Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The graphic display that shows the variables in the time is very intuitive and almost everyone is able to obtain useful information."
"The incidences raised by end users for application performance-related issues decreased from 1700 per quarter to 250 per quarter."
"Our organization has over 21,000 agents running, and being able to monitor all those agents at the same time, with the ability to be alerted when thresholds are exceeded, means we can know when we are having problems without having dedicated people to watch monitoring screens all the time."
"Standard available reports provide us with an automatic insight into the top ten situations to watch. It would have been extremely difficult to program such a report ourselves, and to my knowledge no other competitor can match this functionality."
"Crash analytics goes down to the level of code you need to check."
"One of the great features of CA APM is the analysis of application performance problems."
"I have no specific advice except that it is a wise choice."
"The insight it gives into the applications that it's actually applied to, and the flexibility to do many things with those metrics, and also feed your own metrics from external sources."
"We have a very good and long relationship with ManageEngine support guys, and they provide very good support for us."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to be able to monitor Kubernetes."
"Depending on the size of the environment, this is a solution that I recommend."
"The anomaly detection feature helps with maintaining the system's health. It is regarding our IT incident center."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to be able to monitor Kubernetes."
"What I like most about ManageEngine Applications Manager is its price point, apart from its technicalities. The solution is cheaper than its competitors. ManageEngine Applications Manager has helpful documentation that makes setting it up straightforward."
"The feature that I have found most valuable in ManageEngine Applications Manager is its dashboard."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager maintains the historical data and it's easy for us to analyze the trends and patterns and fix them accordingly."

Cons

"I would like the ability to see a full end-to-end path of a transaction."
"Right now, if I need to run some reports, I need to run some manual queries, which is very time consuming."
"Out-of-the-box report templates need to be incorporated."
"It would be very helpful to have transaction insights with a more transparent configuration."
"The cost of licensing of the product could be better."
"The support could be better. It is difficult to access the right person, and incidents sometimes need escalation."
"Stability could actually be helped because it is a wrapper or an agent on our system. If we are having a bad day in production or if other resources are being utilized, then we will get gaps in our monitoring system."
"The APM SQL feature doesn't perform like we would like it to, and we actually have some open cases that are working through that."
"I would like the solution to improve the ability to track services."
"It can’t be configured to store APM Insight data for more than one month."
"The integration process with third party tools poses some challenges; enhancing the robustness of these integrations could greatly improve overall functionality and user experience."
"At the moment, we are not finding this solution to be very stable. We've had a lot of calls with the vendor to sort things out."
"The inventory of assets needs improvement."
"More modem support for SMS feature."
"The dashboards in the interface need a lot of work."
"Even with the top-notch dashboard, it could be made stronger in order to have an additional plug-in for analytics."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On pricing, CA is very competitive. I think that's going to help in the long run."

"Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
"There is some research needed to determine licensing costs, based on the number of DataPower instances for the Nastel agent, for example."

"Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
"Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager has reasonable pricing. It's more affordable than other solutions in the market. My company has an instance-based license for ManageEngine Applications Manager.
