Have improved workflow efficiency through custom reports but encountered formatting limitations
The downsides of Domo are that we don't have a feature in the same column. When data comes in a time format, text format, and number format, we cannot segregate and create conditional formatting in that column. If in the future they develop this feature, it will benefit more users. Domo requires maintenance on my end, such as updates. I am maintaining some dashboards on a weekly basis and monthly basis daily reports. Because we need to upload in SFTP, we cannot schedule or auto-schedule due to rate purposes. We manually handle the data sets. If there were an option to reduce the cost, it would be easier to access.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It produces the best output."
"Data is much more accessible throughout the organization."
"We find the ease of using the solution valuable."
"With Domo, we can do everything in one place; we don't need a separate database, we can do ETL and the visualization in one location, it is completely cloud-based, and since we are a healthcare provider, we chose the secure PSI-certified instance of the public cloud."
"What I appreciate most about Domo is that it's the simplest visualization tool, not complex at all, and it has a very simple interface making it easier for teams to adopt."
"The one thing that stands out in case of Domo is that you have everything under the same tool; you don't have to log in into any particular cloud services to have access to that platform as it's just a web-hosted platform and everything related to data engineering, data science, ETL, everything comes under the same umbrella."
"The fact that you can add any data source is valuable. The entire data handling suite they have, all the apps, etc., is pretty amazing. One of the key things, not being a techie or a data-warehouse guy, is that you can connect data sources, and do all kinds of pretty amazing things."
"It has the best GUI. And it already has an ETL tool embedded in it..."
"It reduces time to reproduce reports, provides easy access to organisational data, and has the ability to generate a wide range of reports and analysis."
"It is able to create information dashboards for various users' throughout."
"Yellowfin doesn’t try to do everything – it is a BI presentation and communication tool, and it does it brilliantly."
"It is a central source of up-to-date data and information."

Cons

"Domo has moved to a consumption pricing model, which can be both advantageous and challenging."
"I would like to be able to drill down more when there is a particular area where there is a problem. I don't clearly see that in Domo at the moment."
"Domo as a solution can be improved in various ways."
"When you're exporting a graph out of Domo — suppose it is in the form of a donut chart or it is in form of a stack — the data comes out in tabular format, not as a graph. When exporting the data, I would like them to create a tab for graphs and another tab with the data in tabular format."
"In terms of the analytics, there is quite a limited set of options when using Domo. Whereas with Tableau we can perform heavy statistical computations, Domo doesn't have that capability. Domo is quite limited on that side."
"One of the biggest problems is that end users require a license to run their own reports and dashboards, which are fairly expensive."
"It is expensive."
"They could use more charts. They have had a very limited number of charts we can use. I believe, now, there are somewhere around 30 of them, but they could definitely use some more options."
"It needs more presentation/charting capabilities and integration with GIS."
"The first release was a bit buggy, but they seem to have gotten on top of that very quickly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For about 100 users our cost is $95,800."
"I'm not sure about pricing, but I believe Domo is quite costly. Prior to joining this organization, I had a Domo license with my former employer and I think that license was around $500 to $600 annually. That was for a single license. I think it varies, depending on the organization that is acquiring Domo."
"The pricing differs from customer to customer, depending on the package."
"It is on the pricier end."
"The price that they offered was around $200 per user license. It was pretty cheap at that time compared to other companies. I think they have revamped their pricing structure since then."
"Domo is slightly costly but it's much cheaper than some."
"Because it's software as a service, it's more expensive on the face of it. But there are a lot of variables. I don't have to pay for servers or for infrastructure. I don't have to pay labor for my IT organization to set up or maintain the environment. I don't have to pay for them to upgrade the software, and test it, etc., because when it rolls out, it is transparent and seamless for us. But, because of that, it costs more, I imagine, than Sisense, or Yellowfin, or Power BI. A lot of those make it sound like they're inexpensive, but when you add in all the hidden costs and all of the overhead, it's probably comparable."
"I think it is reasonable."
