At the time, our platform was on-premise and a tool was needed that would provide network security. The implementation of Check Point Power-1 provided us with protection and advanced threat prevention. We were also able to have a broad panorama of the network traffic and be able to identify malicious activity or vulnerabilities and thus be able to proceed to block them through security policies. In addition to that, the tool has a firewall and VPN to be able to perform more gradual connections. In this way, we were able to keep our entire data center free from malicious attacks.
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
Check Point Power-1 managed to solve many security problems that we had on our platform. It has excellent protection features and network traffic-blocking activities, ensuring comprehensive defense against potential cyber threats.
With it, we were able to keep our end devices well protected. Having this security also helped us improve our security posture in general and helped us to comply with the security standards and requirements for certifications more efficiently and consistently.
This tool has helped my organization improve security, safeguard confidential information, and maintain a high level of trust with clients and partners across all our operations.
What is most valuable?
The tool contains several valuable features that make it very efficient, such as:
- Firewalls to help with the inspection and control of network traffic
- A VPN that allows users to connect remotely and securely
- Intrusion prevention to detect and block malicious traffic
- Anti-malware protection which detects and blocks malicious software
These are some of the valuable features that help an organization to be able to maintain complete security and to be able to protect all its networks from cyber attacks and malicious activities.
What needs improvement?
Check Point Power-1 (EOL) has reached the end of its useful life, yet at the time, they could to make some changes such as:
- Integration in the cloud. It is the new trend, however, Check Point has already contemplated this and already has its own cloud device.
- Automation. As the automatic creation and application of policies, this would have been very beneficial.
- Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time.
They must also make some improvements in their support departments since they do not comply with the SLAs that they provide.
