High performance, reliable, and excellent technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The main feature of Oracle Database is its performance."
  • "Oracle could improve by providing better integration with other solutions, such as Angular platforms."

What is our primary use case?

We use Oracle Database for the solution we make using Oracle APEX for our clients. Oracle Database can be used in all sectors, we have many clients in the financial sector.

What is most valuable?

The main feature of Oracle Database is its performance.

What needs improvement?

Oracle could improve by providing better integration with other solutions, such as Angular platforms. We have a lot of pressure from our customers to have this type of compatibility, we end up using other solutions that tend to mimic the functionality but it is not natural, expensive, and is difficult to maintain.

We have already seen some tools that they are working on, but they are in an experimental stage and do not look too promising. There is a need for more collaboration moving forward. In the past it was beautiful, now the world is collaborative, and it is hard to have that integration with everybody else.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Database for approximately 30 years.

Stable, reasonably priced, and straightforward to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is very stable."
  • "The quality of technical support could be better. They could respond faster."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used for the core banking system, for cloud disaster recovery, for business continuity planning, and lots of other business cases. We use it for the core banking system and card system for applications.

What is most valuable?

The Oracle BI, Business Intelligence, is its most valuable aspect. Oracle BI has been very helpful for me during my career. To have business analytics and to deal with big data with the multiple organizations I've worked for has been great.

The solution is very stable.

We've found the solution to be scalable.

The initial setup isn't too complicated.

The pricing isn't too bad.

What needs improvement?

Their cloud services should be improved and expanded.

The quality of technical support could be better. They could respond faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for 12 to 15 years at this point. It's been well over a decade. I've used it for quite a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is very good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is there if you need it. It expands quite well.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is okay, however, sometimes it takes a while for them to respond It would be nice if they were faster. We aren't 100%v satisfied with the level of service we get from them.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also use Microsoft.

How was the initial setup?

While it depends on the testing scenarios, depends on the application that we're going to serve, and depends on the hardware you're using, it's not hard. I wouldn't describe the process as complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We're fine with the licensing and costs.

What other advice do I have?

We are simply customers and end-users. We don't have a business relationship with Oracle.

I use various versions of the solution, however, every year, they release a new version and I end to install it.

I use multiple deployment models, including on-premises and cloud.

I'd give the solution a perfect ten out of ten rating. It really is a fantastic product. We've been very happy with its capabilities and reliability.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

A leading technology that allows us to manage our systems
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very reliable."

What is our primary use case?

We use Oracle Database for our core banking system. Including end users, there are approximately 8,000 customers and employees using this solution within our organization.

For maintenance, we require a team of roughly 20-25 developers, including a fiscal analyst and a project management lead.

How has it helped my organization?

We're a bank. Our customers trust us with their money. Oracle database is a leading technology that allows us to manage our systems.

    What is most valuable?

    It's very reliable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Database for roughly 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Oracle Database is stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

    The technical support is okay.

    How was the initial setup?

Although I wasn't present for the initial setup, I believe it doesn't take much time.

    What about the implementation team?

An integrator helped us with the initial setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licenses could definitely be cheaper. We pay on a yearly basis.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend this solution to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Oracle Database a rating of eight.

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for database management.

    What is most valuable?

I have found the most valuable feature to be the performance. We have a large database in my company and there is not likely a solution that has the performance we need.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of this solution is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Oracle does not support standard containers and this is a limitation when it comes to scalability. You can not make a partition in the database. However, there might be a separate product to enable this feature.

We have approximately 10,000 users using this solution and this does not include the internet users that use our database every day.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support has been good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of the solution could improve.

Robust and accessible with helpful technical support
    Pros and Cons
    • "Technical support has been helpful so far."
    • "The installation of the product could be designed to be simpler."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used for our accounting system.

    What is most valuable?

The solution is the best in the world. It's robust and accessible.

Oracle is the best on the market. They offer an exceptional product.

Technical support has been helpful so far.

    What needs improvement?

The installation of the product could be designed to be simpler.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about three years. It's been a while.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support has been great. We've been most satisfied with eh level of support we get. Everyone is helpful and responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also have experience with the SQL Server, which is less expensive. It's also easier to set up and deploy,

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup isn't exactly straightforward. It's a bit more complex than, for example, an SQL Server, which is much more straightforward and simple to deploy.

    What about the implementation team?

We used a specialist when deploying the solution originally.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is more expensive than the SQL server. If a company needs a less expensive option, it shouldn't necessarily choose Oracle.

What other advice do I have?

I use multiple versions of the solution, including 12C and 11G.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten.

I'd recommend the solution to others. Oracle really is the best, even though the initial setup can be a bit difficult.
