What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is for end-user business productivity.

What is most valuable?

The valuable features include price. The pricing for Dell Business Laptops was competitive compared to Lenovo and HP. We switched because Dell can supply in time for our needs. Having Dell Business Laptops has helped with client delivery.

What needs improvement?

Make device lighter if possible. The recent Dell laptop model naming has also been very confusing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for a long time, more than 10 years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also still use Lenovo.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We only have three vendors to consider.

What other advice do I have?

The security features of Dell Business Laptops serve our needs and requirements. Users are satisfied since they seem to be more robust and not as susceptible to damage compared to some of the other vendors. I would rate this review an 8.

Provides long-term reliability and robust performance across various roles
Pros and Cons
  • "The advantages of Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops are that they don't break as much and they're more robust compared to others."
  • "The most valuable feature of having Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops is the quality, as they don't break too much and they have excellent service."
  • "Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops can be improved by considering that the price matters more these days."

What is our primary use case?

My usual use case is that I buy Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops for the good price and good quality.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of having Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops is the quality, as they don't break too much and they have excellent service. Regarding benefits to my organization by having Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops specifically, the employees don't mind if it's Lenovo, Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops, or HP; we decide what's the best.

Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops are robust as they do a good job. They break less compared to others, even if the employee does anything with them and sometimes drops them on the floor; they are really robust.

The advantages of Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops are that they don't break as much and they're more robust compared to others.

What needs improvement?

Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops can be improved by considering that the price matters more these days. I understand that laptops are not for a long time, maybe three years, due to the constant changes in CPUs and other features. Most of it is the price, as we know after three years we have to do something with them, either sell them or give them to employees' families as presents.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops for 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I assess the stability and reliability of Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops as much more than other manufacturers.

How are customer service and support?

I have contacted Dell tech support before for these laptops. My experience with Dell tech support is that most of the service is through the company we buy from; we don't buy directly from Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops.

However, from time to time, we have questions that the representative doesn't know how to solve, and we have to contact Dell or Dell Europe. I don't remember where it was. It wasn't in Israel, and we got good service.

I would rate Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops service overall as very nice and excellent.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Lenovo as a competing brand. I would compare the two by saying that Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops is better.

What other advice do I have?

The models I use specifically depend on the job of the employee; for managers, they should be nice to carry and lightweight. Most of the employees that also have to work from home and don't walk about prefer the larger monitors, 15 inch or 14 inch.

Currently, I have a Lenovo model.

My advice for somebody considering Dell Enterprise Desktops and Laptops is to check them out and see for themselves.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate my overall experience as a nine.

Supports advanced virtual machine tasks and secure development with a sleek and functional design
Pros and Cons
  • "What stands out about this laptop when I compare it to others is that while MacBooks are very sleek, I think Dell Enterprise Laptops XPS line is one of the few laptops that can also produce that level of sleekness."

What is our primary use case?

I perform a mix of tasks that involve hosting a lot of virtual machines. For security purposes, I have a VM called Kali, for example, which is specialized for attacking and red teaming ethical hacking, all contained within a virtual machine. I use virtual machines for malware analysis. Besides that, I use it extensively for scripting and developing, mostly scripting, and of course, regular documenting and browsing, primarily in the field with VMs that have Linux machines on them.

    What is most valuable?

What stands out about this laptop when I compare it to others is that while MacBooks are very sleek, I think Dell Enterprise Laptops XPS line is one of the few laptops that can also produce that level of sleekness. Although some have complained about the touch because it's integrated, I quite appreciate it as it gives a very nice aesthetic, is sleek, works well, and features nice materials that are soft to touch, even though it's metal. I know that the touchpad is new for this generation of XPS, and the previous ones also had a very nice touchpad compared to other competition. Additionally, I love the resolution because Dell is one of the only ones that offers or at least pioneered the 1920 by 1200 resolution, so it's a bit longer, giving more screen space for document editing.

I do appreciate that there's a micro SD card slot; it's just nice to have. I don't mind that there's no USB Type-2 as everything is USB Type-C, which is perfect. I think it's modern, and even the keyboard is fine and just works.

    What needs improvement?

It's nice that you offer it now, but I don't have that screen; money-wise, it was not in the budget, and I don't need it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this laptop for a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There's almost no downtime, crashes, or problems.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't needed customer service as it just works. For small issues involving software, I can handle those myself. It's been nice not requiring support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I chose Dell for my laptop because I knew the specs were good enough for my needs. I'm not allowed to say this, but initially, they assigned me an HP, and I was not happy. In my personal life, I've used Dell as well, as well as in my previous job, and when it was an option, I was immediately inclined to request a Dell. I'm not just saying this for the interview.

    How was the initial setup?

I describe the deployment as being very user-friendly. I am very technical and usually skip all the Windows configuration for my personal machines, but with this, it was just logging in with my business email, as I didn't do the whole configuration.

    What about the implementation team?

That's handled by another team that ensures the laptops are ready for employees. I just receive it and log in, and since I have local admin rights, I can tweak things myself.

What other advice do I have?

The battery life is also pretty great; I usually use it plugged in because we have docks at work, so I don't really need to worry about charging.

It does the job, and it's almost fully specced out except for the display, as I just have the regular display, not the fancy OLED one with touch.

I can find documentation easily. I would rate this laptop a 9 out of 10.

Supports diverse workloads in enterprise environments with reliable performance and adaptable hardware
    Pros and Cons
    • "Dell Enterprise Laptops are the main hardware that the people in the company work on, so it's mainly laptops, a few hundred workstations, and that is it—just work."
    • "Sometimes they crash; we currently have issues with a laptop model we bought last year that shows a lot of crashing, so that is what we are trying to find out what is causing it."

What is our primary use case?

I mostly use Dell Enterprise Laptops, specifically Latitudes and Precisions, and we now have two of the newer models from this year. For personal use, I use Dell Enterprise Laptops on the job.Dell Enterprise Laptops are the main hardware that the people in the company work on, so it's mainly laptops, a few hundred workstations, and that is it—just work.I do anything with Dell Enterprise Laptops; they are used for different branches and teams, with the Precision line for more developer tasks and the Latitudes for more office-focused work.

    What is most valuable?

For the Precisions, they could be i7 or Core 7, or maybe now they are Core 9.Sometimes they crash; we currently have issues with a laptop model we bought last year that shows a lot of crashing, so that is what we are trying to find out what is causing it.Windows Update for Business is pretty generic; I think other brands such as HP are also pushing their drivers to Microsoft to make them available.

    What needs improvement?

The performance of Dell Enterprise Laptops is okay, although sometimes the builds change a little bit with tiny alterations each year. The changes could be good and bad, such as alterations to the mousepad that are perceived as not working very well, or issues with the materials used or the coating of the laptop; we sometimes have to swap the laptop lids due to problems with the coating.I think with the newer versions of Dell Enterprise Laptops, since we have them quite recently, it usually takes approximately a year or maybe a little more to see if the surface gets damaged with scratches.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for around five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes they crash; we currently have issues with a laptop model we bought last year that shows a lot of crashing, so that is what we are trying to find out what is causing it.

How are customer service and support?

If we cannot solve it ourselves fast, we usually submit a ticket or contact customer service.I find that they are okay, although sometimes the problems are pretty complex and it takes quite a while to solve; if it gets really difficult, we have to take escalation paths, but other than that, it has been fine.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I would not necessarily consider changing from Dell Enterprise Laptops, but it is something that we might look into in the near future regarding what other brands are doing; it is always on your mind to check other technologies and costs.

What other advice do I have?

If we cannot solve it ourselves fast, we usually submit a ticket or contact customer service. For the support cases, I would rate them maybe a seven.I am not really into the financial aspect regarding the cost of Dell Enterprise Laptops, as I am mostly doing the maintenance and technical support, but I think they are acceptable; their prices have been pretty stable over the years and have become slightly more expensive, but it is acceptable. I would rate this review an eight overall.

Managing devices and optimizing office tasks has become more efficient
    Pros and Cons
    • "I find Dell Enterprise Laptops fully reliable."
    • "I think that with the new laptops, they're too heavy, way too heavy, and that's causing issues from my side."

What is our primary use case?

My main use for the laptop is Excel. We don't do any AI at the moment, but we're going to most likely do something with that very soon. For web, we just do the normal tasks. We manage applications, Teams, and it's very straightforward, all Windows.Regarding the screen, everything is fine. We don't do any videos or anything like that, so for us, it's just basic Windows Office, and I have no issue with that.

    What is most valuable?

The CPU affects my choice to use Dell Enterprise Laptops. I use vPro for heavy users, and then I use the regular Core for HR and admin assistant for support. What I appreciate most about Dell Enterprise Laptops is that I learned that Dell has a way for me to push and manage computers that I have in the network, so that's what I'm going to start using now.I think that more and more AI is going to be used, and we're going to be using it sooner or later, so with the new laptops, at least I know that I'm covered in a basic way. We're not developers, so that's another story.Better performance for me is defined by knowing the drivers, what people are using, the space, and the RAM.

    What needs improvement?

I think that with the new laptops, they're too heavy, way too heavy, and that's causing issues from my side. I would appreciate this changing for the next versions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Enterprise Laptops for over 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I didn't encounter any downtime or crashes with the laptops.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For handling all the workloads that I have, I put a lot of memory in the laptops, so then I know I'm okay.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't used customer service recently. In the past with a different company, I did have an instance where the motherboard died, but they replaced it. That service was efficient.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Dell Enterprise Laptops, I did not have anything else. It's been Dell for me.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For the pricing, I'm part of the Dell Premiere, so I get a lower price, and I'm fine with that. Managing costs is straightforward since I just bought one computer a year ago. I did need to buy a new battery, which was a bit of a problem, but it's only one issue among many.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The main reason I keep using Dell Enterprise Laptops is that for me, they are work laptops, not Mac. Mac is for design, and Dell Enterprise Laptops work with everything. They're easy and affordable.

What other advice do I have?

Currently, I am testing Dell Enterprise Laptops Pro Max.The CPU for the newer laptops is the Intel Core Ultra, or the Intel vPro 7.Today I learned something new about the vPros that I'm going to start looking into, but so far the performance has been fine.I find Dell Enterprise Laptops fully reliable. In the past, I just used the Dell website for drivers, and that's it.For the keyboards, they are okay. I have some external keyboards and mice, and I have one that works perfectly. I never have a problem. I can leave my laptop connected for 10 days and the keyboard, even though it's wireless, works.I'm satisfied with my current setup. I would rate this review at 9 out of 10.

Provides long-term configuration flexibility and support while facing ongoing hardware reliability issues
    Pros and Cons
    • "Calling tech support is quick and easy, and I can get it fixed whenever I need it to."
    • "Dell Enterprise Laptops could be improved with better quality assurance and quality control."

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases include office applications, primarily Office 365 applications. We spec the laptops accordingly to the user's needs, so they pretty much keep up with the user and are application-based from the time we give them.

    What is most valuable?

The feature I like the most is tech support. Calling tech support is quick and easy, and I can get it fixed whenever I need it to. Having this laptop improves my company overall by providing more features available when it's configured, offering more flexibility in the configuration of features.

    What needs improvement?

Dell Enterprise Laptops could be improved with better quality assurance and quality control.

I found issues with this current laptop I'm using. When I tilt it 15 degrees, the screen goes blank, and I have to close it and reopen it for it to come back on. It goes to sleep, and I've checked several times that it doesn't seem to be a Windows setting; it may be something internal. Other models we have experience issues where the camera disappears in the middle of a Zoom meeting, and you have to reboot or reinstall the camera completely. We have other issues where it would stop charging from all Thunderbolt ports, and we either have to have the motherboard changed or change certain power settings in the BIOS. Quality assurance or quality control could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Enterprise Laptops, specifically this Pro model, for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability and reliability, I wouldn't say I've experienced performance issues, but I have experienced crashes. I've noted cameras disappearing in the middle of a Zoom or Teams meeting, or the laptop going to sleep if you simply pick it up from your desk or try to move it. There are certain quirks, or it stops charging once you take it off the docking station and try to plug it back in. We've had these quirks over the last six years that we've had to find peculiar workarounds for.

How are customer service and support?

ProSupport Plus technical support is usually pretty accommodating. You never have to stay on hold, and the technician will take ownership of the case throughout, which is what they do for the premium support. We also have TechDirect, so it's pretty simple to get parts as we need them, and overall, support is fine.

I would rate the technical support between an eight and a nine. We have looked at other brands, but for technical support in terms of global reach, Dell usually gives us better technical support overall. This applies regardless of whether you're in Brazil, Poland, or some other places where we've had issues.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not considered other brands before choosing Dell Enterprise Laptops.

    What was our ROI?

The biggest return on investment when using this laptop in my company is the extended lifespan. It gives us a longer, durable lifespan compared to other models. Other features, such as the Core i5, might give us three years of usable life, while the Core i9 will give us five years of usable life, providing extended life.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with the pricing, setup costs, and licensing for these computers is that pricing is pretty competitive. For setup costs, we do set up ourselves, so there's no cost on Dell's end for the setup.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to other companies that are thinking of getting Dell laptops for themselves is to do the try-and-buys before you get them. Other than the quality assurance, it hasn't let me down. I would rate this review as a six overall.

Reliable workstations have reduced downtime and support seamless daily operations
    Pros and Cons
    • "Dell Business Laptops has positively impacted my organization by ensuring that we don't have to worry about devices failing from time to time, so reliability is the most important thing in our organization."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is that we use it for day-to-day workstation operations.

A quick specific example of what that looks like in my organization is that we use Microsoft Office and our ERP system, accounting system. We do all our work on the workstations.

The best features Dell Business Laptops offers are that they are durable and the battery is long-lasting.

In tough conditions, Dell Business Laptops typically can last three to four hours, and our devices last at least three years. The design looks great as well.

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for the last five years.

Portability has supported remote collaboration while better device insights are still needed
      Pros and Cons
      • "The benefits we have realized from using Dell Enterprise Laptops compared to others relate to stability, as we have compared the main brands, which are HP and Lenovo, and found Dell to be the easiest to manage, the easiest to obtain support for, and the most stable in use."
      • "When considering ways Dell Enterprise Laptops could be better, one area that would be helpful is gaining more insights into the laptop's health and battery health."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Enterprise Laptops serve as the primary solution for our entire company across every department. We have departments ranging from finance to HR, as well as field-based teams including our mechanics and personnel working on-site.

      What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Dell Enterprise Laptops for us emerged during the Corona period when we needed to work anytime and anywhere, which represented a significant shift for us from VMware Horizon thin clients to laptops.

Portability is the main reason we can collaborate effectively with Teams and conduct video chats. Portability was crucial during the pandemic, as it allowed remote work and collaboration using video chat and similar functionalities.

      What needs improvement?

When considering ways Dell Enterprise Laptops could be better, one area that would be helpful is gaining more insights into the laptop's health and battery health. I know HP has done this considerably better than Dell at this moment. Obtaining more insights would allow us to be proactive—for example, if a laptop is running low on battery, we could proactively change the battery or replace the laptop before issues arise.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The benefits we have realized from using Dell Enterprise Laptops compared to others relate to stability. We have compared the main brands, which are HP and Lenovo, and Dell has been the easiest to manage, the easiest to obtain support for, and the most stable in use.

How are customer service and support?

My evaluation of Dell's support on a scale of one to ten is an eight. I rate it an eight and not a ten because it comes with a price, and for our company where we have internal customers close to us, Dell support does not provide significant benefit when we can simply ask our customers to come in to exchange a laptop. However, when I worked at a multinational company, I saw real benefit in having an engineer visit the next day to replace hardware when issues occurred.

Currently, we do not use Dell support; we have the carry-in or carry-out service, which is the lowest support level available on our laptops. We chose this option because it is cheaper to maintain spare laptops on our shelves to address issues as they arise.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

      What was our ROI?

We have realized a return on our investment into Dell Enterprise Laptops.

We replace our hardware and laptops within three years, and after three years, we work with a company that handles this for the community. We are always looking for environmentally-friendly options for this process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with the pricing, setup costs, and licensing of Dell Enterprise Laptops is that the pricing could be better if we had quotations from other brands to compare against it. I am not saying that Dell is more expensive, but I believe it could be cheaper with some comparison shopping. However, we are embedded in the Dell ecosystem with Dell docking stations and Dell monitors, and we see that Dell handles integration with these accessories better than HP or Lenovo laptops do.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The brands we have considered are HP and Lenovo.

What other advice do I have?

We are currently using the Latitude 5550 and the Dell Pro 16 models of Dell Enterprise Laptops.

We use Dell Enterprise Laptops with Intel inside. The Intel processor we use is the i5, though I am uncertain of the generation—I believe it is the recent one, possibly the 13th generation. The way Intel processors handle our workloads compared to what I expected is satisfactory. We have never compared Intel with AMD processors, so I cannot determine if there is a significant difference. In the past, Intel has been the most stable option for us when used with software applications such as Adobe Suite and AutoCAD that require substantial processing power for workstation tasks.

When we purchase new laptops or refresh existing ones, the Intel processor is always a consideration.

I would rate Dell Enterprise Laptops on a scale of one to ten as a seven or an eight because of the stability and manageability they provide. I believe HP is coming close to Dell's performance. Dell Enterprise Laptops need to reach a ten somehow.

My overall rating for this review is seven out of ten.

Reliability has supported nationwide tech access and consistent performance in consulting work
      Pros and Cons
      • "The best features of Dell Enterprise Laptops are the reliability; it has never failed me one time when having to do a presentation or having to do a lot of statistical analyses that often use up a lot of compute power."
      • "As far as appearance, a little bit of a splash of color might be helpful on Dell Enterprise Laptops; perhaps a different form factor that might distinguish it from other competing brands might be helpful in bringing in a new set of customers."

What is our primary use case?

I am using Dell Enterprise Laptops mostly for consulting work and giving some of our clients and their customers access to technology when sometimes they don't have easy access to laptops.

In a recent project, we did a decision-making analysis on possible expansion sites, and we presented all of our docs using Dell Enterprise Laptops.

      What is most valuable?

The best features of Dell Enterprise Laptops are the reliability; it has never failed me one time when having to do a presentation or having to do a lot of statistical analyses that often use up a lot of compute power.

When doing heavy statistical analyses, battery life is pretty consistent and on the higher range of performance, so I am quite pleased with that. This would also be aligned with speed. Processing speed has been quite nice.

The build quality on Dell Enterprise Laptops has improved from when I was using it in high school. It is still sleek, lightweight, the display is super clear, and it gives me confidence that it is going to be around for a while. I can trust the hardware to perform all of the tasks that I need.

In general, Dell Enterprise Laptops have positively impacted my organization; it was a very cost-effective way to give access to its user base, which would be a lot of emerging technologists from various areas of the country and to have Dell Enterprise Laptops be there as a reliable piece of technology for them to use whenever they need it has been pretty vital.

      What needs improvement?

As far as appearance, a little bit of a splash of color might be helpful on Dell Enterprise Laptops; perhaps a different form factor that might distinguish it from other competing brands might be helpful in bringing in a new set of customers.

Access to a lot of pre-installed software on Dell Enterprise Laptops might be beneficial; in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s, you had a lot of bundles that were already built into the hardware, so going back to that model would be super efficient for us.

I actually think Dell Enterprise Laptops should be marketed a little bit better; I think we all know who one of the leaders are, and they are great at marketing, and I think some more creative ways to market Dell Enterprise Laptops might be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Enterprise Laptops for about 10 years through one of our biggest clients.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Dell Enterprise Laptops are stable.

This is a sign of the reliability of Dell Enterprise Laptops; we have never had to call customer support, and that is a good sign.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Enterprise Laptops are fairly scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use a different solution.

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Dell Enterprise Laptops.

      How was the initial setup?

While I was not the purchasing manager on this one, I do get secondhand feedback that as far as pricing was concerned for Dell Enterprise Laptops, especially for a nonprofit, it was a great deal.

I don't have exact numbers. However, when it comes to growing nonprofits, this client was able to disperse laptops across the nation using four staff members max, and that is pretty efficient in terms of getting technology into the hands of emerging technologists.

What other advice do I have?

I think the advice I would give to others looking into using Dell Enterprise Laptops is don't think of Dell Enterprise Laptops in terms of old tech; they are integrating a lot of newer features and have partnered with some of the biggest chip companies in the world, so their current lineup in terms of technology is very solid. I rated this product an 8 out of 10.
