Requires little maintenance, is stable, and easy to deploy
Oracle Application Testing Suite can improve by covering more browsers as compared to other solutions because they're considering the Edge browser as well, but the solution is working on different Windows operating platforms. For example, in our current Windows 2012 R2 server, if I want to automate the Edge browser, I need to upgrade that particular Windows to Windows 10.1 or some other Windows platform, because it's not supported in Windows 2012 feature. That is an issue. If cross-browsers can be incorporated, then support should be provided. There should be a single operating system where everything can be incorporated. I have faced issues with some indexing items. For example, the solution is able to derive some properties from the screen, such as button locations or text locations, but there are some elements, for example, unnamed buttons or text, where there is no name or ID or any other identifying information. Indexing doesn't always work, and we have to go to those elements manually and inspect them to determine their class, and then input that information into the system.

Performance testing has delivered diverse global retail loads and generates clear diagnostic reports
I did not notice any weak points or downsides in Tricentis NeoLoad except for the cost. Everything else is good with the tool. When I consider that service customers have to pay the cost for the load generation, I find that the cost increases, especially when I want to generate a load for a global customer with different loads in different regions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is scalable."
"The most valuable feature is the object identification feature."
"I can organize test scripts pretty well."
"Has good automation and load-testing capabilities."
"My advice to others is if they are using any Oracle Cloud Fusion-based or on-premise-based application, this is a good solution to use."
"OATS provides the functionality to institute a corporate-wide standardized method and approach for all types of application testing."
"Overall, since it comes with all the three packages, it's very good."
"The function test feature is valuable."
"It’s a very powerful tool which meets all our load and performance testing requirements, along with very sophisticated monitoring tools and reports."
"I would strongly recommend this tool highly."
"Tricentis NeoLoad is quite easy to use as compared to JMeter."
"The pros outweigh the cons and so NeoLoad is highly recommended over its competitors."
"To give perspective, we went from spending three million dollars to 160 thousand dollars, which is a huge saving and good value."
"The reporting features are great."
"It's user-friendly, and everything is handy, with scripting load testing and everything in a single tool."
"The most valuable feature of Tricentis NeoLoad for us has been its ability to easily monitor all the load generators and configure the dynamics and data rates. Additionally, we can monitor individual loads and data directly within NeoLoad without needing third-party tools."

Cons

"Improvements can be made in a number of protocol support areas, including enhanced Citrix support."
"Lacks patches for new OS systems and doesn't work on a Mac."
"WebForms works fine, but scripting in the EBS forms option isn't very consistent and stable."
"It needs to be compatible with all browsers."
"I would rate their technical support 2.5 out of ten."
"OATS has some promising features that frankly we wish we could utilize, but so far we haven’t had much luck doing so."
"Performance is slow as compared to other tools like QTP."
"Licensing policies could be more intuitive."
"A small number of times, when load testing huge projects with huge number (~10,000) of vUsers, we have seen that it completely froze."
"It needs improvement with post-production."
"We purchased a two-year license but broke the contract after 18 months."
"It's straightforward to install and configure, but complex to convert scripts from a previous product to work in NeoLoad."
"If one person opens any script, another person won't be able to work on it simultaneously. If they can improve that feature, it would be helpful for everyone. I found that incorporating all the scripts into a single project was the challenging part. This is because we are working on different domains—I'm on one domain, and others are on another. We need to handle all these scripts cautiously."
"It would be nice if this could be cheaper."
"Tricentis NeoLoad could improve the range of codeless scripting such as with terminal emulation apps."
"Almost everything about NewLoad looks good, but I would like to have an indication of the variables for error messages appearing in the error tab."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The complete package, including load testing and performance analysis, has a licensing fee."
"ORACLE is giving at a very competitive rates to all its customers, and its a simple licensing process."
"There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"Customers need to negotiate properly to get the tool at a lower price."
"The price of the Oracle Application Testing Suite is not expensive. It is less expensive than other solutions."
"Pricing is always cheaper with Tricentis NeoLoad versus the very expensive Micro Focus LoadRunner."
"The licensing for this solution is renewable yearly, and covers all available features and technical support."
"The tool is not cheap."
"From a licensing cost perspective, I rate the product an eight out of ten since it is a cheap solution that looks costly for certain areas."
"The solution requires an annual license."
"Tricentis NeoLoad is much cheaper compared to other tools like LoadRunner."
"It is cheaper than other solutions."
"I'd rate it a seven out of ten in terms of pricing"
