We use this solution to run custom-made software for medical, social security, and medical care companies in Guatemala.
Within our organization, there are roughly 70-75 employees using this solution.

This solution is very reliable. The performance is great.
It would be nice if creating indexes and other small, repetitive tasks could be automated.
I have been using Oracle Database for 10 years.
We receive very good support here in Guatemala from our local partner. We're very happy to have this relationship.
The initial setup wasn't complex, but it wasn't simple either — it's in between.
Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of nine.
It is deployed on AWS Cloud, but it is an IaaS setup, not the PaaS one.
We are using or leveraging Oracle DB for storing the transaction related details. Along with that we are heavily relying on the CCQ and setup that Oracle provides. They were sending a notification for any changes or transactional log audit purposes that we are using.
The features that I have found most valuable are things like cluster setup and RAC One. We are using the main CQN and third party plugin support right now. We are relying on different languages support that we are getting from the Oracle side. It is one of the major areas in which Oracle excels compared to other databases.
In terms of what could be improved vis-à-vis our use cases and requirements, there is nothing. Nonetheless, we are trying to move to other companies because of the licensing cost that we're incurring on a monthly basis. Other than that we are not seeing any performance issues or require additional add-ons based on our use cases.
I have been using Oracle Database for around four years.
It requires patching that we need to do manually from our end. To use the patches released from the Oracle side requires maintenance.
We have a dedicated team of DBA's that took care of the maintenance and dispatching. There are times reserved for that purpose, and during that time whenever a business requirement is very low or there is less load on the DB, that is when we do it.
It is quite stable.
The RAC One feature that I mentioned is one of the highlights of Oracle. We're using that for scalability and management. If we're increasing we can easily plug the nodes into the DB and we can distribute the load. It's not a problem.
Right now we are creating these transaction logs from different DBs that we have in place so it's not directly any application or anyone in these dealings. ETL jobs are defined and in place so that we can extract and dump the logs into the Oracle DB.
We have a team of administrators working on it.
Our team used to do it without any kind of technical challenges. Anything which we are not able to solve from our end our DBA team used to reach out to them.
We have a separate team who is doing all the tickets and stuff.
The initial setup is a bit complex because we need to define rules and permissions for each and every user's perspective. The initial setup took us a bit to put everything in place.
We were getting help from the Oracle DBA support when we we set up Oracle.
Right now we are paying per license to Oracle and for whatever additional features we are leveraging. For that we need to pay extra on top of the license.
There are a lot of additional costs. That is the reason we are only leveraging for transactional related purposes, so that we do not spend so much on doing the same thing on Oracle. That is the reason we are looking for open source databases now.
As I mentioned previously, as per our use cases, the features that Oracle is currently providing are more than enough. We haven't seen any new features that should be included because all the features that we need to support our business requirements are there.
Oracle is a great DB. If you very heavily rely on it for very business-critical data and certain scaling is required or heavy requirements from the technology perspective, I would say Oracle is one of the best DB's. But for that you need to pay a heavy amount for the licensing costs. Everything is included in the package, but apart from a few additional features we also need to pay extra.
On a scale of one to ten, I would give Oracle Database a 10.
We primarily use it for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and HR. We also use it for financial modules and inventory.
The database is perfect. It's powerful and fast, and the backup system is wonderful.
It is easy to install as well.
After Oracle bought Sun Microsystems, they blocked all patches, even while using Solaris 8 or 9. So, we cannot get the patches for them.
You have to purchase extra licenses for Oracle Data Guard. Even if you have backup discs and never use Data Guard, you still have to pay for a license for it.
I've been using Oracle Database since 2002.
We are satisfied with Oracle's technical support. Depending on the situation, they may respond within an hour or in a day to weeks if testing needs to be done.
Oracle Database is easy to install. I have never come across a big problem during these 20 years.
Oracle requires you to purchase extra licenses for Oracle Data Guard.
Oracle seems to be losing power and losing customers in the last two to three years. However, I still think it's a good solution and rate it at nine on a scale from one to ten.
We use this solution based on the requirements of a client.
We primarily use it for a client that has a huge amount of data and has another application that also has lots of data. It's very good at handling jobs that have huge datasets.
I'm not a regular user of the solution.
It's a great product overall.
The initial setup isn't too difficult.
The product does have a lot of features. However, I've barely explored them.
The main issue with Oracle is the maintenance required. They should work to make it less maintenance-heavy. This is especially true if you are using it on Linux. You need more experience and skills in order to maintain it on Linux in general.
We've had corruption occur if the power gets cut off. We had a bad experience with some cases. However, this might have been due to our own infrastructure issues that have since been dealt with.
We've used the solution for three or four years.
The solution isn't widely used by our company. I'm the only one testing it. The people in our company don't use Oracle at all.
I've never directly dealt with technical support. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they would be. Whenever I have a problem or issue, I google it and search for answers online.
While I don't have much personal experience, my understanding is that the initial setup isn't too difficult. It's pretty simple and straightforward.
In our organization, we don't use Oracle, aside from in labs. We use Oracle in our labs just for testing and connectivity. We have versions of Oracle in our labs and other SQL devices.
We don't really use the solution too much in the company and therefore don't have a license. We test it for customers. I can't speak to the licensing process or costs.
I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. It's mostly been a positive experience, working with the product.
Between Oracle and SQL, I would recommend SQL to other users and companies.
Once we get the installation done, we migrate items to our new DB and we maintain the service with tasks such as clearing the caches and taking the backups, and checking the logs. We look at what it's doing - if something's wrong or if there are any kinds of issues. Occasionally, we do some performance tuning.
The latest version is a lot more organized than the previous version. We can check out the regular files and our dictionaries and our created files, which are a little better organized right now.
The initial setup was pretty simple.
The solution is pretty stable.
The previous version was a little clunky.
I'm not exactly experienced in troubleshooting. There are issues that I can't really fix. Sometimes I'm helpless with Google also. Trying to learn to identify the exact issue I was getting a Boolean error. I need to improve my knowledge. I'd like to have more documentation or assistance in this area.
The solution could be more user-friendly,
I've been using the solution for five or six years. It's been a while.
It's a wonderful product. Those that have a lot of experience working with the product, those with ten or 15 years of experience, will be able to understand its core processes. Those with only a few year's experience will feel there's a certain lack of transparency. That said, I haven't had any issues with bugs or glitches, and when it is set up correctly, it doesn't crash or freeze.
The initial setup is not complex or difficult. It's straightforward and pretty easy to set up.
If you are experienced it is an easy task for you, however, it is a process. We have to check every step. If we've done something wrong in any step, then the whole installation process will be for nothing. New errors will come up. We have to document everything and we have to have the requirements clearly laid out. I've learned the hard way that you cannot take shortcuts.
We're just a customer and an end-user. We don't have a business relationship with Oracle.
We have our primary DB on Oracle 19C.
We have to manage everything, including the frontend and backend.
I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. If it was more user-friendly, I would rate it higher.
I would recommend Oracle Database to others. We have some colleagues who are doing some small-scale businesses. For them, it might not be suitable. Not everyone should get into Oracle. It is a standard product, however, you need to understand your exact requirements.
We are a hotel and the use the database for many things. It's connected to an API, and we use that to connect directly to the database.
This is a powerful solution. It offers us a lot of backup security and we can make an image and a backup of the database every day. It's also very responsive so that when information is updated, it takes less than five seconds to update everything.
I think this solution could be a little more user friendly and they could include a graphic interface for the monitoring of the system. The current monitoring system is not very user friendly.
I've been using this solution for five years.
Stability is solid and powerful.
The scalability is fine, we have about 50 people who have access to the interface - we have a front office team, managers, housekeeping team, finance, sales and others. There are lot of users eligible to connect and update information.
The technical support is very good, they are very responsive.
The initial setup is fine, it took about a day for deployment and some extra time for configuration. We use it for the hotel and that requires creating rooms, codes, things like that. It depends what you need to do. We were able to deploy the solution ourselves but for specific tasks you need support.
We pay an annual license fee to Oracle.
I would recommend this product.
I rate this solution a 10 out of 10.
We are a system integrator and Oracle Database is one of the products that we implement for our clients. We have good knowledge when it comes to Oracle integrations.
There are many use cases but it is most often used for specific software development projects, such as portals. We have some enterprise portals, for example, and it is also useful for self-service applications such as payments or other requests.
It is often used for information systems.
The most valuable feature is that it is a complete product with all of the functionality that you need, and there is no need for any special features.
We have been working with Oracle Database for a couple of years.
We have approximately 10 customers who are using Oracele.
Technical support is perfect.
The installation is quite straightforward. As long as you follow the proper process, there is no problem with it. Typically, it takes three or four hours to deploy.
For security aspects, our customers prefer an on-premises deployment over a cloud-based one.
We have two database administrators who are responsible for maintenance. One is a senior-level engineer and the other is a junior.
Our customers sometimes complain about the price of the license, as it is very high for them.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
We are using the solution for enterprise business databases.
I have been using this solution for approximately 10 years.
The solution in my experience has been stable.
The solution could be more scalable. We have approximately 100 users using the solution in my company and we plan on increasing the usage.
I was satisfied with the technical support.
There is a license required for this solution and it is a little expensive.
We plan to continue using the solution in the future.
I rate Oracle Database an eight out of ten.
