Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Quicker compared to other bots but not very user-friendly
There is a need for NICE to be more user-friendly. It should be designed in such a way that any developer can easily develop bots. For instance, Power Automate provides a good example of a user-friendly design that NICE can learn from. Moreover, in terms of documentation, there is very little available for NICE, making it challenging to implement the bots. So, documentation should be improved as well. There are a lot of additional features that could be included in NICE. As the NICE Robotic Automation claims, it is a low-code solution, but that is not entirely true. They need to concentrate on the prerequisites and building blocks. There should be more options available internally that are easy to use and well-developed.

Automation has reduced manual reporting tasks and improved delivery speed
Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation has an opportunity to be improved in many ways, especially with AI. I see some improvements there and it can definitely be enhanced. Maybe even leveraging the cloud product rather than having Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation running on your local network would help. Because now you need to connect through a VPN. I understand because organizations don't want to share their data. However, using it as a subscription service can help to connect from anywhere. But then you just need to make sure that the data also complies with the POPI Act and all of those other acts for protecting the data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use IQ Bot for invoice processing. It can be any type of document. It could be a PDF or any sort of document. It will convert those PDFs into CSV files, which is a structured format. It takes it from an unstructured to structured format. That is why we use IQ Bot."
"Even a non-IT or business user can just look at the bot language and understand what the bot is doing, and that's the easy part."
"We are using it for scripting, and it is end user based with screen captures. It is a bit easier to use than any of the other tools out there."
"Basically, to be frank, most of the features are awesome."
"Excel automation is one of the best features in Automation Anywhere. If we have to work with multiple excel sheets with lots of rows and columns, it gets really difficult to keep track of this is done manually. But Automation Anywhere makes it really simple and error-free."
"The digital worker is interesting."
"The ability for it to be able to be scaled rapidly. For us, it has certainly provided a range of flexibility that we hadn't appreciated before we started. This means that in times of high demand for processes to be completed, we're able to quickly scale up on demand. That gives us that additional flexibility without the need to potentially consider contingent labor increases. So, it's sort of a head count avoidance increase. So, that's proved very useful for us."
"Automation is going to become a new area we will certainly encourage a lot of people to pursue because of the lasting dividends it provides, including saving time and manpower."
"The deployment of NICE Robotic Automation is easy."
"In terms of scaling and increasing the impact of automation, our center of excellence has been around for 11 months now, our target for the year was a saving of £2 million and we've just hit £2.4 million, which has given us just over a two-to-one return on investment and, by using that feature-based build that I mentioned earlier, where we take those component parts for login and logout or copy and paste from this spreadsheet to that one, we are forecasting a five-to-one return on investment within the next 24 months."
"Robotic Automation has saved us time and money by moving our processes away from manual work."
"NICE is one of the only vendors that does attended and unattended out-of-the-box. Using the unattended processes we've been able to build a "feature library." We break each process down into workable chunks that we can save into a big library. The next time we come to automate a task, we already have chunks of that automation built."
"It is easy to deploy because the installation packages are very simple and it doesn't require any maintenance."
"It resulted in over £1,000,000 in savings within that first month."
"It is easy to deploy. To do the automation in NICE, you really need to use your programming expertise. There are no inbuilt features in it, and you have to create all the required features, which can be very interesting for a programmer."
"It is a kind of desktop automation; its licensing model is a little bit different, and it tends to be individual automation specific to a role, and it excels at that."
"The automation features of Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation have assisted us to deliver quickly, especially if you have captured everything on ARIS, then you just need to run a report, and some of the elements are automated."

Cons

"I would like the ability to extract the code. You can go line by line, then open up each line of code and dig into the details, but it would be nice to extract all of the lines of code and all of the details into a document so we could read through everything. Right now, there is no way to really consume all of the code at once, except line by line, which can be fairly time consuming if we don't really know what we are looking for."
"The Automation Anywhere Control room component features can be improved, as of now it contains too many roles and rules which makes it confusing to use it."
"When it comes to Citrix automation, AA should improve or add more features in such a way that all the commands should work when automating a Citrix application."
"Although Automation Anywhere is a GUI-based platform with drag-and-drop functionality, non-technical business users struggle to implement it due to the complexities of operationalizing automation within a business context."
"It is not as easy to implement as advertised. It is difficult across the board. It is difficult for technical and non-technical users."
"Compared to other RPA tools, the UI of Automation Anywhere is not that great and is not that easy to pick up for people, which takes more time for a newbie."
"The customer service could be improved."
"My experience has been that if the person who codes the bot is not very well-trained, then they might create unstable bots."
"[During the upgrade] any issues, where it couldn't remotely connect to upgrade, I needed the floor plan so I could go to that PC and have a look at it. Often it was either that the PC was switched off or had a bug or some other application needed to be reset."
"It is a bit clunky; that is the polite way to put it."
"There are a few areas for improvement in the installation phase"
"The solution is not as intuitive as it could be and the integration took a lot of time."
"The one thing I'd like to see, and NICE is already heavily investing in it, is improvement in the user interface itself. They call it the Designer and it's what the developers use. It is a bit clunky; that is the polite way to put it. I'd like to see it be a bit more user-friendly, a bit more intuitive, and to move to something a bit more web-based..."
"We haven't found it to be as powerful as some of the other platforms. From a true RPA perspective, it is pretty far behind some of the other solutions."
"We haven't found it to be as powerful as some of the other platforms. From a true RPA perspective, it is pretty far behind some of the other solutions. It has emerged as a more desktop automation kind of tool, but it lacks a lot of enterprise features. It is not really a true RPA because of its licensing, which is kind of user-initiated. It would be nice it can be deployed at a more enterprise licensing model versus a user-based model. It didn't have autonomous automation so far, and they have just released this feature. They have kind of hodgepodged a bunch of products together to get there, but it is not as seamless as other solutions."
"Its connectivity with other applications should be improved. In the version that I was using, it would just stop interacting with the other application."
"Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation has an opportunity to be improved in many ways, especially with AI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is subscription-based. They have different schemes. The price depends on how you negotiate with the local partner or local representative in your country."
"Additional costs will be for the machines and the number of machines that you are using. You can deploy virtually as well as on physical machines. In both the situations, you do need to allocate a certain budget for securing the machines and where the software will be installed and running. The machines cannot be used for anything else, because only a certain bot can run at a certain time. You need to be very particular about your scheduling of running the bots, and while the bot is running nobody can use the machine. You cannot have an agent working on a machine and the bot running in the background. It has to be completely dedicated. Then there are the network bandwidth requirements and space requirements, which are additional costs apart from the licensing and software costs. The developer is also going to charge you for their coding time too."
"We are restricted to use one license on one PC. However, if my license is not working, I want to be able to use it somewhere else. This would be a nice improvement to the licensing, as other competitors in the market have better licensing terms."
"In most of the cases, the product value is very good. If the infrastructure, implementation, and framework are good, then generally, the client can get a good return on investment."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing is significantly higher than other RPA solutions."
"With the rebate processing automation that we did, it has provided us a savings of around an hour or two a person on a daily basis, which is quite a lot of savings."
"It costs up to $1,200 per license."
"We have a three-year contract with Automation Anywhere."
"As per my understanding, UiPath has a much lesser cost than NICE, but I am not sure."
