Supports long-running asynchronous processes effectively but has not evolved much in recent years
I think Camunda is focusing too much on the SaaS offering right now and not much on improving and developing the product itself. I did not see any innovations on that aspect, especially for the open-source version. I was making some tests recently and the tool seemed pretty much the same as it was three or four years ago. Since they made the move to cloud deployment in a more SaaS-oriented way, they do not invest too much in the community version. To be honest, it did not change much from the Activiti initial version. Activiti was pretty much what Camunda is today. They invested a lot on Zeebe and made it the engine for their SaaS cloud version. Camunda itself, the embedded engine, did not evolve too much. They could invest more on that.

Has helped orchestrate processes and integrate workflows across cloud environments
I recommend ServiceNow Orchestration for larger companies because they have the capability to manage complex environments where it performs better. I promote low-code solutions for these implementations. I don't currently have an idea regarding the pre-built integrations of ServiceNow Orchestration, but I plan to check my area to determine what added value it can bring. I would rate this solution a nine overall.

Pros

"It's user friendly, much better than most tools I have seen."
"Even in the community versions the product is very stable and with excellent scalability results."
"It allows me to present or to demonstrate the business process flow, visually, without having to resort to PowerPoint, Visio, or other products, and I can convert it into a real process once it is validated visually by the business people."
"It is a scalable product. I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten."
"Provides an easy way to integrate with the architectural environment."
"It is very user-friendly compared to IBM BPM. It's much simpler – it's more streamlined. That means even non-technical departments can use it."
"We chose to use Camunda because it's open-source, easy to develop, and scalable, plus we were able to develop some of the enterprise features offered with the license in-house only."
"The most valuable feature is the scheduling."
"It's scalable."
"The solution effectively automates business processes."
"The product has a flexible interface for development."
"I would recommend ServiceNow Orchestration, and I consider it the best product in its domain in the market now."
"I use it to orchestrate processes and integration features to gather and update data during specified timeframes or exchange data in real-time when changes occur based on certain criteria."
"The data visualization is good."
"The iTerm suite is also crucial for visibility and optimization."
"Orchestration is commonly utilized by major corporations. The process of linking methods in ServiceNow, known as the RTS chain to parent methods, is executed seamlessly and efficiently. It's quite impressive and significant in its impact."

Cons

"The deployment model could be improved for easier implementation. More open documentation would be beneficial to understand the deployment process better and facilitate easier setup."
"I would like to see better pricing."
"Some BPM standard functionalities are not yet supported in Camunda and they can really cause serious problems for implementers."
"They could provide more documentation regarding the integration of different programming languages."
"I would like to see the forms engine available in the open-source version of this solution."
"The solution's initial setup has a medium level of difficulty. Maybe someone who is starting out and doesn't have any experience with any other framework may get into some headaches."
"When you have a lot of processes running, it becomes very expensive very quickly."
"Camunda Platform's customer support could be improved because their response is quite slow."
"The only challenge I see is it requires a lot of technical expertise to implement these tools and modules and all those things."
"If I compare the interface of ServiceNow Orchestration with Boomi, it is easier to use Boomi than ServiceNow Orchestration."
"The connectors need to be updated because certain connectors for third-party tools are not up to date, and our customers are having problems synchronizing data with some of these tools."
"The third-party integrations are challenging when the tools are not from ServiceNow partners. This presents issues when integrating solutions from other vendors."
"ServiceNow Orchestration needs to improve multiple aspects in which their event monitoring system is one. The solution lacks event monitoring systems which makes them non-competitive. They need to include improvements in a similar manner that they did in Sweden."
"It is a highly complex platform to work on."
"We have found some gaps in integration because all of our customers require niche tools."
"The flow rate for releases and updates is very, very slow and does not meet customers' objectives for scalability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Camunda is much cheaper."
"Camunda has a free service as well as a commercial service. We are using the free service."
"We are using the open-source version of this solution."
"Camunda Platform is an open-source product."
"It is less cost-prohibitive than other solutions on the market. This solution was in our price range."
"I tried to get some information about buying the license for the solution, but I found it kind of hard to understand the business model."
"Cheaper licensing and resources than competitors"
"Its price is decent. Everything is included in the license. The Community version is also good to start with. We are using the Community version."
"The solution is costly and orchestrations are very expensive."
"The cost of the solution is based on the number of plugins, conductors and integrations used and is charged annually. The licensing cause has been increasing gradually which makes it difficult to access. Initially offer free features but over the time the charges rise which make it an expensive solution with limited features. Along with that, the integration issues persist and require additional middle where and internet connectivity for effective usage."
"Pricing is custom to every customer."
"It is not very expensive."
"It is quite expensive because we've had some customers come back and say it's quite pricey because in order for them to go ahead with Orchestration, they must have already been paying for Discovery, service mapping, and a few other things."
"In terms of price, this solution is at the higher end of what you'll find."
"This is an expensive product, but it is the best in the market considering the features and lack of competitors."
"ServiceNow doesn't give a clear cost indication. They have different contracts with different organizations and it's all about negotiation, so you don't know how they are doing at the cost level."
