Cloud backup has reduced storage costs and now delivers fast, reliable data recovery
My overall experience in this field is seven years. The deployment model I have chosen for Druva Phoenix is mostly cloud-based backup. Government authorities and government customers majorly opt for on-premises deployment, but we have a very limited customer segment from that area. Druva Phoenix primarily operates on a private cloud, with some customers utilizing hybrid cloud solutions. If I assess the effectiveness of backup features in Druva Phoenix, particularly in minimizing operational disruptions, I would rate it as a very strong 9 or 9.5 on a scale of 10. I am not using Druva Data Security Cloud. My overall review rating for Druva Phoenix is 9.

Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Pros

"It's patch-based, so you don't have to bother about the backup server or the repository."
"I found the cost-effectiveness of Druva Phoenix to be its most valuable feature, especially when compared to on-premises backup solutions."
"Druva Phoenix provides a return on investment and operational cost reductions after implementation."
"Once you set it up and you tell it exactly what needs to be backed up, you literally forget about it. It sends you emails and notifications of the current status of the jobs."
"Druva Phoenix is easy to use and easy to start with."
"The most valuable features of Druva Phoenix are the simple portal to log in and flexibility."
"One of the best features in Druva Phoenix for me personally is that it is an air-gapped environment, where you can keep cloud backup on a separate air-gapped environment and save from any kind of ransomware attack, and it is a ransomware safer environment because a customer gets a separate environment."
"The best features of Druva Phoenix include comprehensive backup capabilities where you can back up your data with agent plus backup, deploy the proxy, and integrate your VMs to take your backup."
"The scalability of Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is very good."
"It has got all the features. You can restore a mailbox based on an email or a calendar or based on all the emails. A user can also get access to restore the mailbox."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is the WAN accelerator. This feature allows for large amounts of data from one location to another. If the bandwidth in the environment is slow it makes the transfer slow but the WAN accelerator feature helps speed the transfer."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Backup for Office 365 are the ease of use and instant back and restore."
"It was easy to set up."
"The feature that I like the most is the system backup recovery from OneDrive."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is the ease of use. You only need to create a folder in your drive and it's as simple as dragging and dropping files to store them."
"The solution provides good backup services for Microsoft 365."

Cons

"Druva Phoenix is optimized to work with x86 platforms, making it unsuitable for backing up non-x86 architectures like AIX. The solution is primarily designed for physical Linux and Windows systems based on the x86 architecture, as well as virtualized Windows and Linux environments. However, if you have an AIX system, it cannot be deployed in the cloud, and therefore, backing it up in the cloud is not a concern."
"They were able to give us a very reasonable price considering we were non-for-profit organizations, however, there is always room for improvement on that cost."
"The product's pricing needs to be improved."
"Druva Phoenix should include a few reporting features that it doesn't provide currently."
"The ransomware features are limited in Druva. There's a lot of improvement needed. It should extend to Nutanix and Hyper-V. It should extend to Azure as well."
"They were very much responsive a few years back, but in the last one or two years, I believe the responsiveness has gone down."
"Deploying it in a hybrid cloud model involves some minor complexities, though nothing represents a significant challenge."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect of Druva Phoenix."
"While Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is a highly convenient product, there is room for improvement in its integration with Microsoft 365."
"The customer service and support response time can be improved."
"We attempted to use it for our DRP, however, we found it too expensive and complex, so we decided to use it just for backup."
"When you are working in the Cloud security is very important."
"This is a cloud solution, and the speed can be slow sometimes."
"The product cannot back up Active Directory objects while its competitors can. Self-service power enables us to deal with service providers. We provide services for our clients, so having a multi-tenant service portal would be good."
"The solution needs to improve its speed."
"Some additional training materials would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We’ve had experience with the data center for a while and we have had solutions that were able to support older versions of the operating systems that we needed. I would like for Druva to support it as well."
"It's very costly. Normal people wouldn't understand how their credits are calculated. It's pretty complex."
"Druva Phoenix's pricing is based on the service provided, and it's reasonable. The cost of the service will depend on the size of your data and the number of virtual machines being backed up. However, the pricing structure is straightforward and easy to understand."
"I assume clients use Druva Phoenix because it is cheaper than other products."
"I have a per-user license for the number of users and the mailboxes that I have."
"The cost is a bit on the high side."
"Its cost is pretty high. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 is a subscription-based solution."
"The solution is not expensive."
"We decided on Altaro because, from the point of view of the total cost, Altaro looks cheaper than Veeam. Veeam has a lot of costs that are not clear when you start it, which makes it less flexible than Altaro, but only after half a year, you can be really sure that you made a good decision."
"Its price is a little bit high, but it is a fantastic solution. It is more expensive than NetApp."
"Veaam Backup is licensed per mailbox, which customers like because it's per user and so they don't have to pay for shared mailboxes."
