordable alternatives like Ubiquiti. While I wish there was flexibility to bring down the price a bit, I understand that the segment is positioned near Aruba and Cisco products. The aim is to maintain competitiveness while ensuring the price remains below that of major competitors.
I have worked with Aruba, Ubiquiti, and Microtech in the past.
We use the solution in one local and one remote office. For now, these are two isolated Express clusters. However, we plan to migrate to an Enterprise configuration in the central site and set up remote WiFi for our second office.
A few isolated WLAN were implemented to provide QoS and independence for the following services: the access network, voice communication network, IoT network, guest access network, and a few networks for LAB and the showroom. All networks propagated to the secondary office to implement one traffic control and interchange in the central point
As a new solution, Stellar supports AC/AX standards - meaning we can use more devices with fewer access points and increase connection speed dramatically.
We do not use dedicated IoT access protocols and media and control functionality as all of them use standard WiFi access, and we created only a dedicated WLAN to isolate all IoT devices from the production network.
The solution offers very high load tolerance for Stellar access points - even for budget models. This allows us to use a lot of IoT devices even with fewer access points used.
Express in default configuration mode with first turn-on is easy to set up and deploy from a medium installation standpoint. It offers very easy integration with the current wired network. Express mode provides a reliable infrastructure solution with easy deployment and maintenance procedures, simple configuration of backup and restore, and automated virtual management controller placement. We can restore with only one fixed IP for management purposes. In combination with ALE's LAN switches with embedded R8 SW intelligent fabric automation we can create a new WLAN and map them to existing or new VLANs in one click.
The current implementation of our Guest Access network in isolation for Express mode is very complicated in comparison with leading market solutions. It requires more experience and training to set up the correct configuration of NAT/PAT and to map the Guest access networks to VLAN.
We need an implementation of a configuration wizard to configure isolated guest access networks or to set the network for an external isolated network for guests.
For Enterprise mode, an automated VPN gateway deployment and configuration for remote AP deployment would be highly recommended.
We have used the solution for three years - after migration from Aruba.
Some SW versions have issues. However, updates and patches are issued on time to solve the problem.
We've never reached any connection limits for a single AP as we do not have enough devices to overload it> Even at a maximum load, we do not experience access slowdown.
Educational self-services on the vendor's website are easy to complete and use. SW support (updates and patches) is a little bit more complicated as download requests and approval take time. Technical support service is working 24/7 for support requests yet it still takes days to solve the issue.
Positive
We migrated from Aruba Instant as the solution price was lower, and it had the same functionality. Also, the virtual controller functionality was included for free in OmniVista NMS for ten access points.
The initial setup is very easy and the setup wizard allows us to do the first steps in a few minutes. DNS and DHCP services in a nework is a must to go through easy setup mode. The quick configuration guide is easy to use.
We handled the setup in-house with an SMB configuration guide. It is really easy to set up for Express default mode (controllerless). The Enterprise configuration with virtual control is much more complicated.
We have not calculated ROI yet.
This is a very attractive solution with an average market price. Express mode is easy to deploy. Enterprise mode installations need more training for engineering stuff; however, free guides are available through partners. For starter Enterprise configuration, the first ten access points are licensed for free.
We tested UniFi WiFi behavior in complex configurations and found it has low predictability; the configuration process is more complicated and the documentation is not complete.
This is the most attractive solution when implemented with ALE LAN solution. That said, as a standalone, it is very useful too - especially in Express mode.

My company's customers are looking for good security products, and as far as addressing concerns, I feel that there are no issues with the tool's integration with our customers' existing infrastructures while using open SIP protocol.
The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a distributed architecture.
Most customers are asking for an on-premises hardware architecture while it is available as a software-based architecture.
I have been using Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar for eight years.
I have not seen any downtime in the tool.
It is a scalable solution.
Only hardware changes are needed for the scalability party. The tool's software is supported by Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar. I recommend the tool to others.
I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
I have contacted the solution's technical support for guest management purposes. If I compare Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar to the guest management features in Aruba, I would say that the former doesn't have many features. I rate the technical support a ten out of ten.
Positive
The product's implementation phase is carried out with the help of the documentation part to meet our customer's requirements.
One person can deploy the solution.
The tool is easy to maintain.
The solution can be deployed in two hours.
The tool is cost-effective, according to our sales team's feedback.
The network management is all good, and it is not an issue. The tool has the best features in terms of application visibility.
My company never faced any security issues with the product. Whatever security standards are in the industry, terms of security are implemented in the product.
My sales team says that it is a less expensive tool compared to other vendors.
I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is close to other products like Aruba, Huawei, or Ruckus in terms of control and management planes, and the latest radio and security technologies supported. One feature that differentiates Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar from some other vendors is the fact that on-premise OmniVista licenses are perpetual. Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is a mid-range product with respect to pricing and the target market we are looking for.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar's radio management side could be improved. A lot still needs to be done in this area. For example, if you deploy this kind of solution in a stadium, you need a lot of technical features on the radio management side to make it work.
I have been using Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar for less than three months.
I rate Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar a seven out of ten for scalability. Four engineers are currently using Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar in our organization.
Before Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar, I worked with solutions like Aruba, Huawei, Ruckus, Aerohive, and Cisco.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar's initial setup took less than half an hour.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is a mid-range solution with respect to pricing. I rate Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar a six out of ten for pricing.
I did an audit with the previous version of Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar because it had been installed two years ago where I did the audit.
My advice is that Alcatel-Lucent should push its partners to be well-trained in wireless technology before promoting its solution (this is the case unfortunately for most vendors)
Overall, I rate Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar an eight out of ten.
Other resellers are successfully implementing this solution for healthcare. They are using this Stellar solution for the wireless. The use cases are designed for the attendee only. We're working with educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and small hospitality businesses.
The solution is deployed on-premises. Cloud is not accepted in Pakistan, especially on the WiFi.
The features aren't much different than those in Aruba, but deployment is easier to configure and the pricing is better.
If the customers plan to go on the cloud side, they need encryption and daily communications from a security perspective.
We're facing integration issues with it. Customers want to engage with their PA systems on WiFi because they want to create certain, small zones where they can do announcements through the wireless.
I've been associated with Alcatel for almost more than 20 years.
In the beginning we faced challenges. After a couple of years, it's quite stable now.
It's scalable for medium enterprises. For a large enterprise, we still have to rely on human access, not Stellar anymore because we have a limitation on how many access points we can control from the human access Stellar platform. So the number of APs are limited, which is quite notable for a large organization looking for 1,000 or 2,000 APs.
Technical support is very good.
It's pricey, but better than similar solutions.
I would rate this solution 8 out of 10.
Sometimes, we're not able to meet the complex requirement with Stellar.

This product is a wireless access point and we use it as part of our network infrastructure to provide wireless access to our employees. It is possible, for example, to integrate a guest's mobile device as their extension. In the past, phones were only available as a physical device in-room.
Once a customer is checked in, they are given a QR barcode that they can use to download the app. Then, that phone will act as their hotel room extension. When they are anywhere on the hotel premises, the operator can reach them using Wi-Fi. It's very simple.
We are a solution provider, and some of our customers are also using it. They are both SMB and enterprise customers, and they use it in the hospitality industry for providing Wi-Fi.
This vendor also sells telephone equipment that we require for other use cases. When our customers use the same vendor for telephone equipment and wireless access points, it makes it easier to implement and manage.
When the use case is a hotel, this solution makes it easy to update everything for the guests, such as the hotel page or advertising. Everything can be integrated using this Wi-Fi solution.
We can manage all of the access points and policies from a single pane of glass.
We are very satisfied with the performance.
Integrates well with PMS, bandwidth managers, and other systems.
Better integration with third-party systems is what our customers are expecting in the future. For example, if they want to add four or five access points and they want to use Alcatel-Lucent, it will not work with an existing Cisco or Aruba product. This is a problem with other vendors, as well, because they use their own protocols that do not work with third-party products.
Essentially, we would like to see better interoperability with access points from other vendors. Multi-vendor installations will work alongside each other but will not work together. They will each be part of their own cluster. Ideally, we don't want multiple clusters. The protocols that they use should not be vendor-specific.
If all of the manufacturers supported interoperability then customers would not need to make an additional investment. Rather, their existing equipment can be used. This would be preferable to the situation as it is now.
An example of this is telephone systems that use the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Any phone of any brand will work. If it supports this protocol then we can just connect it and use it. If the same thing were true with access points then we could mix and match without any problems.
We have been using the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar access point for approximately four years.
This is a very stable product. The manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty so there is no need to worry in that regard. It is well supported.
We are using this product with many of our customers, and there haven't been any issues with stability or performance.
This is suitable for small, medium, and enterprise-level companies.
We have approximately 200 clients that use this solution.
The Alcatel technical support is fast. You simply call and they can provide you with support, 24/7. We can also contact them by email.
Certification is required to access the manufacturer's support.
We are a solution provider and we have more than 500 customers that have purchased similar equipment from many different vendors. As such, I have experience with similar products from Cisco, Juniper, Ubiquity, HPE, Aruba, and others.
The Alcatel-Lucent feature set is similar to what Cisco and Aruba are providing. The use cases are similar, as well. This is one of the reasons that we recommend Alcatel-Lucent.
The choice of product is largely dependent on the customer's preference. For example, some people like Cisco products. If their mind is set on Cisco then we can't often change it, so we sell them the Cisco product. If it is just a question of performance, then whatever the customer needs can be provided by Alcatel-Lucent.
The installation is straightforward and although it is not complicated, we need to have the proper expertise. If somebody doesn't know this product then it will be very complex. That's why we have people who are trained on the product and have certifications from the vendor.
For people that are certified, the setup is easy. This is the same case with other vendors; those who are trained on the product can configure it. It depends on the technician's expertise.
The price of this product is average and it is a one-time, perpetual license.
When compared with other vendors, the cost of Alcatel-Lucent is less than Cisco but more expensive than Linksys.
Overall, this is a good product and I recommend it.
I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

We are installing this solution for our enterprise customers for access, applications, mail, and CRM. The product can also be used to provide access for remote workers.
The solution's most valuable aspects include its BYOD features, user network profiles, and unified communication.
The initial setup is pretty straightforward.
The solution needs to improve access for Mac and iOS devices.
There are occasional OS bugs.
I've been using the solution over the last three or so years. I've used it for a while now.
The product is 80% is stable. The only real issue is when there is an OS bug. Only then will there be an issue. The OEM is doing the OS bugs fixing.
The solution is scalable. It works for any size of company, no matter if it's a small business, enterprise, government, education, hospitality, or any other type of customer.
It's also easy to scale, as it's a soft controller. You just have to add on the licenses. It can scale up to 4,000 access points.
Our company tends to provide technical support to our clients if they need our help.
That said, if there is an OS bug or there is a vulnerability, then OEM needs to be aware the bug needs to be fixed. With regard to that, we contact technical support.
We also use Aruba. We use both simultaneously.
The solution offers a pretty simple setup. It's not overly complex or difficult. A company shouldn't have any issues with the process. However, it does depend on the organizational requirements.
The time it takes to deploy the solution also varies. A smaller setup, for example, may only take about two days. However, a larger setup could take longer.
We are a premium partner of Alcatel-Lucent.
Overall, I would recommend this solution to other users and companies.
I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten.
We helped a large University in Brazil install the solution. It helps run:
It has a full view of the organization's network and the Wireless LAN security is on the same screen. It really makes sense to have the whole solution on the same screen. In comparison, other solutions do not do this.
It needs to be faster in order to process and transmit bigger packets.
It is excellent in terms of stability.
I call tech support whenever I have an issue and they respond within 24 hours.
It is an easy installation. It takes about two days to install and implement. As long as you plan for the configuration, you are fine.
There is definite ROI with this product. This product creates a baseline of technology that will be a means to grow in five to ten years from now. By using this solution, it is an investment in the installation of that baseline.
We find the price comparable to other products on the market.
We are familiar with other systems on the market such as: Cisco, Aruba, and Huawei.
When choosing a solution, be sure to run a proof of concept of the products you are considering. If the price is very low, be sure to evaluate why it is a lower-priced product.
We use this solution in hotels, hospitals, SMB enterprises, large enterprises, gyms, and also in our company. Every scenario is different and requires a different type of WLAN configuration.
Our company is a premium reseller in Portugal of Alcatel-Lucent (in all areas). With the improvement in the range of all Alcatel-Lucent products, our business has grown and we have the ability to acquire small enterprise projects where they have lower IT budgets.
This product can be divided in 3 types of WLAN.
With these three types, Alcatel-Lucent can give the client a range of solutions within budget of each, and still guarantee the quality of the solution.
The only area this product can grow is the web interface. It could be nicer and easier to use.
I haven’t had any problems with stability with OmniAccess WLAN, only in the new AP1101 with 5Ghz equipment. Alcatel released new firmware correcting this issue.
When you choose the best WLAN option you won’t have problems.
Alcatel has two kinds of support. The first will be from the official partner in your country. The second will be the international service. In the latter case, if a joint intervention is required, it can take some time and be out of operation for hours because this support is in Asia.
Before Alcatel had the new, cheaper solutions, we used D-Link, Tp-Link. Today there is no need for those solutions.
Today the setup is very easy, you can use a web browser and just follow the steps. I remember that in 2009, it was a little complex, but not too hard. You had to start the AP by CLI and choose the language for use (only English, German, and French were available) and select the country where you were using the system. Then all configurations were done by CLI.
The price is in the range of other brands like Cisco, maybe a little cheaper but you get the same features, facilities, and security.
Licensing is something Alcatel is making changes to. A few years ago you would buy a WLAN solution from Alcatel for half the price of Cisco, but you would spend the same amount on licensing. Today this is different and the licensing is cheaper.
I’d rate this product as an eight out of 10 because it is not accessible to everyone to take 100% advantage of the product. Only those with certification and high-tech experience can get 100% out of it, not the average IT person.
Look at the needs of the client, or your own needs as an IT administrator, and look for an Alcatel reseller or partner with experience to help you with the solution.
OmniAccess Stellar AP1230 Series is better than CISCO highest model Aironet 3800i AP in terms of quality, user capacity, coverage, performance and price. Moreover, there's no Hardware Controller, it's totally managed by a software defined on-premises Controller which is easy very to handle.
Owner is highly satisfied based on OmniAccess WLAN and they are getting more performance than expected.
OmniVista 2500 managed Software defined Controller with OmniAccess Stellar AP1230 Series AP cost is very cheap compared to Cisco HW Controller or Cloud Controller or Virtual controller with Aironet 3800i AP. Besides, OmniVista 2500 manageability and AP performance is wonderful.
Six months.
No. Very simple configuration that anyone can configure who doesn't have wireless experience.
No. stable firmware.
OmniAccess WLAN's main advantage is its scalability which is better than CISCO.
Wonderful response and 24/7 service makes you happy.
Technical Support:10 out of 10.
We used CISCO AP but client was not happy with the number of client connections per AP. OmniAccess WLAN Stellar AP1230 Support for up to 768 associated clients per AP. Up to 512 APs when managed by OmniVista 2500 managed but no limit on the number of AP groups.
Simple, straightforward and easy to understand.
An in-house, as this configuration is very simple.
200% profit within three years full warranty.
Earlier I wouldn't give a reference to another vendor except CISCO. Now I would prefer OmniAccess WLAN Stellar AP1230.
