Accessible from anywhere without the requirement to purchase hardware
We are customers of Carbonite Backup and I'm the company IT manager The fact that we don't need to purchase any hardware is a huge benefit. It also means we can have access from anywhere.  I think they could implement some new functionalities and I'd like to see some better training provided,…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The fact that we don't need to purchase any hardware is a huge benefit."
"The flexibility is the most valuable feature; it is an all-in-one solution for all kinds of infrastructure (physical, cloud, VM)."
"It is a powerful software for communicating with the storage and for redundancy."
"Veeam Backup and Replication literally saved our business."
"It's streamlined the backup and recovery for my customers in the sense that it has an easy management console that's easy to set up any type of instant recovery."
"Replication Job base on a source HPE Catalyst store to perform a full reconstruction of our production systems on our third datacenter, which is our DRP Site."
"The solution's interface, GUI (graphical user interface), and backup are good."
"My advice to others is Veeam Backup Replication is a good solution."
"The most valuable feature is that I can back up the whole machine and then restore it relatively fast."

Cons

"Lacks sufficient documentation or training videos."
"I think they could implement some new functionalities and I'd like to see some better training provided, whether it's documentation or training videos."
"The solution could improve by having a version to be compatible with the Linux system. They have improved the storage depository using the Linux proxy and Linux storage, but it can completely run on the Linux environment it would be much better."
"Veeam One has its ransomware monitoring, but it's based on static parameters."
"All our customers would like a cheaper license and more flexible deployment."
"There is a limitation on the bare metal backup."
"I thought that having a Windows machine running this was not the best for security."
"A different kind of scheduling. We would like to do backup twice a day."
"I would like to have them come up with more robust features when it comes to individual endpoint protection."
"We would like to see support for some additional storage systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Veeam Data Platform's pricing is affordable."
"We use the community edition of the Veeam Backup Replication and it is a software-based license. It can be a little expensive."
"Veeam has a ten-license package gives you two physical and two virtual servers you can use on any endpoint."
"They have a free edition that can back up up to 10 VMs or physical servers. Small and medium businesses can use this edition until they can afford to get a license, and after they get a license, they just activate it on the same console. That's the amazing thing about it."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable. It is not inexpensive nor is it expensive, it is in the middle range compared to other solutions. There can be additional costs for addons."
"I consider that the product's price falls under the middle range category."
"Customers require a perpetual license for the product. However, along with the license, they must also subscribe to the support service for one year or three years under a separate contract."
"Its price is reasonable for a big company or a big client. It is not too much. It is cheaper than VMware."
