Remote control and massive deployment streamline operations efficiently
It seems that it is a bit difficult to learn and purchase. The requirement for employees to be certified before purchasing is understandable yet can be a hurdle. A focus on more simplicity and user-friendly features would be beneficial. More training deals, up-to-date articles, and improved documentation would help users navigate the solution more intuitively.

A positive aspect of Lansweeper is that they maintain a 30-minute recurring schedule with us for feedback. I have mentioned to the Lansweeper team that I would appreciate a clear separation between computers joined to our on-premise domain and those joined to the Microsoft Entra directory, as this distinction is currently difficult to make. In terms of reporting and knowledge, Lansweeper completely fulfills our needs. The software installation capability is being phased out as they now have the cloud version app, where this ability and Actions have been removed. My experience is primarily with Windows systems in Lansweeper, but it also supports Mac systems. We are currently adding Macs to scanning, though functionality is somewhat limited compared to Windows. It scans servers too, though this isn't the primary focus. Regarding network scanning, there are some security considerations due to specific service or port requirements on switches. For Windows needs in terms of asset management, report creation, and detailed information visibility, it is an excellent product. Building reports is straightforward, and while the database is quite extensive and may require research depending on needs, the information is readily available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We utilize the package management feature the most. We also use it for getting the inventory. Companies like us don't have an inventory or asset management system per se. A lot of companies, for instance, use SCCM as their asset management tool. We are using Quest KACE Asset Management Appliance for asset management, which is a good feature. The feature that I really like is to be able to upgrade to the Windows management systems or Windows version. It is very seamless, and I have found it fairly good."
"Feature-wise, I think it's more to do with the usability. It's pretty simple and it's got a very low learning curve, so that helps a lot. Feature-wise, things work pretty well as it's provided a lot of information available on the guides and the manuals, and things work as per the description."
"The platform offers efficient stability."
"The solution is scalable."
"The ability to work on printers and everything can be done remotely, which enhances functionality."
"We use the solution for IT service desk management and asset management."
"We have a support team here in India that has been helpful. We have not reached out to the global support for Quest KACE Asset Management Appliance."
"For Windows needs in terms of asset management, report creation, and detailed information visibility, it is an excellent product."
"Lansweeper is performing exceptionally; as soon as it detects something on the network, it immediately adds it to Lansweeper, and the connection between the endpoint and the server is doing a really good job."
"The solution has an excellent health status feature and a user-friendly interface that contains all necessary information."
"Lansweeper is very easy to use, and its technical support is very good."
"The benefits I have seen from using Lansweeper at the infrastructure level include licensing and optimization, the cost reduction and elimination of redundant tools reduced our needs, and this was particularly evident in the most recent project."
"A great value is the fact that it supports multiple platforms, and it is agentless. Obviously, it still requires credentials, but being agentless makes it much easier to deploy, especially for a small business. It leaves fewer things to maintain. Especially for a small or medium business, it is a tremendous product."
"Lansweeper was hands down the best tool; it collects every last piece of information we wanted to know about our equipment and has strong reporting capabilities."
"We have seen a return on investment with Lansweeper, as we save time preparing reports for Microsoft, and it has been very useful in terms of cost savings."

Cons

"Quest KACE Asset Management Appliance can improve by incorporating AI and machine learning into the solution."
"Sometimes, it feels like the inventory it takes is not 100% accurate. I would say it is correct 90% of the time. We have had some issues. So, we have to rely on some factors of inconsistency in the data."
"The remote desktop tool they are using needs improvement. They have integrated some third-party tools for remote desktop connections but that is a bit complicated. That can be further simplified."
"The first thing I don't like about KACE is that it needs to have a proper service desk. The categories and the command section do not reflect the users and the permanent users porting commands on updating. There is an issue and delay in loading the commands. We also want a proper structure for infrastructure management. Also, the AI chatbot and user template options are missing."
"Quest KACE Asset Management Appliance could improve areas related to the management of updates, especially concerning new operating systems."
"A focus on more simplicity and user-friendly features would be beneficial."
"The initial setup was burdensome."
"In Lansweeper, reporting has some glitches. Reporting needs to be more customized as per customer requirements."
"For example, Lansweeper can scan 7-Zip version 7.2, but when a new version 7.3 comes out, Lansweeper shows it as new software, requiring us to manually add this software to the whitelist or change it in reports; it should be counted as the previous version."
"I did not use the ITSM tools aspect, which connects to a CMDB, because that was not how I utilized the BMC tool, so I do not have an opinion on how it could be improved."
"It would be beneficial if the solution could show more account-related information, beyond just the main Active Directory user account, and include management capabilities for other account types."
"Lacks an end-to-end asset management tool."
"It would be great if Lansweeper could combine security functions like vulnerability management."
"The feature to deploy software in endpoints needs to be improved."
"I don't have any complaints about it, and I've never really had any issues. It isn't wizard-driven or anything like that, but it doesn't need to be. For someone who is not familiar with system administration, it would be daunting. There would be a lot of info there. They wouldn't necessarily know what to do, but that's not its target audience. For its target audience, in particular, it doesn't need to change. It is really a good tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"It is less expensive as compared to SCCM."
"The product is expensive."
"Quest KACE Asset Management Appliance provides two remote desktop licenses which are helpful. The price of the solution is high, it would be beneficial if it was more flexible and less expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate Lansweeper's pricing a seven out of ten."
"It is not high and it is fair according to the worth it offers."
"The Lansweeper's price has increased and is now on par with or even higher than competitors, it still offers significant value in the area of IT asset management."
"Its cost is terrific. It has a great price and is cost-effective, and the license is free under a hundred nodes. I like the fact that it gets regular updates. Of course, it notifies you of the product and you can patch it and all that, but I like the fact that it is very affordable for the number of nodes. A company with three or four computers doesn't need it, but a company that has dozens or hundreds has to have some kind of governance. It can do everything such as Windows, Linux, and network devices, and the discovery is really intelligent. For example, you'd find smart devices, IOTs, and things like that. I'm very happy with it."
"It actually costs some money in the long run because of the licensing model."
