Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Simplifies device management, making performing various administrative tasks easier
Sometimes, the server gets slow. The dashboard is only getting loaded. Jamf Pro offers many features, but some improvements could make it even more user-friendly. For example, streamlining authentication controls would enhance its security value. Too many complex settings on the dashboard make it hard for users to navigate. Simplifying the settings would make it easier to use. Adding a more interactive and cleaner UI design would also improve the user experience. Additionally, automatically categorizing policies and configurations by type would be helpful, making the dashboard more organized. Introducing auto-filtering based on categories would streamline configuration management. On the security side, enabling two-factor authentication for console login would provide better protection than single sign-on. Only authorized users can access sensitive data, like the asset inventory stored in the console. 2FA would help keep the system secure, preventing unauthorized access even if login credentials are compromised. Device management needs automation, and Jamf is likely to integrate Apple's Apple Intelligence into its framework once it's available. This integration is expected to be a significant enhancement for the Jamf console, potentially transforming the way device management is handled.

Versatile device management simplifies device security and configuration while offering cost-effective options
I appreciate Samsung Knox because I have all solutions in one portal, including Knox Manage, Knox Configure, Enrollment, and E-FOTA. Samsung Knox is particularly valuable because I can manage not only Samsung devices but also Xiaomi, Huawei, and other Android devices. Additionally, I can create GPOs with Windows. The integration of Samsung Knox is straightforward because we can enroll devices across all types of Android devices, including Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, and TCL. You can enroll with the IMEI for Samsung devices or use a command with Google Play to enroll Knox Manage and apply all policies. Through the Windows Store, you can install Knox Manage and manage Windows devices similar to using GPOs in Windows or InTune, but at a lower cost. Samsung Knox helps manage work profiles in my case because all devices are managed and protected through encryption. The devices are encrypted with a password and assigned to different organizations or groups depending on the department.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Stable product that's easy to set up compared to other MDM products."
"The central administration con dashboard is very easy to use and provides very good oversight on all that needs to be monitored."
"Intune has significantly benefited our organization by providing comprehensive visibility into our device ecosystem."
"Dynamic groups allow us to set conditions for automatic membership, eliminating the need for user intervention or manual review and ensuring a seamless workflow."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune is its scalability."
"Great for software update needs, operating system version updates, and security policy enforcement."
"Microsoft Intune is unique in providing management for all operating systems, including macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS."
"The Mobile Device Management in Intune is a valuable feature."
"Policies are a great feature that allows us to push certain restrictions to devices that require them, such as the younger generation of students we have."
"One of the key features that I liked the most and a lot of the customer value as well is the geofencing. Geofencing is geographical locations. If the device is on a particular premise, then the policy applies. And when the device is not there, the policy goes away."
"Patch management and associated policies help us manage and update our fleet's software."
"Automating the refresh of the devices is huge for both sides of the end-user experience."
"Jamf has made it achievable for us to easily deploy & manage Apple devices anywhere in the world, without the need for hands-on assistance from IT staff."
"Apple School Manager integration and access to VPP content made the integration of devices into our fleet flawless and application installation much simpler and faster."
"Being able to easily deploy apps and patches to our client computers with minimal hands-on time from our techs has been huge."
"The user interface is great."
"One portal for all the features and the remote support capability in Samsung Knox is highly valued. The enterprise editions and the free Knox Suite licenses for one year are also beneficial."
"Overall, I would rate the solution as a 10."
"The most valuable feature of Samsung Knox is the endpoint protection it offers. Users have the ability to perform a factory reset without the need for a hard reset, which is very beneficial."

Cons

"Enrollment into the Microsoft Intune service can still get easier, especially for legacy-managed systems, such as how we get it from a GPO or an SCCM configuration into Intune."
"Reporting in Microsoft solutions is pathetic. With Intune, I'm getting a free inventory tool, but I don't get a reporting tool. When I go to Intune, I can see one machine's entire data in terms of the hardware and the software running on it, but I cannot generate a report for all the machines in the organization. The reporting is the only feature holding back the functionality that is already there."
"I would like to see micro VPN. I like the way that some of the other providers have done something similar where, as you open that app on an end-point device, it creates a micro VPN straight into your device, which is quite a nice little feature. Also, Microsoft Intune relies heavily on its fellow products in the suite. It would be nice if Microsoft Intune could stand on its own two feet."
"The initial setup is a little bit complex."
"It would help if administrators could pinpoint the exact location of a stolen device to help law enforcement retrieve it and apprehend the suspect."
"Reporting needs to be better. Sometimes, it is way too slow, and it is not even accurate."
"Intune is not the most user-friendly mobile device management platform available."
"In Microsoft Intune, there is significant slowness, and there needs to be more logs when we deploy software, parameters, or scripts to troubleshoot problems and errors in the interface, workstations, and Android devices."
"It would be nice if Jamf added an onboarding tool integrated into Jamf Connect during the automated DEP enrollment workflow. It would also improve the user experience if Jamf integrated native macOS notifications, with the option to interact within the notification center."
"The solution should offer beta testing for new products."
"The patching can definitely use a little bit of improvement. They should make it a little bit more automated."
"Training should be more accessible and cheaper."
"Inventory reporting could be better, however, that is already slated to improve with some of the new features Apple has announced in WWDC 2022."
"The solution needs cheaper training."
"Jamf could improve versioning as in outright blocking OS upgrades OR improving maintaining every application’s update feature. As of now, only some apps, like Flash, have managed updates."
"It would be great if we get an email notification when the Mac users install any apps, so IT can be alerted."
"Samsung Knox needs to expand customer features across all devices, not just Samsung devices."
"Features like private DNS would be very useful if pushed through Knox Manage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is not cost-effective as a standalone product."
"Even if they charge a premium, they aim to provide equal value."
"The pricing for Microsoft Intune is reasonable. Our clients are satisfied."
"The pricing is not cheap, especially with inflation. They've had to increase their prices. It's not excessive, but alright."
"Intune is included with our F3 and E5 licenses."
"We use Defender ATP and E5 licenses."
"It is average. Some of the costs are quite high depending on what the customer currently uses, but overall, it is not bad. I would not say that I would not recommend Intune based on the cost. I definitely would, but they can definitely improve on the cost. So overall, its cost is not bad."
"It's affordable. It's cheaper if you have an Office 365, E5, or E3 subscription because everything is there."
"Licensing cost is dependent on the footprint and foreseen growth."
"The only thing that is kicking us a bit is the rand to the dollar exchange rate. It is priced in dollars. Every time the rand goes worse, it just costs more. I would rate it a four out of five in terms of pricing because it is very unpredictable because of the rand to the dollar exchange rate."
"Jamf Pro is on the expensive side and could be slightly cheaper."
"I think it pays for itself to let Jamf host the server."
"If you have the in-house capability to support Jamf, then paying for onboarding / JumpStart training is a no brainer."
"The cost of Jamf is certainly worth the investment."
"The cost of this solution is expensive but worth it."
"Jamf is quite up there. It wasn't the cheapest solution, but it's reasonable. Apigee was cheaper than Jamf."
