Automated backups have transformed our multi-account recovery and now streamline compliance reporting
While N2WS has served us well, there are areas for improvement. The user interface feels somewhat dated and could benefit from modernization. Navigation between sections could be more intuitive, and the dashboard design could be more streamlined compared to contemporary AWS tools. The initial setup process has a steeper learning curve than we’d prefer, especially for complex multi-account configurations. More guided setup wizards would help new team members get up to speed faster. Reporting capabilities could be more granular, particularly around cost optimization metrics and backup performance analytics. Currently, we need to gather information from multiple screens to get comprehensive insights. For future releases, we’d value enhanced integration with AWS native services like Config and CloudTrail for better compliance reporting. More advanced scheduling options that adjust based on application load would also be beneficial. Better support for newer AWS services as they’re released would help us maintain comprehensive coverage as our infrastructure evolves. Additionally, native integration with popular ITSM tools beyond email notifications would improve our workflow automation.

Pros

"Dell RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots."
"The installation is straightforward if the version you have is compatible with your infrastructure."
"Point-in-time recovery and ease of deployment are valuable."
"The most valuable feature is that it is journal-based and you don't have to replicate a lot of data."
"The solution is quite stable. We haven't experienced any kind of bug or glitch. We haven't experienced crashes."
"Continuous replication with lower RTO and RPO is the most innovative feature. Its tight integration with VMware for VMware VMs is also valuable."
"RecoverPoint replicates workloads fast."
"The generalization of the journals allows us to go back in time and choose the snapshot suitable for us. We can grab it as needed."
"The backup and recovery are the most valuable features. So, our developers can work with confidence."
"It is an easy-to-use tool, easy to install, very intuitive, and saves time."
"We had a ransomware event in 2023, and we were able to recover every machine with minimal effort."
"A recovery process that had previously taken a team of engineers the better part of a day was successfully completed in under an hour."
"N2WS is a powerful solution with a rich set of features designed to address even the most complex backup and disaster recovery requirements."
"N2W has positively impacted our organization by allowing us to conduct recovery drills and share information with our customers about our improvements."
"N2W has significantly improved our operational efficiency and our confidence in our business continuity plan."
"This is one of the most stable products that I have ever seen."

Cons

"This product is not as easy to use as some other solutions."
"Although we can change the IP address, it would be good to have some other sort of orchestration to make life easier to manage when we failover."
"It would be good to have a critical application on the customer side."
"It should have features for recovering a group of virtual machines and full-scale security. For recovering all the VMs at once, they don't have a GUI option, and we have to use the command line."
"I would like to see integration with EMC NetWorker in the next release."
"It can have better integration. It would be good if, in addition to VMware VM, it can also support other hypervisors. I also want to see support for Oracle databases. As of now, it supports only SQL and Exchange. It would be good to also support other databases."
"There is a problem with the solution's architecture. First of all, it requires double the resources on the virtual environment to set up one environment."
"The price of this product could be lower."
"Deployment is one area that could use improvement."
"I would like to see native support for more AWS services beyond EC2 and EBS, such as full coverage of RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift."
"The user interface feels somewhat dated and could benefit from modernization."
"The only challenges we have because we are enterprise level and have so many accounts is that the rollout of the new JSON scripts that come out when you upgrade sometimes can be a little tedious."
"Improved disaster recovery options and expanded multicloud support are two areas where N2WS has already made significant advancements in the latest version."
"More documentation would be helpful, especially some step-by-step documents for recovery scenarios."
"There is room for improvement in stability."
"Additional features I would like to see are the ability to restore to different vendors, AWS and Azure, and/or the ability or take the information out of the AWS cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license required for this solution and the pricing depends on how many virtual machines you have."
"The tool is expensive. If one means cheaply priced and ten means expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven."
"This is an expensive product."
"It was a part of a backup solution. So, it was free for us."
"This is not a very cheap solution and compared to others, it is expensive."
"Pricing-wise, it is pretty much fair for any customer who only has a VMware environment. Licensing is based on the number of VMs that you want to protect at any given point in time. Licensing is not based on size."
"The price is not cheap, nor is it costly."
"It has very good pricing per instance and comes with three options, for both small and large environments, to fit your needs."
"AWS adds more features and offer things for free, or cheaply. Therefore, we will be evaluating AWS Data Lifecycle Manager, because it will probably do backups. Thus, make sure the product that you are using is competitive or adds more value than AWS."
"The pricing and licensing on AWS is fine, because you can do it for smaller tiers depending on your number of instances, so it's not that scary."
"It's very economical and worth the cost."
"The purchasing process through the AWS Marketplace is easy. Just click the button."
