Easy to install and use with good support and
It's too early to say what improvements are needed, but I can only say we are happy with our decision to move to TMON. We haven't looked at the graphic tools so far, but they're on our to-do list for this year. We will see what happens after the move to Rocket Software. We haven't seen any missing information about our daily work and analysis of our production systems and applications. We're like it to be possible to move some more workload to our ZIIP processors to save us some billing for general workload.

Automation has improved alerts and file handling but script-based setup still needs simplification
OPS_MVS Automation Intelligence is the automation tool I use. I think OPS_MVS Automation Intelligence is good for creating complex rules because it's coding, but it takes time to learn how to use it. OPS_MVS Automation Intelligence works well if you know the syntax very well and you have experience in creating scripts or REXX syntax; it would be very good and is a good tool, but it takes time to learn, so that is for experienced staff to work with. I would rate the product a six from one to ten. I cannot think of any additional features in the next release of OPS_MVS Automation Intelligence.

Pros

"The report writer in TMON is a very good add-on for batch reports which weren't available in OmegaMon/CICS."
"The service has been wonderful. I like the people that I have had to deal with. The process is very straightforward. I call or use the website."
"It is an easy product to use and it is stable."
"I would say yes, definitely use it."
"It’s invaluable for expediting the shutdowns/IPLs of our z/OS LPARs and monitoring our z/OS LPARs for issues/problems."
"We really do need this product, we have the necessity now because we have implemented for so long that we can't function without this product."
"The technical support is top notch; they have always been right there for us whenever we were needed, including the offer to be available on weekends during a recent upgrade if needed, and they are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable."
"For the mainframe it's a really good automation tool, it's been really solid for what we needed it for, and it's been flexible and scalable across the enterprise."
"We went with the best automation solution available."

Cons

"We're like it to be possible to move some more workload to our ZIIP processors to save us some billing for general workload."
"My impressions on OPS_MVS Automation Intelligence is that it's quite difficult to use, as it relies mainly on the coding syntax and doesn't provide an easy-to-use GUI."
"One of the things we've been wanting to do is to be able to automate off of different highlighted messages without actually knowing what the message is."
"Some of the command sequences are too long."
"It definitely needs more web-based interface, to be more mobile-open. More APIs, more open source to it."
"It needs to have more compatibility/interfaces to other vendors’ products."
"It’s a complex product. The initial installation is easy, but implementing various functions is a constant process."
"The only issue we have is when we try to integrate with common services."
"The interfaces to USS, CA UIM could be better."
