What is most valuable?

The security Trend Micro Apex One provides is okay.

What needs improvement?

The device, e.g. laptop, becomes slow after installing Trend Micro Apex One, so this is an area for improvement. The security it provides is okay, but it causes slow performance after installation. Personally, I don't like this software, because I can install and use other solutions that won't affect the performance of my laptop, though Trend Micro Apex One has many uses.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company has been using Trend Micro Apex One for more than one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Trend Micro Apex One is a stable software.

How was the initial setup?

Installation of this software was quick. It took just 10 to 20 minutes to complete the installation.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an infrastructure consultant, not part of the security team. My company is a system integrator in Thailand. We have many, many silos, e.g. we have the security, data, network, and development teams. My role is under the network team.

I wouldn't recommend Trend Micro Apex One to other users who want to start using it.

My company pays for the license of this software, but I don't know if it's a monthly or a yearly subscription.

My rating for Trend Micro Apex One is a five out of ten.

We use the latest version. 

The solution handles all the necessary functions. These include machine learning, which is quite useful. The updates are constantly serviced and, as the solution is stable, it is updated daily. 

What needs improvement?

The technical support could have better response time. It is quite time consuming and takes a day for them to get back to us. 

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Trend Micro Apex one for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and integrated into the system quite well. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable and its deployment varies with the server and license. 

How are customer service and support?

The technical support could have better response time. It is quite time consuming and takes a day for them to get back to us. 

How was the initial setup?

From the manager's vantage point, the solution has a straightforward setup for the user. It's quite easy. 

The time the deployment takes is minimal, this process varying with the agent involved. 

What about the implementation team?

The installation can be done remotely. There are many options available, including dedicated tools for the deployment. 

There are only two or three people needed for the deployment who are referred by the end user. They consist of managers, manager segments and engineers. 

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our organization did not evaluate another solution prior to going with Trend Micro Apex One. 

What other advice do I have?

We are talking about the smart scan, office scan. 

The solution is integrated in the system quite well. 

There are around 400 users making use of the solution in our organization. 

I would, indeed, recommend the solution to others. 

Trend Micro Apex One constantly provides us with updates and affords the systems good protection, so I rate it as a ten out of ten.

The most valuable feature is that it's normal, and not for a specific server.

What needs improvement?

Trend Micro is a basic solution, but the problem is that it is more exclusive.

There are two products, one is for the endpoint for the client, and the other is for the sever, but the server is even more exclusive.

There are some features that are not available in OfficeScan. For example, IBS.

In the next release, I would like to see IBS included in OfficeScan.

I have been working with OfficeScan for more than two years.

We are using version 11.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable solution and to date, we have not had any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

OfficeScan is scalable, we have not experienced any issues.

Previously, I was working with Trend Micro, but recently we have signed with SentinelOne.

What about the implementation team?

We contact our local partner, who is responsible for the setup and deployment.

Our primary use case for this solution is protecting clients. We have an on-premises deployment.

The most valuable feature of this solution is the threat protection functionality.

What needs improvement?

The alert, or warning function, needs to be improved. Two days ago I received an email from the system regarding an incident that was detected with a client who received a great deal of spam, in excess of forty-five thousand emails.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I think that the stability of this solution is very high. It is always running and it doesn't abuse system resources.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is extremely scalable.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not contacted technical support for this solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

At my previous job, I used Norton (Symantec). When I changed companies I started using this solution, by Trend Micro.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of this solution is extremely simple. It is deployed from our SCCM solution, so it happens automatically. 

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think that this product is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

This is a product that I recommend, as it does exactly what it's supposed to do.

The biggest lesson that I have learned from using this solution is that it's difficult to always be one step ahead of the guys that are introducing malware, but I think that Trend Micro is doing a good job. They are always updating their product.

Overall, I am very happy with this solution, and it does what is advertised.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

The product offers almost all of the features the client expects from such a solution. What they have in the product should work fine without it affecting the system performance.

Product performance needs improvement. Customers face the same performance issues on the endpoint of the product. We need improvement on that side.

Trend Micro needs to include the OfficeScan application control and protection all in one agent. That application control is not properly working, it is affecting the system performance. When we enable that particular functionality, it doesn't load on the machine. We need improvement on that side of it.

I've been working with the solution for four years.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't received any feedback in regards to technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously worked with Symantec. Since we are a reseller we work with all three of these products. 

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing costs happen on a yearly basis. The costing is average. They're not the most expensive solution, but they aren't cheap either. There aren't any other costs beyond the yearly licensing fee.

What other advice do I have?

We are a reseller so we recommend the product to our clients.

We work with the public cloud deployment model with Trend Micro as the provider of the cloud.

I would rate the solution 7.5 out of ten.

The most valuable features are the vulnerability protection and virtual patching.

This solution scans for vulnerabilities that can originate from anywhere around the world.

This is a product that is always up to date.

Integration with third-party products is supported.

What needs improvement?

The reports are not eye-catching from the customer's point of view, which is something that should be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with Apex One for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have had no complaints from our customers about stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our customers are satisfied with the scalability of Apex One.

How are customer service and technical support?

The support provided by Trend Micro is very good. We have had no issues with them.

We have worked with Carbon Black and their solutions do not compare with Trend Micro.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. The length of time required for deployment depends on the customer's environment and what other products they have. The average time to deploy Apex One is about two and a half months, which includes integration, client setup, and other things.

What about the implementation team?

Our clients generally do not have to do any maintenance because everything is updated through the Trend Micro Smart Protection Server.

What other advice do I have?

This is definitely a product that I recommend. That said, there is no product on the market that is 100%.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution daily. It provides us with 99% of antivirus precautionary care and prevention of email threats.

How has it helped my organization?

We use several Trend Micro solutions. We use Trend Micro OfficeScan, DDM and DDI. We are also using IMSVA and WSVA for email security and web security. After deploying OfficeScan, we have found more detections of possible virus attacks.

What is most valuable?

The DDAN and the sandboxing features are very good and accurate.

What needs improvement?

I am expecting an Apple featured IDLP solution with OfficeScan, where we have only IDLP. Also, the ADR functionality in our OfficeScan solution would be a nice addition. Genrally, the ADR solutions are the only failed ends of the solutions we have found with Trend Micro.

Tech support needs improvement. We raised certain cases regarding a lag in terms of a solution, and the response time was slow.

We previously used McAfee and Symantec.

Pricing and licensing are competitive with other solutions on the market.
