Less expensive than some competing solutions, but it's hard to handle logistics management at scale
We're having problems with logistics and warehouse management, and we don't know if we have the right module from Penta. When shipments come into our warehouse, they have to plug it into the Penta system and find the right place to store them. They have to go through the same process on the way out. Our production department has to do the same thing each time to prepare the material for production and get the goods out of the store. It takes a lot of time. I don't know if there are any automated solutions for it. We also do internal manufacturing orders from the German branch of our company. We send an order to the manufacturing department for every car and they have to enter each individual order into the system. The production manager spends so much time organizing this task.

Provides efficiency for small businesses, but requires costly add-ons for broader capabilities
I am currently using SAP products but not primarily selling SAP. Regarding real-time data processing capabilities, it is partially helpful for decision-making. It has built-in capability for real-time data, but it's not interactive data analytics. People need another solution such as Power BI to be integrated to get real-time data with interactive analytics. When it comes to customizing reporting in SAP Business One, it has the capability to customize reports via SAP Crystal Reports. It has a good amount of reports, but for each business, you need to understand exactly what the customer needs to customize their reports. The solution includes a mobile app to access key business information, though it is a very weak mobile app. The main benefit SAP Business One provides to users is ease of access. It's very good to present to customers, both from the interface and capabilities perspective. It's suitable for small to medium companies, making the buy-in for the solution very good. The pricing for SAP Business One is very competitive. Overall, SAP Business One is a very good solution for small to medium businesses. If your company is looking for an ERP to run end-to-end business, this is the solution. You need specific add-ons to run in specific industries, but it's approximately 70% good for most small to medium companies. My overall rating for SAP Business One is 7 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"
"Penta offers a single way to solve our problems rather than building a new ERP system in the company."
"If SAP Business One is managed efficiently, it can definitely give you a good return on your investment."
"SAP Business One has real-time data processing updates."
"This is a great product on its own, and the technicalities of it have improved as compared to the older version."
"Its real-time data capabilities initially provided critical insights that supported our decision-making. It effectively meets our data security and compliance requirements."
"SAP Business One is streamlined and easy to set up, which provides major benefits for the end-users as it is very integratable for SMB."
"This is an all-in-one ERP solution for small businesses; everything is linked, and once you have this, you have all the features available in SAP, including PR, inventory items, journal entry, and project management features."
"It's fully integrated with great dashboard and interface."
"The most important features are the accounting and finance features, everything leads to finance, the initial setup is not too complex, it's stable, you can scale the solution well, and the pricing is good."

Cons

"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."
"Our company is expanding to different countries, and business is growing. We feel that it is not good enough for the huge volume of the business."
"SAP is not willing to improve SAP Business One because they have other solutions they are pushing, such as SAP Grow, which is the S/4HANA Cloud."
"It would be better if the solution was on a cloud infrastructure."
"There are problems with Business One's collection management and reconciliation."
"Currently, SAP Business One only has ERP modules and lacks HR or payroll modules."
"SAP Business One could improve asset management, inventory management, banking system, and production. Additionally, SAP Business One did not deduct TDS, withholding tax on payments."
"There is room for improvement in the manufacturing and logistics areas of SAP Business One on AWS."
"Our company is expanding to different countries, and business is growing. We feel that it is not good enough for the huge volume of the business. On-premises setup is not good enough for the overseas office. We have our onsite premises in Hong Kong, but we have a major sales office in the US. We are looking for a more efficient setup to fulfill our requirements and needs. It can have portals for vendors, suppliers, and customers. I know that they have this feature in version 10, but it still has space to improve."

"Pricing for me, it's not very interesting. I think it's priced at a normal level."
"The price of SAP Business One is expensive and there is only a standard license."
"SAP Business One is not cheap."
"Its price is reasonable. We have about 200 licenses. We have to pay every year for the license."
"We recently acquired the license, so we are using the latest version."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
