Enables efficient finance and maintenance management with real-time data and strong integration
The integration between plant maintenance, stores, and financials is highly valued by my customers in the refinery business, as it allows for efficient maintenance processes and easily accessible financial information. Additionally, the mobile features are beneficial as they allow managers to approve or reject orders on the go. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne provides real-time data, which is very timely for decision-making. Managers have dashboards created for them that are readily updated for insightful information. This reflects the improved business intelligence features of the solution.

Offers great integration capabilities and allows just the real-time inventory
Dynamics GP improves inventory management by offering real-time inventory tracking, and automated purchase order creation, receiving, and updating inventory levels. It facilitates site-to-site transfers and allocation tracking, enabling efficient stock management across locations. The integration capability of Dynamics GP, combined with Power Platform, has transformed our business processes. We now use PowerApps to enable salesmen to send orders electronically, eliminating the need for order books. Additionally, we developed HR apps to streamline tasks for our staff, leading to automated processes and improved efficiency. Our experience with Dynamics GP reporting and analytics features, particularly Advanced Analysis, has been great. We utilize customized smart lists for purchasing and other functions, allowing for tailored insights over specific periods. Additionally, we have developed custom dashboards for enhanced visibility and support portal integration. I wouldn't recommend Dynamics GP due to its legacy status and impending end of support. However, if integration with the Power Platform is crucial and the company prioritizes modernization, it could still be a viable option. For new companies, I would suggest considering Dynamics 365 Business Central for a more modern solution. Overall, I would rate Dynamics GP as a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The product can scale."
"The product has been stable so far."
"The navigation interface is user-friendly and easy to understand for any user. Many new employees who have joined our organization from different companies, having worked with SAP and Oracle E-Business Suite, have given positive feedback about JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. They particularly appreciate the types of reports, MIS capabilities, and how quickly and easily they can extract data. According to senior management from other organizations, these features are faster, easier, and more convenient than SAP."
"It is very straightforward to deploy and set up."
"The financial management features are convenient and helpful in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne."
"JD Edwards is highly scalable and suitable for both small teams and large enterprises with hundreds of users."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is perfect for our reporting for the management, workflow, and procurement workflow."
"The most valuable feature is the user experience, where you can create your own queries, it sends you alerts, and it's very flexible."
"It is a tried and tested ERP system which if used correctly, is definitely a very good program for managing all aspects of a business from customer sales, and receivables management, to payable management and finance reporting. So, it's super critical for any mid-sized company."
"I haven't used it a lot, but the best thing is that the processes are very detailed."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The solution offers integrations with other software as well. We have integration with Microsoft Office where we can do Word and Excel, etc."
"Snowflake's ability to handle large queries efficiently is very beneficial, unlike other databases which can take a significant amount of time for similar tasks."
"We have gained the capability to control and address various issues within the financial module effectively."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily update and maintain accurate data across all aspects of our operations."
"Snowflake's ability to handle large queries efficiently is very beneficial, unlike other databases which can take a significant amount of time for similar tasks."

Cons

"While it is easy to handle, there is room for improvement compared to more sophisticated ERP systems."
"There is room for improvement on the payroll side, as the solution is not very strong in this area."
"Localization features are critical for all regions. Improving these features in various countries and markets is essential to meet customer needs."
"The product’s pricing should be improved."
"I would like to see the HR features enhanced with respect to localization for South Africa and other countries."
"We originally used EnterpriseOne for preventative maintenance, but it is not very good at that so we migrated to Maximo for that task."
"Something that could be included is a supply chain management system. That's what we're looking for."
"The solution could be easier to implement. However, the complexity was in our internal processes meeting our country's requirements. Every country has a slightly different process, taxation, and rules. That was the difficult part, not the solution itself. I expect our experience would have been more or less the same with any ERP, such as SAP, Navision, or Dynamics."
"As for room for improvement, they have different modules, project and analytical accounting, but it will be good to have that kind of part in the standard package. To have that additional reporting functionality where you can add an attribute or something, which you can report again. So you can analyze the cost by not just natural accounts but also by a project, without having to go through another module edit on top and then the other module edit on top. The more modules you add, sometimes it doesn't work that well. Additionally, it would be easier to have the solution on the cloud. That's our consideration. We are trying to move all our systems to the cloud, and GP is one of them that we are going to move in the next couple of years. I would rate the solution seven or seven point five out of ten."
"Scale is a primary concern. If the product vision continues to serve small and mid-cap companies, they need to continue incorporating features into the out-of-the-box solution because small-caps typically lack budget for in-house IT organizations to customize and maintain systems."
"The biggest problem with GP is that it's not cloud based and it doesn't lend itself to subscription licensing. But Microsoft wants everything in the cloud and licensed on a subscription basis.Even tThough GP can be deployed on a cloud server, but basically, it's a Windows based product. It uses the older model and companies purchase the program and pay a 16-18 sixteen- eighteen percent annual renewal fee but Microsoft wants everybody to pay monthly or annual renewal fees on a subscription basis."
"Many of our customers are migrating to the cloud rather than staying on-premises."
"It still can be improved in web-based and build reporting. "
"At times, navigating the user console can be challenging, particularly when trying to find account information."
"What could be improved is the functionality of Dynamics GP because it requires a lot of development by the programmers and the company in order to integrate into a solution."
"It requires a lot of expertise to implement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is an "arm-and-a-leg". This keeps the customers away from going for J.D. Edwards."
"The price of the solution is not cheap. However, it is priced average amongst competitors."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has a lot of value for the money. The implementation cost and license cost are quite reasonable compared to other solutions, such as Oracle EBS or SAP."
"The maintenance of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is expensive and overall the solution is expensive. Most enterprise operation solution is expensive."
"I rate the tool's pricing a three out of ten."
"There is an annual license for this solution."
"The cost depends on the number of users and the modules required."
"The solution’s pricing depends on the module you’re purchasing."
"In comparison to other ERP systems, the pricing is not necessarily inexpensive, but it can be considered more cost-effective."
"I think the tool is competitively priced and it's more of a one-time investment with a low annual renewal fee."
"We evaluated some local products, because of the pricing, but this product has better features and support."
"I would say that the pricing is moderate, not cheap, and not expensive. There are many more expensive ERPs than GP, and there are less expensive as well, so it is moderately priced."
"For us, in our local currency, it costs us around 5 million Botswanan Pulas a year. It's quite a lot of money."
"The solution's price is steep."
"It is an affordable solution."
"Its pricing and licensing are high. Of course, we all know that it is Microsoft."
