Policies help us restrict content and add educational applications for young students
Pros and Cons
  • "Policies are a great feature that allows us to push certain restrictions to devices that require them, such as the younger generation of students we have."
  • "An in-house chat room would be a great way to communicate with your team when you aren't physically present with them."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for device management across a large school.

MDM solutions. We have over two hundred staff and fifteen-hundred students. Jamf Pro allows us to manage all devices across the school remotely and push out any policies, software updates, and applications as needed. We can do all this from the comfort of the IT office, allowing us to focus more on the education around technology, rather than keeping the technology running itself.

How has it helped my organization?

Jamf Pro has improved the way IT supports education. It isn't just about device support anymore, we understand the power technology holds in the classroom. We are now able to collaborate with teachers to help them get the most out of their lessons. They have a goal, we have the knowledge to help them accomplish this.

What is most valuable?

Policies are a great feature that allows us to push certain restrictions to devices that require them, such as the younger generation of students we have. It also allows us to make sure each device is set up with the correct software for learning to flourish.

What needs improvement?

An in-house chat room would be a great way to communicate with your team when you aren't physically present with them. Also, the ability to add notes on devices, so that a history can be shown as to why a user has done certain things, such as their troubleshooting process or just general thoughts.

Pre-stage enrollments and self-service save us a lot of time
Pros and Cons
  • "The features that have been the most life-saving for us are pre-stage enrollments and self-service."
  • "The ability to ask a device to run a policy regularly would be a real advantage."

What is our primary use case?

We use Jamf Pro to manage all of our one-thousand-plus Apple devices.

We use Jamf for setting up re-stage enrolments and deploy them with the help of DEP and distribute device configurations and other software/applications for iMacs, Macbooks, and iPads. Its something we use every day.

How has it helped my organization?

The use of Jamf Pro has massively streamlined our process of working with Apple devices. Before Jamf, we would individually set up and install software on student and staff computers. This was a huge undertaking and has been made so much easier with the help of Jamf, being able to set this up for deployment beforehand.

What is most valuable?

The features that have been the most life-saving for us are pre-stage enrollments and self-service. The ability to set a generic suite of installations for all devices without ever having to touch the computer is amazing. This matched with self-service allows end-users to custom configure the machine to their needs.

What needs improvement?

I can think of only two ways that Jamf could be improved for us at the moment. Primarily by adding the ability to schedule policies for devices. The ability to ask a device to run a policy regularly would be a real advantage.

The other thing would be the ability to brand the Jamf admin portal to match the rest of the organization.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for three years.

Zero-touch deployment is a wonderful feature

What is our primary use case?

I use this product to manage Apple devices in the enterprise. From profile configurations to security compliance.

How has it helped my organization?

Jamf changed our lives completely from configuration, compliance and management. We needed something like a complete Mac shop to help us manage devices all over the world. With Jamf Pro in the cloud, we are capable of managing these systems and devices with ease.

What is most valuable?

Zero-touch deployment is a wonderful feature. Being able to assign systems directly from the manufacturer to new employees has been amazing. Plus with a complete self-service portal, our users have the flexibility to install software they need when they need it. Not to mention a number of environmental nuisances that are one-click fixes here.

    What needs improvement?

Pricing needs to be better for smaller businesses who need cloud-based products over on-premise solutions. It’s even hard for some medium and even large businesses to grasp the exceptionally high cost of the service.
