Remote access has cut critical issue resolution time and supports faster production troubleshooting
Perhaps on the UI side of TeamViewer because we are connecting to different remote desktop connections or remote server connections. Whenever we are working on one of the production issues and we open multiple connections, it is very hectic or confusing to jump from one server to another server. Perhaps on the UI side, if they can improve something related to the view sessions or which session is connected to which remote server, that would be helpful. Perhaps something related to the authentication because it should have a proper authentication mechanism. Every developer should not access TeamViewer or the remote desktop by using TeamViewer. We always have a proper authentication or multifactor authentication mechanism in place, so only those on on-call support or P1 support at that time can access the remote server, but not anyone else. I chose nine out of 10 because sometimes we face the session timeout issue. Suppose during the production support, we connect to one of the remote servers, and if it is idle for approximately 10 or 15 minutes, the session timeout happens. We have to follow the same authentication mechanism to connect to the remote server again. During the session timeout, it delays our process or the troubleshooting steps, which is the reason I have given nine out of 10 instead of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is very easy to jump from one communication channel to another one. It is pretty clear and very easy to do. That is the thing that I like the most from Avaya and their suite."
"I like the share information function."
"We use the solution for team collaboration, document sharing, and video conferencing services. It integrates well with on-premises video conferencing systems and supports chatting through text messaging and instant messaging."
"In terms of functionality, it has some interesting features that I haven't seen in other solutions like content rewind where you can see content from the beginning of the meeting even though you weren't there when it commenced."
"I can say firsthand that the reason we work with Avaya as a user and as a business partner is because it's by far the most stable and scalable platform among unified communications platforms in the market."
"Interesting collaboration features."
"The real-time access has been excellent."
"I have never had to contact customer support for any connection issues."
"I would happily recommend this product for both personal and commercial reasons because of its price and also because of its ease of use."
"TeamViewer is useful for accessing data and systems remotely, and using this application, I can access other computers using an ID number that I provide to the users whose laptop I would like to access."
"Ease of use was the number-one thing. It's an industry leader for ease of use, specifically on the client-side, which is the absolutely critical thing. If I want to connect to somebody, how easily can I — without seeing their computer — walk them through the steps to install it to a point where I can key in the code and help them resolve their situation?... TeamViewer is just a dead-solid, easy answer."
"The best feature is the remote access and being able to control another person's computer when you're showing them something, or teaching them how to do something during training, or fixing a problem they're having."
"Over the past six months, we have probably saved several thousand dollars just in the cost of either my boss or me having to go up there."
"It is quite simple to set up."

Cons

"The installation could be more straightforward. I would like it to work with other meeting software in the next release."
"Unfortunately, the video conferencing, both audio and video were not as good as Webex or Microsoft."
"There isn't too much information about Avaya solutions and that could be very much improved. If you want some product support, you have to go through a business partner in Latin America and there aren't many partners."
"Increase in participant numbers reduces quality of video and sound."
"Avaya IX Meetings' deployment is complex."
"Support for mobile devices from Linux has been missing since the Native client was rolled out. This was a nice option, especially when trying to walk somebody who was struggling to understand something on their phone."
"In a future release of TeamViewer, they should improve password access."
"Sometimes when I am in a low network area, I face issues with connectivity while using TeamViewer, so definitely in that scenario, it should operate better over low networks."
"I believe the graphical resolutions can be improved on the product, as apart from this, the product is very easy to use and easy on the eye."
"We have a consultant that helps us do the virtual aspects of TeamViewer."
"ITBrain should be embedded in the product and not an expensive add-on."
"The product could be less expensive."
"Considering the earlier versions of the product, I think TeamViewer used to slow down the systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I'm using a subscription. The price is reasonable. It costs about $20 a year."
"Avaya IX Meetings' licensing costs are monthly."
"I used the free version of TeamViewer."
"The cost is in the thousands of dollars per year."
"We are using the free version of TeamViewer."
"We are using the standard free version of TeamViewer."
"TeamViewer's price is cheaper than some other similar solutions. We have licenses for our users."
"I rate pricing a ten on a scale from one to ten, where one is low and ten is high. There are no additional costs attached to the licensing of the solution."
"We are not using the solution for commercial use therefore it is free to use."
"TeamViewer was willing to give us a one-year package. Whereas, a lot of the other companies that we explored were paid by the month or quarter. It's just easier for our finance people at the college if we can make a one-time yearly payment."
