Reliable business laptops have improved productivity and support secure virtual machine work
Pros and Cons
  • "Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization, and I have noticed improvements in productivity and reliability since using them, though this depends on the configuration of the laptop."
  • "I do wish that Dell Business Laptops' lowest tier of laptops had slightly better build quality."

What is our primary use case?

I typically use Dell Business Laptops for cloud computing, managing other people's accounts, and user administration. I also use Dell Business Laptops for a personal project and to run virtual machines, given that they have enough RAM.

How has it helped my organization?

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization, and I have noticed improvements in productivity and reliability since using them, though this depends on the configuration of the laptop.

What is most valuable?

My experience with performance while running virtual machines has been good with no challenges, as it really depends on the configuration of the laptop. The build quality of Dell Business Laptops is very good.

In my opinion, the best features that Dell Business Laptops offer definitely include build quality, and there are business laptops that are suited specifically for business and security. The build quality of Dell Business Laptops impacts my day-to-day work positively as it is much sturdier than that of a consumer laptop.

The business security features I have noticed include a fingerprint sensor and a card reader. Regarding Dell Business Laptops' AI capabilities, I think its governance and security are good, as it definitely has Windows Defender on it. Some business laptops have security features such as a card reader, fingerprint scanner, and Windows Hello.

What needs improvement?

I do wish that Dell Business Laptops' lowest tier of laptops had slightly better build quality.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for almost a year now, really most of my life.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

What it depends on is definitely the configuration, mainly how much RAM or what kind of processor that it has. What I appreciate about Dell Business Laptops is that it is very simple to work on. If something goes wrong, the components in the laptop are replaceable very easily.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dell Business Laptops an eight. I give Dell Business Laptops an eight out of ten because they are great, but they are not perfect. I do not use the AI on my Dell Business Laptops, so I have not noticed anything in particular when using AI-driven features or tools.

In terms of my role and responsibilities when it comes to IT procurement, I can resell laptops. My advice for others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is to look for one that has at least eight to sixteen gigabytes of RAM to meet Windows 11 eligible requirements and have at least an eighth generation processor. I have given Dell Business Laptops an overall rating of eight out of ten.

Pros and Cons
  • "My experience with Dell Business Laptops is that they are awesome and always my go-to choice."

What is our primary use case?

I don't select laptops for my organization; I work on them. The specific challenge I was trying to address when I chose Dell Business Laptops for my organization was connectivity.

    What is most valuable?

Dell Business Laptops run all Word products and Microsoft products effectively. The features that have impacted my team and organization are the user-friendly aspect of the laptops.

Dell Business Laptops have supported my organization's hybrid workforces.

    What needs improvement?

The touchscreen aspects of Dell Business Laptops are what I appreciate more since I work in a car.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for five years after I switched careers.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Dell was the best option and the most user-friendly choice when I selected it over other brands I was considering.

    What was our ROI?

The measurable outcomes since deploying Dell Business Laptops are that it is what everybody is used to working on. It is what we grew up using in high school and elementary school. Dell Business Laptops are what we have always used, so it is easy to work on.

What other advice do I have?

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would say it is user-friendly.

For another IT buyer that is on the fence about using Dell Business Laptops for their commercial fleet, I would say it is probably the best option available because I prefer it over Apple, which is too hard and does not integrate as well with everything.

My experience with Dell Business Laptops is that they are awesome and always my go-to choice.

Reliable business laptops have supported secure remote work and simplified daily deployment
    Pros and Cons
    • "Dell Business Laptops are a good product with a long lifespan and reliability."
    • "To improve Dell Business Laptops, I suggest reducing the weight, improving battery life, and reducing the cost."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops are deployed to our remote workers or workers that prefer a laptop over a desktop. My main use case involves carrying my Dell Latitude home after work and bringing it in the morning to plug in and get on the network. This is a pretty standard use case in our organization.

Dell Business Laptops are deployed in my organization on-premises, and we use the Latitude series. I am utilizing the security features such as TPM chips and BIOS-level protections on Dell Business Laptops. These features improve our security posture.

I would describe the ease of integrating Dell Business Laptops with my existing IT infrastructure as straightforward. We build an image, deploy it to the laptops, and that is the end of it. We have an expectation that we can get three or four years out of them, and we meet that goal.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offer include reliability, good battery life, good performance, and durability. Dell Business Laptops have impacted my organization positively by providing us a quality product that we know we can rely on at a reasonable price.

    What needs improvement?

To improve Dell Business Laptops, I suggest reducing the weight, improving battery life, and reducing the cost.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for over twenty years

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Dell Business Laptops are stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

They are not scalable devices. You just buy more when you need more.

How are customer service and support?

My impression of the ProSupport service provided with Dell Business Laptops is that we seldom use it, but when we have had to call in, it has been good. My experience with customer support is that when we have had to call in, which is not very often, it has been good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

They had HP laptops here prior to my arrival. I had a history with Dell, so when it came time for a refresh, I brought Dell in.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was positive. There was no setup cost. Pricing was as expected, always more than you want to pay. There is no licensing associated with it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options before choosing Dell Business Laptops.

What other advice do I have?

For us, all those components coming together matter to us. Dell Business Laptops allow for easy management by IT staff, though that is more operating system and software specific. Dell Business Laptops are a good product with a long lifespan and reliability. I have had great success using them and the prices are on par with other manufacturers. I recommend Dell Business Laptops as a quality product. I gave this review a rating of ten out of ten.

Standardized laptops have provided secure hybrid work and now support growing AI development needs
    Pros and Cons
    • "Since switching to Dell Business Laptops, the specific results or improvements our end users have experienced include, especially from an IT organization standpoint, consistency; many threats have to be dealt with from a cyber standpoint, onboarding, outboarding, and more, so being able to have a common set of tooling and a common set of hardware that you could trust and depend on is what is important."

What is our primary use case?

When we chose Dell Business Laptops for our organization, we were trying to address the need to have an enterprise level kind of configuration scale and maintenance.

From a technical standpoint, as we begin to invest more from an AI perspective, we are looking for additional performance capabilities to support any AI workload that we want to put on them, especially as we are doing more development with agents, and we want to make sure our teams have the best tools available for that.

      What is most valuable?

Our top priorities when selecting laptops for our organization are to make sure that we have a smooth onboarding experience, and now with new AI type of tools, we want to ensure that we are effectively communicating and setting up how they should be secure and how our department should use them.

Dell Business Laptops support our organization's hybrid workforce because hybrid is important to us; we are global, and we need to travel, so the flexibility of the form factor makes it easy and helps us support that model, and having different performance options means that we can scale to what individual needs are.

Since switching to Dell Business Laptops, the specific results or improvements our end users have experienced include, especially from an IT organization standpoint, consistency; many threats have to be dealt with from a cyber standpoint, onboarding, outboarding, and more, so being able to have a common set of tooling and a common set of hardware that you could trust and depend on is what is important.

      What needs improvement?

In terms of how Dell Business Laptops can be improved, there is constantly a lot of change going on in the industry, so it is about staying on top of that, which I know Dell is making the investments in doing everything from an AI standpoint, and it will be from that aspect of it, just making sure that the flexibility is being designed so those types of tooling can be adopted quickly.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our organization has been using Dell Business Laptops for around fifteen years.

What other advice do I have?

We chose Dell Business Laptops over other brands we were considering because of a strong partnership with Dell, and we also utilize Dell from our business standpoint and from our OEM agreement, so we support our partners.

If I were given advice to share to a peer that is considering Dell Business Laptops, the strongest thing I would say is that we have not had any issues with them.

At this time, I do not know which models we are using, but we use a full fleet of a bunch of them.

I would give this review a rating of 9.

Reliable laptops have improved mobility and productivity while reducing device replacement costs
      Pros and Cons
      • "Dell Business Laptops have definitely made people more productive in my organization."
      • "The only thing I would improve on Dell Business Laptops is that the casing is very easy to scratch, particularly on the Latitude ones and the Pros."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops in my organization is for any employee. We used to only give laptops to employees who traveled and desktops to remote employees, but employees loved the laptops so much with the mobility that it is the only thing we issue now.

A quick specific example of how someone in my company uses Dell Business Laptops day-to-day is that people here use them to take calls, handle anything in their workflow, check emails, and take meetings. I use mine to run scripts, connect to people's devices, and help troubleshoot.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offers are the build quality, the keyboard backlighting, and the reliability. They look good. I think Dell makes the best looking laptops apart from Apple.

Dell Business Laptops have definitely made people more productive in my organization. They have helped us save money by not having to replace people's devices as much.

When I say people are more productive, I can say we have definitely saved upwards of fifty thousand dollars.

The specific results or improvements my end users have experienced since switching to these Dell laptops include more productivity, better battery life, cooler computers, and quicker computers.

      What needs improvement?

The only thing I would improve on Dell Business Laptops is that the casing is very easy to scratch, particularly on the Latitude ones and the Pros. I would suggest adding a thick cover or a coating that is resistant to scratching.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for two and a half years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I want to add that we have been using Dell Business Laptops since I started working here. The company we merged with used HP laptops, and I noticed that Dell Business Laptops had much better longevity than the HPs did. The difference was night and day.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I chose Dell over the other brands I was considering because I was familiar with them.

What other advice do I have?

The only advice I would give to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is that it is a good switch and they should move forward.

Dell Business Laptops are deployed in my organization on-premises as physical equipment on site.

I purchased Dell Business Laptops through another vendor.

I can share that the security features of Dell Business Laptops are very secure and do enough for our organization.

The keyboard backlighting does not really make a difference in my workflow, but it makes typing more engaging and makes work a little less boring.

I rate Dell Business Laptops a nine because they are good.

Consistent business laptops have simplified IT management and supported long-term durability
      Pros and Cons
      • "Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization as they give us a consistent laptop for people that work in the company."
      • "I don't think I have seen a return on investment."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is employee usage, web calls, email, and basic business applications.

My team is IT, so we use Dell Business Laptops mostly for IT usage, whether that's logging into specific MDM or patch management systems or troubleshooting users' computers.

We also use Dell Business Laptops for video calls, so using the webcam as a main function as well as external monitors.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offer are toughness, rigidity, long-lasting durability, and I appreciate the touch screen.

These features help my team in day-to-day work because we don't have to replace devices as often since they last longer. The touch screen is always a nice way to provide input on the computer instead of relying on the touchpad or the mouse and keyboard.

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization as they give us a consistent laptop for people that work in the company. I can always go to Dell and expect to get a certain product for good pricing directly through the Premier page. That consistency and pricing have benefited my team and organization by making it easy to budget replacements and purchase new computers for either new hires or for replacing devices.

      What needs improvement?

The fingerprint reader should work better than it currently does; it's constantly having to remap a finger or simply doesn't work. I also believe that the webcam should be higher quality by now.

Dell Business Laptops can be improved by increasing the accuracy of the fingerprint reader, increasing the quality of the webcam, and creating a more lightweight footprint or a more aluminum-based footprint, similar to the new XPS line that you offer.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for over 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Dell Business Laptops are stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptop's scalability is fine; we have no issues with the units we have and I'm confident we'll still be able to purchase them in the future.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support is great; it's easy to get a hold of and easy to replace devices or get them fixed.

I would rate the customer support a nine on a scale of one to ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have always used Dell; I did not previously use a different solution.

      How was the initial setup?

I describe the ease of integrating Dell Business Laptops with my existing IT infrastructure as the same. We've been using Dell laptops and Dell computers for a very long time now, so there's really not an issue adding them into the work environment.

      What about the implementation team?

Dell Business Laptops allow for easy management by IT staff. There's nothing specific because the MDM manages all the settings, permissions, and policies on the computers. Really, it's more of the operating system that allows for this integration, not so much the laptop itself.

      What was our ROI?

I don't think I have seen a return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is fine; there's an increase in the pricing, but that has nothing to do with Dell specifically. That's more of the market and the costs and the AI creation that's happening.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Lenovo and HP before choosing Dell Business Laptops.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Dell Business Laptops a nine on a scale of one to ten.

I choose a nine because nothing is perfect. There's always room for improvements, but overall, it's a good product that does exactly what it's expected to do.

My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is that Dell has been around for a really long time. They're a trusted creator of computers and I think their support is equally satisfying. My overall review rating for Dell Business Laptops is nine.

Streamlined daily work has reduced setup time and supports secure biometric access
      Pros and Cons
      • "Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization through simplicity of setup and straightforwardness, given that the devices are close iterations to one another and have similar chips and drivers, making management and setup convenient pre-user and post-use."
      • "Another aspect to improve would be that RAM consumption is quite high; the standard 16 gigabytes do not tend to be enough for medium use of the device when there are many browsers open and applications, especially Office 365, which consume quite a bit, particularly Microsoft Teams lately, causing RAM to become a bottleneck that slows down everything or freezes the device."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is for day-to-day tasks. In my day-to-day work, I use Dell Business Laptops for office applications, Citrix Workspace, writing PowerShell scripts, using Copilot, browsing, and accessing any other enterprise applications.

      What is most valuable?

The best features that Dell Business Laptops offer are biometrics and the design of the actual device. What stands out to me about the biometric features and design is its speed, reaction, and how well it detects.

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization through simplicity of setup and straightforwardness, given that the devices are close iterations to one another and have similar chips and drivers, making management and setup convenient pre-user and post-use.

The simplicity in setup and management has affected my team and my work significantly, as automation, Autopilot automation, and linking Dell API for registering hardware devices come in handy because it shaves off a lot of time for the service desk on setting up and configuring devices, alleviating pressure and downtime for devices that have faults.

      What needs improvement?

I would note that face recognition is always short distance-wise, so I have to sit closer than one might be comfortable with; that is something to improve. Dell Business Laptops could be improved in terms of biometrics, as fingerprint recognition could be faster and work more seamlessly with Windows; on a fresh hibernation startup, it takes a good minute to kick in and come into effect, and face recognition could benefit from improved distance when recognizing faces, as many devices are used on stands, making them further away from the user.

Another aspect to improve would be that RAM consumption is quite high; the standard 16 gigabytes do not tend to be enough for medium use of the device when there are many browsers open and applications, especially Office 365, which consume quite a bit, particularly Microsoft Teams lately, causing RAM to become a bottleneck that slows down everything or freezes the device.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find that Dell Business Laptops are stable for most light users, but some do run into problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops handle increases in the number of users or devices in my organization well; they are easy to roll out to more employees as my company grows, especially with Azure InTune management, as they are fairly quick to roll out. We are also letting Dell register devices as they come during orders, making the rollout automated and more smooth and seamless.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support I have experienced has been good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have not previously used a different solution; we have been using Dell laptops for a long time.

      How was the initial setup?

In my organization, we deploy Dell Business Laptops using InTune and we utilize InTune Autopilot.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was smooth since we had a tender signed directly with Dell, which worked nicely.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Dell Business Laptops, I evaluated other options, including HP laptops and Lenovos, which were on the board.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is to define your needs and requirements and see if the devices tick those boxes. I would rate my experience with Dell Business Laptops as an 8 out of 10.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Lightweight laptops have improved 24/7 support work and make remote monitoring simple
      Pros and Cons
      • "In my opinion, the best features Dell Business Laptops offer are that they are very easy to use, and the keyboard light is useful at nighttime to easily type everything, especially since I'm working as a 24/7 support."
      • "So far, I did not see the accuracy and reliability of output from Dell Business Laptops that I expected to see."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is for day-to-day activity in my office.

A specific example of a task I regularly do using Dell Business Laptops is based on our day-to-day activity, where we monitor our clusters and server health.

      What is most valuable?

In my opinion, the best features Dell Business Laptops offer are that they are very easy to use, and the keyboard light is useful at nighttime to easily type everything, especially since I'm working as a 24/7 support. The keyboard light and ease of use help me in my day-to-day support work because I'm working as a 24/7 support, and sometimes at nighttime if the normal light is low, the keyboard light is very useful to type easily. Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization by being lightweight and very easy to power on, so they are very useful. A specific example of how the lightweight and easy-to-use nature of Dell Business Laptops has helped our team is that everyone can easily bring up their laptop from home, allowing them to support from home as well.

      What needs improvement?

I wish Dell Business Laptops could be improved in terms of the display size, as currently they are providing only around 15 or 16 inches; if they offered a bigger screen, it would be best.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for around five years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

So far, I did not see the accuracy and reliability of output from Dell Business Laptops that I expected to see.

How are customer service and support?

Regarding Dell Business Laptops' AI capabilities, I think the governance and security are really good; this part our other team will manage, but it is really good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I gave it a nine because I can type everything at nighttime, and having used other laptops such as Lenovo, I think Dell is good in comparison.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is that they are very easy to carry and are lightweight, so they are easy to use. I found this interview very useful because you asked many questions, so it was very useful to us. I gave this review a rating of nine.

Reliable performance has supported heavy security scripts and smooth daily operations
      Pros and Cons
      • "The speed, reliability, and brand name made me choose Dell Business Laptops over other brands I was considering for my day-to-day work."
      • "I believe the cost of Dell Business Laptops could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

I generally used Dell Business Laptops for running internal tools and performing operations and security operation works, as well as running scripts. I was running local scripts to extract data and analyze it. I used Dell Business Laptops for my operations work to help me perform my day-to-day tasks. Dell Business Laptops can run the end-user security tools that we intended to run for day-to-day work.

      What is most valuable?

I believe the speed of Dell Business Laptops is valuable, and it does not heat up. I ran some brute force operations on Dell Business Laptops, and generally I have seen other laptops heat up quickly, but Dell Business Laptops ran smoothly, which gave me good feedback. The workflow with Dell Business Laptops smoothened my work and ran sleek without hanging.
