Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

The solution is stable and has good support, but is expensive
Betty Blocks, when I started with it, was similar to a back-end platform with the ability to have a standardized back-office UI out of the box, which is perfect for a lot of situations. For more customer-facing UIs, we had to create the front end ourselves, building endpoints with HTML and JavaScript. Then Betty Blocks started in 2018 with the page builder. This allowed us to create drag-and-drop interfaces. That was quite cumbersome. Now Betty Blocks is entering a new generation of it - next generation forms - which should be a lot better. The most valuable feature is the back end. The way we can create action flows for things such as sending emails, creating PDF reports, or connecting to web services is very complete. I never experience a lack of functionality in it. The standardized back-office UI is said to be deprecated over time, which is a shame, because it is a real time-saver and is one of their strong points, only if it was kept up-to-date.

Has helped me create clean and structured process maps with a simple setup experience
I have not explored ways Bizagi can be improved beyond creating maps. If I explore automation and integration with other processes, then I may be able to identify potential areas for improvement. I would appreciate additional features for the free version. Currently, the elements in a process map are limited to activities, decisions, flows, and start/end points. The decision map could be improved to allow more than three options at a decision point.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has helped us relieve the workload on our human workforce and thus ensures that they remain productive and motivated at all times thus work efficiently."
"Automation Anywhere has transformed the financial, healthcare, and automobile sectors to a great extent by automating backend office work."
"My clients have seen ROI, as what would take them two to three days in work is now taking them two to three hours."
"Now, with the help of Automation Anywhere Bot it's being handle automatically, and work that would take one week is now being completed within an hour."
"The integrations with the OCR engines in Automation Anywhere are quite powerful, and they have helped us in many projects."
"For the tasks that I do repeatedly, I can record processes using Automation Anywhere. I record mouse and keyboard actions and create a workflow for those activities. This minimizes my workload. The recording option is very useful."
"The features are pretty easy to use, like the drag and drop feature. It is easy and understand, even a layman knows how the application works. All the basic stuff can be done by anybody."
"The most valuable feature is the object cloning."
"All these components are separately tuneable, which makes it a very strong platform, and we believe that this should be considered in the enterprise market."
"The most valuable feature is the back end."
"Bizagi is simple, it's simple to implement, and it's simple to learn."
"The API is pretty straightforward."
"The amount of control that this solution provides is great."
"I am a BPM consultant, and I have found that Bizagi's platform enables me to please my clients expectations."
"The free online Help and E-Learning is very strong."
"My favorite part about Bizagi is that I think it has nice UI; it is a comfortable environment for users."
"The solution offers a free version of their product."
"What I like about Bizagi is you just add data, you say this user is using this in the flow chart, and then you add some forms."

Cons

"Regarding the UI, once you're in some of the screens there are fixed dialogues. They are a set size, so there's a lot of horizontal scrolls and vertical scrolls."
"If you are not on-premise, then you will need to have Citrix automation."
"Automation Anywhere is headed in the right direction but they still have a good way to go."
"The stability of this solution depends on the processes, but I think that there is room for improvement in this regard."
"Attended automation sometimes might go into exceptions, thus we need to monitor it in-between, then check whether it is working properly. This way, we ensure the bot is working properly."
"With Citrix, we need a dedicated server to work with it. This has become complicated, as it is not easy to pull all the systems together into one place. It would be better if the Automation Anywhere team could make this easy and simple."
"The product should improve on Voice Recognition and IoT pretty soon, as this is the next big thing in and I would like to see this upgraded in the next release."
"They should make the product smarter. The bot we use right now is kind of fundamentally basic loop-based. We really want to see a little bit more advanced capability, that way we can undertake more comprehensive tasks."
"I would like to see full integration with AI."
"What I find lacking in the software is its ability to query the database."
"In many cases, they make choices where flexibility is a little bit degraded, but if you leave everything open and the flexibility is great then the usability is a little bit less."
"Can be difficult for new users."
"The solution is a bit heavy on resources and has slowed down my computer."
"Bizagi needs a way to define categories such as process groups like the APQC framework, PCF, and handle the processes within it."
"Cloud support for their process mapping tool could be better."
"It would be useful if we can connect Bizagi to other solutions, such as a local financial solution or Power BI. It would also be good and helpful to be able to connect Bizagi to some services solutions. It should also support right-to-left languages, such as Arabic."
"Framework approach, which extends to reusability in tools, like Pega, for deployment management could be improved."
"Sometimes it requests me to update Bizagi and it takes some time working on it."
"Their multi-production is a little complicated, despite the fact that they now have Microdeployment."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing for Automation Anywhere (AA) is paid on a yearly basis. Out of all the RPA tools, it has the most value for money, e.g. what you pay is what you get."
"Automation Anywhere offers a subscription-based licensing model for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployments."
"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"I advise others that even as of right now, the setup cost and licensing cost to automate bots on Automation Anywhere is steep but it is worth the investment!"
"Because it reduced the time duration of our processes, our costs went down."
"Cost-wise, it is fine. A lot of medium businesses prefer Automation Anywhere. The development cost is also lower."
"With the rebate processing automation that we did, it has provided us a savings of around an hour or two a person on a daily basis, which is quite a lot of savings."
"In terms of pricing, it's not at all cheap, and that's a concern. The licensing cost is very high. While I don't know the exact prices of other tools, Microsoft offers the lowest pricing for its RPA platform compared to UiPath and Automation Anywhere."
"The pricing structure that we have been working with was based on a number of blocks."
"The pricing is quite high, but the pricing is also not very transparent."
"We didn't use the licensed versions where you could exactly go into automatization. However, we looked at the pricing in the beginning, and the only thing that I remember is that it was too expensive for the things we were using because our clients would also have to license the product. One client said that it was too expensive for the benefit they get out of it."
"For the prices, we didn't try a negotiations about licensing or pricing, but if i can say a word about this, I find Bizagi prices to be well thought out."
"It has a very high price. Many clients complain about the price for maintaining the application on Bizagi."
"The modeling part of the software is free. Most of the time, it is used for this purpose."
"Bizagi is totally free for modeling."
"If they can freeze the pricing in a contract, I advise them to do so."
"We have no issues with the pricing."
"This is a free solution."
